Unfortunately, that's not how people usually work. Think of people who won't quit one job unless they've found another.

Eteri seems tough, but I never thought 2 students would leave her in the same week. I thought Alina would leave, if anyone.

No, she should have talked with Orser and then notified Eteri, before this went public. If it went public, the first thing she should have done was to contact Eteri and let her know.

Its like work - while you don't need to notify your current employer that you are looking for a job, they do expect some notification from you a few weeks before you actually leave. Its not like you just get another job and stop showing up and let them figure.


I'm not excited for Buyanova for Polina. Buyanova's last decent result was Sotnikova, and even that was sheer luck of Adelina skating clean-ish at Olys.
Sotskova is struggling with URs and is known for her boring programs. The move didn't work for Radionova either, tbh, basically 0 improvement so far.
 
I really do think it was leaked though. Plus we don't know if a) Evgenia did tell Eteri -- in person b) Evgenia was going to tell her in a couple of weeks before it got leaked

I am pretty sure it leaked in may, and Evgenia worked it out with Orser probably in late april. She had time to tell her coach before it actually leaked.
Its not like paparazzi stalked her to her meet with Orser and spread the rumors on the very day it was decided.

You are surely right about work ethics but there is a difference here. For the kind of jobs we have, the employer needs a notification because (1) they need to find a substitute for you and avoid a sudden stop in the work flow, and (2) you have to finish up all your unfinished commitments there. I do not think these conditions apply for the case that a famous athlete is moving out of a famous club with tons of other students.

that may be true, but she was on vacation and was pretty much as soon as it was confirmed with Orser, so she probably wanted to tell her after vacation and before the coach change day

Some posters were saying that the leak of information came from Evgenia's part as part of a strategy.

Although I think we generally don't agree on most things here, I really do agree 100% on everything said above. Especially the stuff in bold. The "oh noes she was gonna tell her but it got leaked" (especially when Evgenia hasn't shown up to the rink/talk to Eteri iin 2 months) is a wishful thinking at best and simply ridiculous and totally bizarre at worst.
 
Now that Polina is with that famous coach lady, and the federation doesn’t want a complete sweep of Eteri girls going to the major events, does Polina have a chance to take Maria’s place?

She should, if she can be consistent!

I don't think that the fed was very impressed with Sotskova and out of the other available girls, Polina really should have the best status to become Russia's #3. It might be between her and Gubanova for CSKA, and Polina should have all the advantage. The only other challenger I can think of is Anna Tarusina, if it's true that she'll have a quad next season. But that seems like a long shot.

Actually, I don't think consistency is even an issue.
For example, Sotskova has URs. If Polina gets good programs, then add to it how spectacular her jumps are, she can be on top.

There were various sources from the same comments that were released late Monday/early Tuesday. I don't know why this site just published this information as if it's new (it's not). Buyanova just gave an interview to Flade so we will see what she has to say about all these transitions soon.
 
A stupid move from Polina. My bet is that Buyanova will favour Gubanova, she's a package. Polina would have been number 2 in Eteri's team, now she's number 4 in Buyanova's team.
