Plushenko will honour us with his presence in 2010!

He is one the sport needed for a long time; just as gentle and lyrical skaters like Lambiel and Buttle make great contribution to the sport, so does he in his flamboyant and bravado way. It's so entertaining to see his skating with such force, not to mention his finger(s) ceremony. It's as if watching a star soccer player celebrating his brilliant goal.

I love moscow, since yesterday we are betting how many sightseeings we can see in 3 days and I think we are winnin the bet! awesome city, great sceneries, russian people help us a lot with our language ignorance everywhere we ask(maybe it helps the I m lost, please help face:p),we are not lost in metro so far and the food-drinks are great!I m sure I ll come back!

i want to marry johnny:biggrin:I just fell in love with him after his exhibition!Lady Gaga is nothing combaring to him! And he is so nice and friendly!Takahiko is very very very shy and plushy has a sign all over his face "stay clear" before competition or gala! You can see he prepares for quad outside the ice, too much time concetrating, even before leaving hotel, and if you try and talk to him he is in his own bubble!!LOL!after Gala, say whatever you want about arrogance, evgeni is lovely, very friendly, very happy, too talkative, I just enjoyed speaking to him and he doesnt generate any fear or awe and all the stuff about king is back , he said to girls with banners that he will try his best to come back in best way and nothing more! And he made a photo with a family that had a baby boy and when baby saw plushy it started crying, Plushy cracked the hotel up, he said Oh he is probably scared of my big nose! Wagner and Alissa are very friendly too with their fans!
But Johnny is:love:In gala Miki and Mao got the biggest applause, Mao was heartbreaking the previous night..after seeing caprice for second time, i love it more!Johnny has the best fans I ve seen, too organised, too many, too outgoing :) Evgeni is exhibition was magical, leave out the two quads and the 3axels, his posture and move to the music was just fantastic...
Peletier was a journalist in moscow and gave an interview, asked about Plush he said he is very special, never seen a comeback like that, and after seeing him live he bets all his money on him for Gold, maybe there will be a video of this documentary , many people talked about plushenko but most was in russian!
Mishin in Moscow was as popular as Evgeni, lol, he didnt know from which door to exit:laugh:

Seniorita is only dared to kiss Plushy

.... Evgeny Plushenko. While I always thought he had a decent shot at winning this competition, I expected there to be a little rust after not competing at this level for so long. Well, he showed no rust at all and after his performance he has to be considered the early favorite for Olympic Gold. I was simply astounded by his performance level....

I listened to commentators on NBC, and I not heard not one bad word about his skating ... on the contrary

What to say, except as stated in my signature.... ;)

And now the view from Plushyland is that NBC commentators actually know what they are talking about? :)

Well there is a first time for everything ;)

I noticed that, too and I think it's because Paul Wylie, who commented this time, is a very polite person.
What's wrong with politely?

I can't think of any other explanation for Wylie saying that Plushy now brought his pro-circuit showmanship to competition :p
Perhaps because he is like pro-shows? :p

I generally like and trust Wylie's expertise
Also ;)

And you think that the Canadian Television objective?

In any case, I realized that some people here do not like Plushy skating, as even as I do not like skating some other skaters.
But why you have to repeat endlessly?
Here, I'll just say once, what I think about other skaters - Joubert by me no have artistry, Lambiel is a perfect skater, but perhaps more for the Ice Dance, Verner does not have even a little charisma, Lysacek is the average skater and not at all pleasant to watch as regarding the visual aesthetics, Chan is more "tied to the ice" and has only the steps, the Japanese so far been inconsistent in their attempts ... etc, etc ...

P.S. I'd begged you to take into account that I poorly know English, and I can not best to explain my viewpoint ... but by me - Plushy has all the features of the aforementioned skaters, and in most of the elements is the best  .... if deceive and I, even and international judges, who gave him for a years the highest marks  ... or a few fans of other skaters, who endlessly repeating one and the same statement about Plushy, that no one evidence, except the antipathy towards him, is not supported? :p

Your English is OK and I thought your post was humorous and expressed realistic enough opinions.

Unlike Mischin, most are not so full of bragging and Plushy will get no Olympic medal until he shows up in Vancouver and wins it on the ice.

And don't worry about the Canadian announcers - they are too busy crucifying Tat to give Plushy full attention ;)

Whole post.

