Polina Tsurskaya leaves Tutberidze

So Eteri will be banking on Alina and Maria to tide her over until her junior girls can pick up the slack. That'll make for an interesting couple of interim seasons...

Well, and Daria Panenkova. But to be honest, now that Polina is with Buyanova, I think she will get some RusFed cooking and will be on the world team alongside Evgenia and Alina unless she really bombs at nationals and Daria/Maria step it up.

Do you mean Maria Sotskova? She isn't with Eteri.

As i think, she wants concentrate all their opportunities on Alina and promising future juniors. That why she let her go

Not really. I find her musicality a bit lacking at times. Haven't felt her presence too much, she needs work there. And while she might have correct edges, her jumps lack control due to her technique.

In regards to her musicality and presence, I really think the problems are due to her horribly choreographed programs this past season. She is not the type of skater who needs to be doing a million pointless transitions and arm movements; with her long limbs, she would be better served holding out her moves and creating beautiful positions on the ice. I don't know if the Buianova team will get her there, but I'm hopeful because I do like Maria S and Adelina's programs far more than most of the Eteri skaters' (with Alina being the exception there).

Ummm if any of the rumors are true about how crazy Eteri is, shouldn’t we be concerned for Alina going forward? Honestly, she seems like such a sweet girl...I hope she will get the TLC she needs to be even better next season.

If she don't bombs, after the disappointing results, from RusFed perspective, of Maria at Olympics and Worlds, and Stasya at Worlds, Polina seem the favorite to receive a bonus, to skate alongside Alina ed Evgenia.

Daria has the advantage of the senior grand prix spot, over other girls that this year can make the passage between junior and senior, and a good result there may change what RusFed think about her, but the last year she was way more underscored than pushed.

Maybe is more easy to think that one of Buyanova's girls may be this year third choice. There is also Gubanova ?

Talking about Evgenia, i don't understand the haters who say that something, because of the change, can go wrong for her at nationals. This season Russia still need absolutely both her and Alina, so its a theme that we can only discuss next season, if the better juniors confirm the expectations and make some newer records ( and we are still not sure about that ).

Rumors what was made with Polina are awful, and quite recently everything was good, to her put new programs... I suspect nervous equilibrium of coaching staff - the game of chess of Zhenya affected. Eteri didn't lose so long ago, she considered herself all-powerful.
To Alina shortly I am afraid the same fate, especially can expect if it doesn't cope in fight against Zhenya...

Just from what I've seen on videos and TV, I do think Buyanova as a coach cares a lot of her students. I always see her very supportive of Maria S and their team always try to prepare new outfits and programs. That said I am looking forward to seeing Polina under a new coach~

That makes sense too, but for me, style-wise, Caro and Yuna are closer to each other than they are to any of the Russian women.

I think that's more because they're from an era closer to the "classic" one than anything. Their focus and presentation always seemed different in some sense to me.

I think she could be modeled into a Carolina Kostner type skater more than a Yuna Kim type.

That is exactly what I think when I see Polina. She has great SS and her jumps are absolutely lovely. Due to her height, she could really have beautiful extension. I think Buyanova understands the importance of extension. Maria is very elegant due to her coaching. ( unfortunately she lacks the x factor) But, I think someone just needs to help Polina perform and extend. She seems business-like on the ice. Sort of like Nathan Chen does, at times, but she does not have the technical advantage he does so she needs to improve to see success.. Hopefully, her new coach understands this.

I'm surprised Alina is continuing on, frankly. I figured she'd pull a Sotnikova and retire but not retire.

Adelina peaked in Sochi. Alina is only 15 and still on the rise. She likes Eteri, Diana, Danill and Sergey. Why retire?

Good for her, such a huge talent, I hope she can reinvent herself and be a pleasant surprise to us all next year!

The real question? Have they deleted all photos of Polina from their social media so to make it look like she never existed. I'm actually curious, are they any old photos of past skaters at the Sambo Rink. Like are there any photos of Lipnitskaya still hanging.

At some point, Eteri's daughter, Diana, is probably like "Mom, cool it! I'm not going to have any friends left if Alina leaves."
