I think Oda's SP score in Canada was a bit inflated because of "him". The gap with Rippon will be smaller this time. Oda usually skates better at the first GP competition than the second. Rippon has the better chance at home.

I'm in agreement. I don't think Oda would have gotten 81+ for his SP had Reynolds and Chan not been overscored. Seems like the judges panicked a little.

And what made you think Rippon score wasn't inflated as well? rising tide raises all boats.

Oda consistently got 80+ on his SP last season. Even up to 85. It wasn't out of the blue that he got 81+.

Practice reports are starting to come in over at FSUniverse. Several of the men are trying quads, with more failure than success. Some fans sang "Happy Birthday" to Adam.

I agree with you on the Oda thing. If you add the missing footwork sequence, Oda's score would be around the 85 mark so it seems about right.

I hope that Takahashi wins but I feel like Rippon is going to get a boost and win over Takahashi. It's just a gut feeling :( Hopefully my gut is wrong

That was with another step sequence and higher GOE factoring for the jumps. Most SP scores this season are at least 5, if not closer to 10 points lower than last season.

After seeing this name.... I must predict Murakami will win ladies.
In almost all competitions where he was the TS, Japanese skaters have won.

2007 JGP Estonia Ladies
2007 NHK Men
2008 NHK Men
2009 WTT Ladies
2009 JGP Poland Men
2010 Worlds Ladies

Um... speculation like that is a bit classless :disapp:

Uh huh; so you're insinuating that someone else should have won instead at these competitions?

No, I'm saying Amano is a sort of mascot for JPN skaters. He's also known for strict calls, which won't help likes of Flatt.

Anyway, in the case of 2007 NHK men, Verner could be the winner, if he didn't overlook Takahashi's under-rotated quad (fall).

Well if those skaters deserved to win, would it matter is he was a "mascot for JPN skaters"?

Then strict calling shouldn't help the likes of Murakami either, who has a fairly egregious flutz and also her share of underrotations. Unless you are saying that he will be strict on technical calls for non-Japanese skaters, but ignore faults of Japanese skaters?