I agree. Evgeni did several of the cheesefests that used to be held in Detroit every December, and I always had the same impression of his charm after the skating was over. He also conducted himself very gallantly toward all the ladies in the competion.

I find the whole Plushenko is a jerk to be annoying. I don't really think the guy is. He has questionable taste, but I actually find HIM kind of likeable.

One of the things I like about Plushenko is he does his talking ON the ice. You rarely hear this guy say a bad word about his competitors. He goes out there and says what he needs to say with his performance. So what if he held up a number 1 sign AFTER a good performance. Haven't we seen Phelps do that too? There's a big difference between that and going around speaking trash about your opponents beforehand.

I like diversity in skating and fandom. Else our posts here would be pretty boring
While there are certainly different types of charisma, but my dear Verner none of it? Nil?:boohoo:

There are different styles of skating and different types of charisma. Tomas projects elegance and class. His refinement is not for everbody. And I agree it would be boring if they were all the same. :)

He also held up the number 1 sign during his performance. Does Michael Phelps do that when he starts his last lap of the race? Of course not!

gee, its not like he did the middle figure thing:cool:although maybe he should have(I kid)
OR maybe it was part of choreography:biggrin:
I didnt mind at all, I for once laughed, it looked sooooooooo inappropriate for fs competition, plushy has been watching lots of football!

I'll tell you what I told a fan of another skater who asked why I was being so critical of that skater: because this is not a fan forum. We are all here to discuss skating, not to be 100% positive. Since Plushenko is a frequent subject of discussion - those of us who like his skating will explain why, and those of us who do not will offer their own opinion. Now tell me - has Plushenko attracted more criticism than Patrick Chan? Brian Joubert? Evan Lysacek?

I will pretend I didn't read that stuff about Brian and Tomas. To say Tomas has no charisma . My god, what skater are you watching?

He also held up the number 1 sign during his performance. Does Michael Phelps do that when he starts his last lap of the race? Of course not!
That's because doing so would slow down Michael Phelps. Which would be bad (well, maybe not for Phelps' competitors ;)). Whereas there are no negative consequences if Plushenko does the same, except that it is unattractive. And before people jump about Joubert: I don't like finger-based choreography, period.

I think jouby has the finger choreo, how many times he points his finger to audience -judges during Safri duo?:p
its patatos-patatos in my case, just because he did it before his straight seq?? joubert has done the I m number one thing, now either both is arrogance or celebration of winning, whatever is that is the same to me.
depends of critism, pictures of evgeni cause he has a large nose or he is not such pretty boy like jouby that exploded in other thread is not like we criticize his skating. Unless plushy goes for miss universe..Although i laughed:laugh:
For the record i think Plushy was gorgeous. Ice suits him:)This is my fav photo, although i havent looked much yet,

morozov interview, he talks about plushy and oda.
http://velena.ru/skating/NM_2009.html
peletier, morozov, yagudin I like what they said:)
Although now i would prefer the hype and excitement to stop and they let plushy work silently until euros.

I laughed at "finger-based choreography" so much! For some reasno it made me think of the "told you so dance" that Grace does in the tv show "Will and Grace"!

I haven't seen any of the skating from Rostelcom yet so can't comment on what Plush did or didn't do in his skate. But it always anoys me when skaters have some form of celebration in the programme that has nothing to do with the chorepgraphy. Fist pumping after landing a big jump - celebratory shouting and gestures to the audience just before you go into the final step sequence....the whole thing is just blech.

The only other thing that winds me up even more is imaginary instrument playing!

I was just using Phelps as an example because the previous poster did. Obviously it would not be a good strategy for a swimmer ;) I think there are negative consequences as he offended a good number of people, comes across as even more arrogant than he already did, and even had the announcers wondering what the hell he was doing.

Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

I was thinking more along the lines of the spirit fingers routine in Bring It On. But let's not give anyone any ideas .

Celebratory stuff on the ice - sometimes it just comes across as joyful. With Plushenko, this time at least, it came across as smug. Regardless, that sort of stuff should only be spontaneous, never a part of the choreography.

You're clearly more of an optimist than I am :p The big question is, did the judges feel it detracted from the program? Our opinions, unfortunately, don't really matter.

The judges clearly didn't find it distracting here in Russia. However, if he pulls it again in Vancouver, the audience is most likely going to respond negatively to him and this could affect the judges scores. I guess we'll see!

Don't worry. He reads the forums. So he won't do it in Vancouver.;)
