Practice Sessions at Nationals

It's too bad the judges kind of have them slotted in the lower part of the final group.
Hmmmm after Browns winning Santa Claus in Dec 2024 with solid scores (iirc), my mind totally slotted them in fight for podium at US Nats...but I do think their FD could be relatively received not as well as e.g. Zingas/Kolesnik one. Call me crazy, but I think a lot can happen between RD and FD plus...my gut tells me RD could have a factor in end results, bigger than some think...

What I love about this RD for Madi & Evan is that it lets Evan shine. He really is a fabulous dancer on his own. Jean-Luc raving about the cleanliness of their turns and the midline step sequence. JLB says this is a very hard, cardio intense program.

My comments - they took a lot of ballroom lessons to go with the various dance styles of the era and reportedly loved their ballroom time. It shows on the ice in this program. It has definitely made them stronger. Now that they stopped fiddling with the music, I enjoy it for its pure danceability.

Wow I absolutely agree with everything you just said. The RD is my favorite and I wasn't sure at first. They seem to have figured out how to not get ahead of themselves and give too much energy.
This is one of my favourite RDs this season because team match with the music is perfect. Browns have the groove to make that music SING. And they really seem to figure it out how to not overpower/overcharge it.

Yes, Santa Claus but their GP results are not all that. This doesn't mean I don't like them. I used to be furious about Kaitlyn and Jean Luc's results on a very regular basis and don't think they ever got their due.

@NoNameFace what do you think of Green & Parsons this year?
I'm...sad a bit? I know it's bad to reminisce and "woulda, coulda, shoulda" thing, but I'm just wondering what would it be if they've been able to stuck to their previous coaching. While I acknowledge their 6th place at Worlds in 2023 (iirc), it just somehow feels like each season there's some issue that either stops them from progress/climbing higher or just sticks them in the same place.
This season...I'm still a fan of skating abilities, how they look together, but I'm not so sure of material. I WANT to like it, but somehow it just leaves me a bit too indifferent. I just don't feel it has enough "something" to make them noticeable/rewarded above others. Or maybe it's about other US teams catching up and the contenders landscape getting bigger..?

Oh, don't get me started on a rant that plays regularly in my head about KHaw and JLB underappreciation...I consider me being able to witness their FD at 2022 GP in Finland plus crowning them one of my skating fan achievements

Kind of similar for me. I know they have the skills, BUT I've seen enough Austin Powers to last a lifetime. It feels a bit calculated and on the nose. The free dance is better, but it doesn't stick in my mind. I know people like them for third, but I think Zingas/Kolesnik are probably gonna get the spot this time.

I actually cried when I saw they were planning a U2 Free Dance to With or Without You - my favorite song. It and the Handmaid's Tale FD are among my favorites.

I know it will sound controversial, but...with this season's RD theme I'm a bit reserved towards teams relying on characters play. I'm leaning way more towards teams thinking about what style of dance/dance styles suit them/their expression or movement style and choosing to portray a dance style itself, with more of their own personalities on display. Hence I'm not that hot for Austin Powers RDs too.
Oh, I'd personally love to see Emilea and Vadym have their Worlds chance, in Boston at that (would love even more to witness it in person, but it's a complicated story:laugh:).

Yeah and a kind Finnish soul who managed to find me online after me getting home filmed clips of Piper/Paul AND Kaitlin/Jean-Luc crowning moments, sent me clips so I have something to smile and get back to :)
He can stop saying "when Kaitlyn and I were skating" just any time. Come back and get your Olympic medal....

Right?!
And it will sound sappy, but...why to use past tense if your skating lives in people's hearts forever plus you are a skaters for life to them..? :)

I agree, though I was one of the few people who liked their programs last season—I just think Michael wasn’t able to perform them fully due to injury but the actual programs last season I loved. This season I do not love either of their programs. I don’t love Z/K’s either (though an improvement over last year) but I think Z/K will have the bronze if they get their levels this week. My dark horse pick is the Browns, I love their material and I think they could get judges onboard if they nail their lifts and get levels.

I totally do not rule Browns out - if they figured out FD a bit more AND others will have some bumps, they could actually sneak on the podium and I would not be surprised.
Zingas/Kolesnik I feel have more "universally appealing" programs (I'm a fan of that FD in particular) abd have the biggest chance out of several teams there. Yet, Green/Parsons could surprise or Bratti/Somerville...
