I'm really excited for their second season! Whatever happens next season I hope their fed has a more transparent policy, because what happened last year was weird and definitely left me questioning whether Gadbois influence had something to do with it.

The Spanish government has approved citizenship for Kirill (and for Olivia Smart, for that matter).

Great news! Spanish Government Council granted @kirill_khalyavin the Spanish nationality ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Spain not only wins an excellent athlete but also a great human being๐ŸŒŸ My friend, my partner, my team and now under the same flagโ›ธ The best is yet to come ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Additionally, the Spanish Federation published its criteria for the one Olympic ice dance spot: it will go to the team that has the greatest cumulative points from Golden Spin and Spanish Nationals.

And I have updated the Original Post of this thread to coincide with the article.

As they are still a relatively new partnership, not all the websites I use to gather information from are up to date. So, if anybody spots something that should be included that I may have missed, please do not hesitate to let us know.

As well as updating the OP for this thread, I have also added two extra OP's to the thread for Sara and Adriร 's partnership, to cover their Singles careers.

Sara Hurtado Martรญn OP:

Adriร  Dรญaz Bronchud OP:

Incidentally, neither Ksenia Monko nor Kirill Khaliavin competed in Singles. So, that is why I decided to do it this way.

Since giving Hurtado / Khaliavin a full OP was the priority, I have not updated the OP's for either of the previous partnerships yet.

They haven't picked their fall competitions yet, but they would like to start competing in September. Kirill is also studying Spanish intensively and is improving quickly. :)

You can hear him speaking Spanish (and Sara speaking Russian) in this video from back in January:

They both sound fine to me! :agree: :points: (Says the guy who doesn't speak either language...! :p  )

Thanks, nimi (sorry if the bolding doesn't work. I don't have those options on the site's mobile version) for some reason. An interesting interview indeed. I wish them success this season. To be honest, I don't have a strong preference for them or Smart/Diaz yet. It may depend on Hurtado/Khaliavin's new programs, since I like S/D's. I wish improvement and good results to both teams, and then it will be interesting to watch how everything plays out and what competitions they get.

Sara is injured :(. https://www.instagram.com/p/BYgbo8_AHBe/

Sara: This is how you see the 3cm that have separated me from the ice the last days ... A fiber break in the right adductor that has made us reorganize our season start ... So it will not be in Lombardos where we will debut but in Finland ! โ›ธ Donยดt worry that I'm in good hands ... These setbacks are part of the sport and although they are never welcome one uses them to get even stronger.

Best wishes to Sara; hope she recovers soon. I'm anxious to see how she and Kirill are coming along in their partnership.

Their FD is great!!, Now that almost all the teams are trying a modern route, their program looks so fresh, different from the other teams.

Agreed! The FD really is perfect for Sara a to show fire and character and highlights Kirill's classical poise as well. (I hope they manage to make Kirill's jacket fit better around the shoulders, though, I think it makes his shoulders look a bit hunched up at times even though his posture is actually fine.) I'm happy they delivered a solid free in Finlandia after the TES problems they had in SD (twizzles and rumba pattern both level 1, yikes!) and grabbed the 6th spot. That means they got some ranking points out of their first international comp this season. They are now 41th in the World Standings, right after Smart/Diaz.

I really like their SD, Sara is a great dancer. I only wish Kiril would get into it more. I get the same feeling watching their FD. I keep on thinking how much better I/K were :(. But their SD is one of my favourites, I'm willing to give them more time though as Sara was recovering from an injury, so that may have had an effect.
