As long as the same step sequence was recognized and awarded level 4 and +1.40 GOE at the US Classic I think Mie Hamada has all the right to be angry about what happened. Thanks to the invalid step sequence, she lost 5.30 points in TES.
I was relieved they didn't drop her PCS along with her TES although as long as Medvedeva and Wagner are scoring 70 and up, 67 is still not enough. All things considered, she still managed to skate a solid free skate and make the podium. After the SP she said she was frustrated and nervous and it showed in her run-through yesterday morning. I was actually worried she'd fall or pop a jump. Not a chance. You see her falling or popping in practice or even exhibitions but never in competition; she was a totally different person. Without a doubt, the strongest fighter of all Japanese ladies.
Since most people are focused on her prerotations, UR calls and "getting what she deserves", we're overlooking a lot of beautiful improvements she's making. She's projecting to the audience, and I just love her face expressions. That face she made during the step sequence in the free? It looked like her eyes were shooting lightsabers right at the judges. Maybe that's why they invalidated it.

hwell: to me, she has one of the most interesting stsq among this season's LP and got nothing for it (and no Chris, Lori didnt choreograph this LP
) but i am sure this will fire her up instead of pull her down, her 3-3 survived this tech panel so yay?? and also 2-3 was rotated, as Tracy said she had the spring during LP that was missing at SP
)
) In any case I do like the Japan team overall, so I hope Satoko doesn't get too disheartened. She'll get her stsq4 back next time.
