Rino competed at the 30th Aichi Figure Skating Competition this Sunday (a SP-competition only), entering both the Junior and Senior category and winning them both. She also attempted a 3A in the Senior competition, but fell on it and it was downgraded in the protocols.

Photos from the event:

Some news footage from Aichi Figure Skating Competition that Rino won, including her 3A attempt.

I think she still has a long, long way to go to get that 3A rotated, if ever, but trying it in local competitions doesn't hurt as long as she doesn't get injured from it 😅

I’m so happy she is trying a triple axel. She is killing it this year with her consistency.

She is! I'm happy that Rino got to show people her skating this season... she got to a promising start in the 2019-2020 season with a JGP bronze medal but then she got injured, which essentially ended her momentum 😔

Rino skated at the Nagoya Figure Skating Festival show back in January 4, and yesterday the broadcast footage made its way to unpaid channel, so there are some new content that can be publicly shared:

Rino skated a new exhibition program, "Say Something" by A Great Big World, in a new dress 🥰

Also, I forgot to congratulate Rino on her 4th place finish at Senior Nationals! The videos of Japanese Nationals 2020 are not available due to Fuji TV's copyright on them, but she was invited to the Medalist On Ice gala afterwards, and here is her performance:

She's on the Japan reserve team for Senior Worlds, with the caveat that she will need to earn the TES minimum (which is kind of unlikely given the current state of the world right now).

I’m pretty sure she earned the TES minimum at NHK this year. Didn’t she get a bronze medal 🥉 there? Also, last year she got a bronze medal 🥉 in the Junior Grand Prix. At both competitions, she scored 190+.

I think she needed the TES minimum as a Senior, so her JGP results wouldn't qualify her for that. She was in the same JGP season with Shun Sato, and he went to Bavarian Open last year (2020) to get his senior TES minimums.

As for her results at NHK Trophy 2020, I'm not actually sure that it's counted as results from a senior international competition where her TES is counted because of the unique situation the Grand Prix series was held last year. But it's what JSF put in their statement when they made her part of the reserve team (Takahashi/Muramoto also has the same TES minimum requirement).

Rino won the Junior category at the Japan Inter-High Figure Skating Championships this week! She's part of the Chukyo High School team with Chisato Uramatsu and Kinayu Yokoi.

It was the worst competition for Rino in 2020/2021: she missed her combo in the SP (3Fturn3Tfall) and she also fell on her last combo in the FS (3S3Tfall). It's been a pretty long season for Rino already, I hope she doesn't feel too down about it.

Her performances:

Loads of pretty photos:

Getting repetitive, but Rino won the Junior category at the Winter Sports Festival this week! Team Aichi finished second after Team Kyoto, with Rino's 1st and Chisato Uramatsu's 8th placements combined.

Her performances at the Winter Sports Festival (with fabulous Mihoko Higuchi sighting at the boards sending her off):

Rino is looking strong in this beginning of the season. Almost clean programs with all combos backloaded. Her scores at her last domestic comp are really good knowing the usual conservative scoring of Japaneses judges. I'm looking forward Gensan cup. If she ends in the top three beating either Kaori or Satoko, and if she just stand up on that 3A (even if it's <), fed can seriously consider her for the battle of spots.

Congrats to Rino for her excellent free skate at 4CC!
I would have given her more but 142 is already a good score.
Well deserved small medal.

Really happy that Rino was able to finish her debut senior season with a strong skate. That Moonlight was simply magical.

Now, onto the next season and please, please stay healthy!
