He gets down lower, but his positions look worse to me (the speed has not improved either). The "cannonball" position he is currently attempting in the sit spin looks absolutely awful and slows the spin down too.
hey! we agree on something!
his sit spin reminds me of Timothy Goebel's attempt on a classic sit spin... bad posture... and just not all that great...
though Tim could get down low in the canonball type sit... just not with his back all the way down.
I'm critical of my favorites as well (Tim Goebel being one of them) there are few skaters that I can just gush forever about (even Kurt had a crappy sit spin, for what that's worth). And it's great that all of the skaters have their diehard fans whether I agree or not.
This thread has actually been an interesting coming together. If I may give some advice from someone who's been on Golden Skate since 2001/2002:
1 - don't take the "negative" on your skater personally. We're not going to agree 100% of the time on a skater, there are just way too many of us and this is a general skating board... all skaters are going to bring a bit of controversy
2 - we may be based in the US but Golden Skate has members all over the world, as such there are going to be very different views on how skating should look/be... none of them are right or wrong, just different.
3 - the best way to get the naysayers to die off is to not feed into their obsession. I realize in this thread I'm considered one of those 'evil ones' but seriously, just ignore it and be your happy go lucky self... you'll find it much easier lol
4 - don't retaliate by deciding if this person doesn't like Skater A they must like Skater B and so I'll be overly critical of their skater. Chances are they also don't like skater B and you'll alienate others who might be willing to defend your cause LOL
this isn't a modly reminder or anything, just some random sleep deprived advice...
