That's very true. The two recent threads on Sasha's book each ran to 5 pages.Eeyora said:I can't remember when was the last time a figure skating book caused so much debate. As of lately Sasha seems to be the most talked about skater on goldenskate.

In fact, I just did a quick search of the first few pages of the Edge to see which skaters are most popular on Golden Skate. The winner: Irina Slutskaya, with a total of 9123 "views" on three threads. Sasha is the second most popular.
The list:
Irina Slutskaya -- 9123 views (3 threads)
Sasha Cohen -- 9072 views (4 threads)
Sarah Hughes -- 3432 views (3 threads)
Tara Lipinski -- 2592 views (1 thread)
Michael Weiss -- 1846 views (3 threads)
Kimmie meissner -- 891 views (1 thread)
Angela Nikodinov -- 172 views (1 thread)
And in last place, poor neglected Michelle Kwan, with a pitiful 160 views (2 threads).

By the way, how do you know her on-line journal is "heavily edited by a PR team?" Is she illiterate, or non-articulate, that she cannon write her own lines about attending a birthday party, or going to the movies? At the same time you've managed to find a "controversial line" in the short preview (where she writes about skaters rushing onto the ice for the warm-up) in something that, as you assured us -- a heavily censured material. Either Cohen's book's a sweetened product of some mighty "PR machine," or it's a controversial, thought provoking read, but you cannot have it both ways at the same time.
millie said:Mathman, do you know why that is? Michelle is passe. Deep down, her fans think she is over-the-hill and they have to focus on Irina and Sasha. They know by talking about Irina and Sasha, takes their mind of her. They are so scared of what's going to happen to her at worlds, that they have to belittle other skaters.
The so-called KWEEN will be dethroned and they can't handle the reality of it. Now that I have answered my own question, what do you think.

But that's all right. I just signed up for the Katy Taylor fan club!

Let's start a new Internet war -- Taylor's Terrors against the Meissner Maniacs! And don't forget the Liang Legions and the Asada Assassins!

But Toni, how can you like them both? Kimmiefans is a sister site to Sashafans, while the Katy Taylor site just issued a special welcome to folks from the MK Forum!Tonichelle said:yeay for Katy Taylor!

Asada Assasins!!! I love that name (very "Shinsen-gumi"...private joke for those who say Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X). There should be a fanlisting for her with that name (and of course Taylor's Terrors and the other gangs as well). I am very addictive to fanlistings lately, especially those about figure skating:chuckm said:Controversial? Not at all! Just typical Sasha. Remember, she was the one who said about the 2002 Nationals "bumping" incident, that when she is on the ice she thinks only about what she is doing, not about everyone else. She's the same way about getting onto the ice first. Other skaters exist only peripherally in Sasha's world.
Mathman said:Hikaru, good grief, I never realized that there are not only fan sites for all the skaters, but separate sites for each individual program! Cool. (But after a while, what do you guys talk about, for instance at the "Aranjuez fan site"?)
BTW, I was just kidding about Kimmie, Katy and Mao. They are obviously passe and over the hill. They need to step aside so the younger skaters can have a shot at it. Does anyone want to join my new Charlie White site?

In an earlier post, you requested others to stop picking on Sasha, yet here you are, not only dissing Michelle, but her fans too. Umm, hello kettle? It's pot here. Guess what? You're black too!
Besides, the Kween was dethroned last year, when Shizuka Arakawa, a 22yo Japanese skater, won the Ladies Title at 2004 Worlds. And if Michelle is so "passe", as you claim, then why has your darling Sasha not made the most of the opportunity to win her first US title in the last few years? Oh, what happened in 2003? Uh, she fell. OK, what about 2004? Uh, she fell again. Well, what about this year? She fell (again). Splat. Splat. Splat. If the Kween is "over-the-hill", then Sasha is the US Nationals Zamboni Ice Machine.
Oh btw, just because Michelle hasn't competed under CoP, it doesn't mean she won't challenge for a medal at Moscow Worlds. She has been on the podium for the last 9 years, so only an idiot would count her out.
Welcome to the real world.

millie said:You can give your snide remarks, but you can't take them!!!! It's a joke how you treat your own skaters going into Worlds, Sasha don't represent Iraq, she will be representing the U.S. With regards to fans, Rochette and Phaneuf will represent my country and I am proud of both of them and no matter how they do, they will make us proud. PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT!!!!!!!![]()
