Russian Junior Test Skates 2023

Alisa did the same program as last year (maybe because she missed lot of competition due to injury). A personally love this program : beautiful choreo and very expressive girl. I also appreciate the music (it’s a French famous romantic song and I’m French lol 😁). Otherwise I liked alena’s even if black swan is overused. Her arms were so so elegant !

Wow, Kulikova's SS was just wow! I was happy to see Morozova doing so well too. I haven't seen Prineva before, and I absolutely loved her skating despite the war horse music. Loved Titova's program, though I think Murav'eva might have carried it better, but Titova is growing up and I love that she is trying to tell the story too!

Zhilina's spins are coolness, but next to the other girls' programs it felt a bit underdeveloped yet. Trofimova is another new skater for me that I am looking forward to cheering on this season!

Better free than I have expected! Really over the moon that Ugozhaev had a wonderful skate, and other two favs, Puzin and Lazarev did great, loved those programs, even forgive Ave Maria... lol. The final spin from Chmil was really 😎 . Ah, can't wait for the season!

Here are the links to all the full length events so far for anyone who can't access it through 1TV or doesn't have VPN. I'll try my best to post all the upcoming events when I can :)

Finally got to watch this whole broadcast

a couple quick thoughts:

To my best objective analysis: Kira had the most impressive skate - lots of talent. Cant really comment much though because I think musically the program was abhorrent - really killed the impression for me. But still, I can be objective enough to say she was the best today, I think.

Zhilina and Titova skated just fine, but underwhelmed me a bit compared to my expectations (then again, its just a test skate, so maybe I'm being harsh). Zhilina's choreo was a bit mediocre and the song choice isnt enough to really express her talent, in my opinion. Similar thoughts about Titova - the music doesnt fit her style. The thing is, I understand them totally: their style is classical (in my opinion), but they have been doing countless ice shows and dancing days worth of classical for months - of course they want something else. Usually I'd blame laziness when the musical choice is subpar, but in this instace it makes sense. On the positive side, ill add that of course Zhilina still showed glimmers of athletic greatness (her jumping split is otherworldly). Titova also still showed enough to me that I'm just as confident as I ever was that her artistic potential is probably the greatest of all the Russian girls.

All things considered, Plushenko's team surprised me with their level of choreo - not in a good way (aside from Kira). I really hope this doesn't reflect in Mura during adult skates :drama: Maybe they'll get better a bit further into the season, since Plushenko was more focused on the ice shows recently? The choreography in the shows was very high level.

Really wish we got to see Lyubov skate, always felt shes a super underrated wild card.

Extremely excited now to see the free skates.

Masha doesn't look to be in top shape right now but she for the last few seasons have been in not so great form during the beginning of the season and only found her form during the second half of the season.
I think I need to see Masha preform this program with costumes later in the season when she is more comfortable with it to make my decision on it but it has potential.

Alisa is keeping both her programs it seems, I liked La La Land a lot last season so im not complaining.
I dont know if the pops are result of not being ready yet or her nerves but she seemed little frazzled after the 4lz fall.

I still think the channel 1 jumping competition was the worst thing for her. She seemed to have lost lots of her confidence since.

Another program I feel like I need to see in a competitive setting to make a final decision on how I feel about it but I think this will be a good free for Sofia once she gets more into preforming it later in the season.

Love the music for Sofia-she is so fast across the ice, such a powerful kid, I wonder if she is injured? She did a beautiful 3A, 3T on warmup, so she hasn't lost her jumps, just didn't pull it off here.

i dont think the 1st group is in the best shape yet, but honestly they dont need to be especially as during the ban their season starts at the same time as the seniors do. The 1st ones to preform have little less 2 months to get back in top shape again.

And Plushy's kids have had a demanding show schedule.
