Russian Test Skates 2014

From title of the YouTube channel this video is uploaded, it seems that it is official video filmed for coach and skater (remember what was said about junior skates? Officials send video and notes after the test skate). It's titled "11. Pogorilaya" so there should be at least 10 more videos of other skaters all set as private.

Is there anything to made of the fact that this was made public? Why her and why did she wear her full costume when it would seem the rest just wore their warm-up gear? Is there a connection? My guess is probably a silly one but I'd venture to guess that as a seeded skater they want to ensure that her programs are paid attention to. When the videos of Elena,Yulia, and Adelina come out maybe the Federation fears hers will be lost in the sea of programs and news stories. Would the Russian Federation even think of such things?

I don't even know what is to be gained from attention to videos online but I can't think of any other reasons to release it.

Or simply that they believe Anna's program is the most "completed" one, other SPs are still draft?

^Yeah, the music is very dramatic (a bit OTT) and her outfit makes it look like she's skating to Bach's Air on the G String instead.

Agree with you that Anna P. looks frantic. She has good speed, but not enough refinement and control over her moves. The entire thing looks sloppy to me; her spins and extensions are a big eyesore. I can't figure out how she rose through the ranks with such subpar spins.
I wouldn't call her spins "subpar" at all: the FCSp was really nice (except for the entrance) and the CCoSp was centred and fast, she only needs to hold her positions a bit longer and to refine them, her LSp is usually beautiful. Liza's spins a couple of years ago or Caro's pre-2010 spins were "subpar", Anna's spins at the moment are more than decent!

I also think its an unfair criticism. Just remember Anna and her "sloppy" style finished ahead of all the American girls at Worlds.

@Sam-Skwantch
You said "When the videos of Elena. .. come out"
So they will be accesible for public at some point? I thought these closed skate videos aren't released, only the ones from the open skates in september...
You're guess could make sense, but like you said- would the federation really think that way? Last year they didn't do anything to help Radionova either and from all the things I've heard about Tarasova and those people by now (I might be wrong) it sounds more like they focus on the strongest ones the "stars" so they win the medals for Russia.... The ones who can't keep up? Bye!
But that's only my impression.

Maybe she wanted to test the dress? I've met national skaters in Canada and they've all told me that they'll practice in their dresses sometimes to make sure they're comfortable in it, maybe she wanted feedback on it too

I don't think the Federation leaked it. But someone from Anna's side could have. For example, she may have wanted to show a friend her new program, so she would send him/her a link, the friend may have shared it with another person and someone just posted it on the forum. It is not accessible without the link so whoever wants to see it needs the link.

It's a "private" youtube video, what means only people knowing exact link can view it.
I bet vids 1-10 are already uploaded as well, you just need a link!

I am pretty sure the other video clips are there too. The only people that can leak is is the skaters family or the skaters themselves...

This. I doubt this is some RusFed or even some skater's team's conspiracy. Some one on her team (maybe Anna, maybe her coach, maybe someone else) gave the link to someone else, that person gave it to someone else, that person gave it to someone else, and at some point the person it was given to was 'fan' enough to want to share it with other 'fans'. Could have been a friend of Anna's like suggested, or a cousin, or could have been someone who does not even know her personally but knows someone who knows her coach.

If Anna P.'s spins are rated as more than decent, then almost every other senior ladies spins must be superb in comparison. She skids all over the ice (you can measure the distance in ice traveled) and looks crooked/hunched over when she does her spins. Her illusion spin makes me think she's about to go flying over. She has weaker spins than junior ladies skaters I've seen.

With Radianova now in the seniors and Sotnikova back, she needs to polish up everything if she wants a shot at the podium.

I do agree with this.

Anna is a solid technical skater but in terms of things like polish and refinement, she's at the lower end of the Russian talent pool. I think she is improving but, based on that early performance, she still needs a lot of work to smoothe her out. I like that she's going the dramatic route in her program but she needs to clean it up b/c at this point it does look sloppy.

I love Anna P. but I do agree with lilahozi about her spins. I would say they're decent and I'm being generous.

Also, I hate that music. I hate Adagio as a song version, just hate it, hate it! :bang:

Anna really needs to polish up those spins, I agree with you, Elena, Adelina and Yulia all have good spin positions so she won't be able to avoid comparisons, if she was from another country maybe it would be a different story. Her LSp is ok but still needs work, her haircutter position is fast and good but when she transitions into the Biellmann she slows down a lot.

Same here. If she was going for dramatic, instrumental would have been much more impactful than the song version. :rolleye:

Alba, where have you been these recent days? I haven't seen you on forum until this post.

Anyways, I hope Anna will improve her spin. We couldn't ask too much, like a masterpiece program in term of choreography from her, we all know Anna Pogo is not the darling of Russian Fed. At least she has better costumes now. Her programs is still new so of course she needs time to polish. Let's wish her all the best.:)

At the beach, and then, going out in the evening so I had no time these days. :)

It's not so much about the elements. After all this is a test skate, but I can't like this music. It's rubbish and I hate it.
I love her but I just can't stand this SP. :disapp:
All the best to her though. :)

Thanks to DobrinFan on FSU: Sot did no jumps, no 3/3 from Liza, some problems with jumps from Julia/Maria, Anna/Alena/Radio were decent. Alena 3t/3t (working on 3f/3t).

p.s. re-Anna P. dress.
The color is good for her, although not sure if it fits with the music. However, the problem that I have with this dress is that it looks cheap.
I'm sure this is not going to be her final costume. At least I hope so.

I know, somehow all the skaters take the new vocal rule in a BAD way!! I want to demolish that rule right away! :bang:
