According to theskatingsession (skating podcast) via Instagram, the waltz will be back for the rhythm dances next season!! Juniors will be doing the Golden Waltz while seniors will be doing a different one. Seniors will have the compulsory pattern back and the character steps will be removed.

Edit: Christina Carreira posted that the seniors will be doing the Golden Waltz

Also I think it's interesting that they might be giving the juniors the hardest waltz to do and not the seniors. Perhaps it's because the seniors haven't done patterns in a while and the juniors consistently do them. I would like to see the seniors maybe do the Viennese Waltz.

This sounds too good to be true. But maybe the ISU has finally realised that the music of Backstreet Boys and Ricky Martin won't attract the younger viewers they were hoping for.

Too bad the teams which will do the best on this will most likely retire this year, but I am very curious how the younger teams will do.

Jr teams if doing Golden Waltz would not being doing most difficult one. That would be Westminster Waltz, which I predict is the "other" waltz the Sr teams will be doing.

La/la will be great. So will C/P I think. The Fins if they stay for sure. Possibly Gr/Par and Z/K.
Maybe the baby Brits.
The Koreans.
Turkkila & Versluis said in one interview they have wished for waltz theme for quite some time.

What I have read about 1-in-4 fan comments, many have liked the '90s theme. I suppose it would feel fresh for them. Really, what ISU should have done was to have waltz for 24-25, then '50s to '70s for Olympic season (imo, best working of these 'decadal pop music' themes, and just as if not more likely to please casuals than the '90s).

All those who complained that 120 bpm was too hard will not like this.

It is 162 bpm for the Westminster

and 186 bpm for the Golden.

Both Madison Chock and Evan Bates competed in 2009-10, though with other partners, so they have competed the Golden Waltz.

Paul Poirier competed as a senior in 2009-10, but with another partner. Piper Gilles was in Juniors with another partner.

Charléne Guignard and Marco Fabbri were in juniors.

But all three teams have done a lot of compulsory dances in their time.

Now I am hoping they all compete next year 💞💞💞 !!

And Anthony Ponomarenko's parents invented The Golden Waltz. I saw it at 1987 Worlds.

I hope he and Christina get to compete next year, too!
