Thanks for this info., seniorita!
Omg, his dream of building a skating school for poor/underprivileged/orphans/et al whom wouldn't have a chance of skating except for this school is also a dream of mine for the USA! Seriously, can you imagine the possibilities!?!
I know there are kids out there that have the natural talent (just like Tonya Harding did), but don't have the opportunity to show it. If it wasn't for Tonya's generous patrons & the support of the USFSA, as well as her own industrious ways to earn money back then (e.g. collecting used bottles for the refund $), the USA would have never had such a gorgeous jumper as her. As well, if her mother hadn't spent the little money she had to pay for her daughter to skate at the mall that one time, Tonya would have never been discovered. In fact, in my humble opinion, she's the best natural jumper of any woman from any country I've ever seen in my life. And that's not hyperbole.
The same goes for Russia nowadays. In the past, under the old Soviet System, the b-e-s-t athletes were spotted, cultivated, and made champions regardless if their families had money or not. Nowadays only those that have the money can afford to skate. At least this is my understanding.
My ultimate wish is for ALL children in ALL countries be allowed to skate, to see if they have the natural talent, and if so let it foster regardless if they come from money. Of course the child has to want it first & foremost. Anyhow, I hope one day this dream will become reality. Just the possibilities are endless, wow...
Back to Evgeni & his beautiful character, I admire this as much if not more so than his natural jumping ability, charisma, et al. I always have, which is why I consider him one of my all-time favorite athletes. He was one of the few that did not abandon his country to go skate elsewhere. No, he stayed with it, no matter the poor conditions at the ice rink, which I've read about in the past. But as Mishin said back then "a fat cat is a lazy cat". Lol, so true, Mishin is a wise man indeed.
p.s. Oksana Baiul supports TIKVA Children's Home, whom care for the homeless, abandoned, and abused Jewish children of Odessa, Ukraine. Here's a link to it: http://tikvaodessa.org/
I apologize - I'm not such a great master, like you or seniorita

On a much lighter note, this picture had me ROTFLMAO!!!!

EDITED TO ADD: lol, us Evgeni Plushenko Fans should start a similar craze that Apolo Anton Ohno Fans did. That is, they wore his trademark "goatee" to his events. We should wear Zhenya's trademark "golden mullet" as well!
