Predictions?

Yes but I notice 4 of the last 5 posters predicting Lambiel done in 3rd, even below Buttle which would be the ultimate lowpoint of embarassment for a skater like Stephane. If that is the best he is capable of now it is really time to quit competive skating for good. If his jumping is even worse then Buttles extremely shaky jumping (and to lose to Buttle his jumping will have to be even worse then Jeffs since he scores as high or higher on everything else) then his career has reached the point of hopelessness.

Those are just predictions, after all (not to say anything against the people who made those predictions, of course). As of now, the situation is completely up in the air because Stephane's result at CoC was a surprise to many skating fans. He has tended to be a little unpredictable these past two seasons, so really, who knows how he will do at CoR? Some people believe he will come to CoR motivated and fighting, while others think things won't be too much better for him next week. We'll have to wait and see what really happens. And even if Stephane does lose to Buttle, the decision to quit or buckle down hard and make major changes is ultimately his. Just my opinion.

Anywho, I might as well make predictions now that I am here.

If Stephane's old injury is acting up, he should not be skating and he should really go see an orthopedist for advice.

However, I believe he is not practicing much except for shows, and the competitive side has fallen somewhat.

If Lambiel cant even skate well enough to atleast beat Buttle right now then it is really time to quit competitive skating and stop humiliating himself.

Okay, this is simply mean... funny but mean, true but mean, and did I say funny? (yet mean...) You are simply a hoot!!!

Anywho... I predict that by the time CofR rolls around, I won't even care anymore... I was so hoping that I'd be a rabid fan again by Thanksgiving and so far its simply aint happenin'... Oh well... GO JOHNNY!

The sadness of the plight of Lambiel is that there is no one to replace him. Who else can combine such musical performance together with a technically healthy Lambiel?

This is so true and I'm not even a Lambiel fan... But there is nothing worse than competitions when the best of the best aren't all there skating it out... let's hope that he along with Joubert are ready for Worlds...

Good god, can I please remind everyone that the same exact people who are saying that Lambiel is hopeless and needs to retire were the same people who were writing the same thing about Weir as recently as this October?! You can't count people out, especially people like Lambiel. Everyone wrote Weir off, and now after one performance everyone is singing a different tune. I personally believe that Lambiel is even tougher mentally than Johnny is, and if Johnny can pull himself together after the absolute hell of a season he found himself in last year, Lambiel is perfectly capable of doing the same thing. Even if he is still not on his game at CoR, that doesn not mean that he should freaking retire. That's ridiculous! Every athlete has "down" seasons. Joubert did, Yagudin did, Weir did, Takahashi did, Oda did and so has Lambiel. And even though I am not a fan, losing to Buttle is NOT an embarrassment of the magnitude that leaves retirement as an only option.

Quite ignorant to say Lambiel needs to retire because he had a bad week LOL.

Still predict the standings to be Weir, Buttle, Lambiel

Remember Lambiel took time off from skating because he didn't have it in him or whatever the reason was. IMHO...at Cup of China...it didn't look like he was really into what he was doing. The artristy was there but something was missing. I bet if he has a disappointing season he will take some time off. I predict he will have a disappointing season. He is on the brink....and not of something good!!

I think Buttle is about to be passed in the Grand Prix and at Nationals by Patrick Chan. If Buttle is lucky enough to win silver at CoR, I think Chan will beat him in the GPF and will become the new Canadian champion.

Buttle is 25 and his jumps aren't getting any steadier. Chan is not quite 17 and his skills are still growing. It's time for the baton to be passed.

Funny, how many suddenly predict Weir to win this thing... You can look at the dates of the posts - just after CoC. Well, I would love to see him win (my signature may prove that), but I do not think that he will win. Did it never happen to you that you had a good day and nailed an exam for example and totally screwed up the next one? Well, it happened to me lots of times  so here I go...

MEN

1. Lambiel (3rd in the short, brilliant free with some wobbly and shaky landings but one clean quad-combo and one clean triple axel - I hope he does not withdraw the next days...)
2. Buttle (1st in the short, lyrical but flawed free - he gets the third best free)
3. Andrej Lutai (boring, but steady and clean with great quads in short and free)

WOMEN
1. Yu-Na Kim (first in short and free - clean in both, except one popped jump in the free)
2. Fumie Suguri (gets 5th in the short, 2nd in the free with a great comeback)
3. Joannie Rochette (bit shaky at the landings, but nice and proper during the programs - as always, 2nd short, 3rd free)

PAIRS
1. Aliona SAVCHENKO / Robin SZOLKOWY (no real reason, but my national pride commands me to say that they are going to win)
2. Dan ZHANG / Hao ZHANG (much more likely to win :p)
3. Yuko KAWAGUCHI / Alexander SMIRNOV (well, they are kind of cute)

I think that Weir could win but Lutai could be the dark horse! A lot of people were kind of angry with me, when I picked Evan and Johnny to go one/two. I'd love to see Lambiel again, but unless I hear the triple axel is back.. I don't know if Lambiel should retire or not. I think that Lambiel himself knows where he's at and if he has the desire to dedicate his life to this. I don't think people should give up on him just based one one bad season and a half...

My guess

So you are obviously predicting him to have another very bad week, so that makes 2 not just 1, according to you yourself.

I actually agree. I now expect Chan to win the Canadian Nationals as we start building towards the future. I like Jeff but his best of his career is behind him.
