Sasha's latest journal

You gotta start somewhere. Better Bratz movie than no acting at all. If she really wants to start a carreer she can't be too picky. Even the best actresses have started from zero like this.

You guys are soo funny... they're just modern barbies... no biggie...

I think a lot of the clothes that both Bratz & Barbie wear look like something that a "hoochie mama" would wear. Not exactly a good example for little girls who nowadays grow up too fast as it is...

I guess I'm just old fashioned, lol!

nubka I agree they're not the role models I'd pick either...

but it's Bratz or Brittany... so I guess the lesser of two evils

I remember a story about the Bratz dolls where a Mother saw one and called them "Hooker Barbies." Fits my concept of them perfectly.

I think Sasha needs to decide what she actually wants to be. Does she want to be a "celebrity" or an "actress?" So far, she seems enamored of the red carpet and the glitter part of the lifestyle. Perhaps she is taking acting lessons-I think I heard that she was. Good for her.

But if she truly wants to be an "actress," she could probably get acting gigs more quickly on the live stage. I'll bet there are plenty of rep troupes out there who would love to put her name, and all it's recognition, on their marquee. Going the live stage route might be quicker for her, and it would certainly train her to act a lot more quickly and thoroughly than voicing over a slutty doll's few lines.

Just a thought!

While I think stage work is good training for actors, I don't think Sasha would even consider it because she would want a lead part, and at this point she is incapable of handling a major acting job. I don't think she'd be offered a major role even in repertory company, and anyway, it wouldn't pay enough for her to even consider it.

She doesn't have a good enough voice for stage work, anyway. She needs extensive voice and speech training (and that will hold her back in movies, too). Her voice is too nasal, and she has an annoying tongue-thrusting habit when she talks.

I think taking these "lesser roles" is a good idea for now. They will help her determine if this is the work she really wants to do -- and it won't hurt her to learn the extent, if any, to which film critics may be more (or less) harsh on her than certain judges -- or Brennan, Hersch and their ilk. If she decides she really wants to go into acting after this experience, she can still do stage work with a rep troupe.
