Recalling Falls

It was a horrid programme, but god bless Americans comparing Olympic selection in other countries to their own which is the size of a continent. I sometimes think how amazing it is that so often in sports what are small countries in comparison to the U.S. manage to find such amazing champions! She was just not one of them.

It wasn't just the clonk on the head (WHY????) it was the combo spin right before. They say John Glenn was the first to orbit the earth. Umm, poor Agnes covered as much territory in her combination spin! 5 time national champion. Hmmph! Looking at her now, I see a gorgeous woman who never should have entered skating. And that's as nice as I will get for today. hehe

Oh come on, it wasn't THAT bad. She still had a decent opening and closing spin and landed a 2A (scratchy landing). That combo spin certainly got some Air Miles though. There have been a lot of countries that go through slumps.

Also, Agnes was as high as 8th at Worlds and 7th at Euros, and won a bronze at Skate America and a silver at International De Paris (now TEB). Not the most awful competitive record for somebody who should have never entered skating. ;) Also, she was a 6-time French champion by the end of her career.

Oh that is hilarious. Actually her coach's reaction as well the commentator's quips are more illuminating. lol.

"What can he say? He must have seen her do it thousand times." (commentator)

Here is the link to Scott Hamilton's creepy omen towards the end of Kostner's skate in 2013. He could not contain his excitement as his prediction came true.

Scott's commentary for 2013 Worlds was done after the fact. It wasn't real-time, so he already knew what was going to happen. It's very easy to tell when he's commenting live--he's not as subdued to say the least.

Hmm.. I did not know Scott's commentary was added afterwards. But when Kostner did 3F-3T earlier in that routine he sounded surprised. (presumably because he was expecting 3F-2T) He was just pretending, I guess?
