Satoko Miyahara

The spanish ladies loved her. They even said that Satoko's jump technique is amazing...I think this is the first time I heard a commentator saying that.

Thanks for sharing this HQ video! They said she makes up for the lack of amplitude with her speed of rotation and that she was very confident about her jumps, making her landings look effortless. Not to mention all the praise about her spins! This is a breath of fresh air after the horrible commentary on B.ESP.

Popping in to congratulate Satoko on her second GPF silver! Her FS has become one of my favorite programs this season and I'm starting to really enjoy her SP, too.

(Semi-relevant: I recently was making some of those videos where the music to a skating program is taken off and replaced with a different piece that fits the choreography. While doing this, I discovered that her FS with the music switched to this piece https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKCKb9DZQxY is LITERALLY THE MOST EPIC THING EVER . Actually, I used three pieces from the same soundtrack for the edit of her free skate, but that one went with her StSq and it fit particularly well.)

I always feel Satoko's jumps in slow motion looks like jumps in real time~~ Praise the tiny Queen.

Just watched Johnny and Tara's commentary, it's nice to hear their comments on it. I remember how they warmed up to her last season, after seeing how her hard work made her improving her skating and expression, and they praised this FS performance. Tara also basically said that while she's tiny, that doesn't stop her for being able to deliver, including how she has gorgeous lines and great choreo:

EDIT: need to update my profile pic a bit :p

This is better than the NHK commentary where Johnny was trying to sell me on how Satoko "really fought through this program and Anna had better artistry." :rolleye: Easy to say when you know the results already...

I love that she is coming out of her shell more XD I also love that gif that was shared in Tumblr (where she, Zhenya and Anna had a good giggle while trying squeezing together on the podium for the photo op)

also I don't know if it's mentioned here before but did anyone listen to Ice Network podcast? In episode 3 (with guest Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir and John Coughlin), John Coughlin mentioned how he thinks Satoko is the most underrated skater ever, and that she's the best in the world XD He was completely enamored with her skating skills, the way she uses her knees etc. Worth a listen!

She's come out of her shell enough for her and Yuzuru to become so close (upgrade from "Hanyu-kun" to "Yuzu-kun" while "Yuzu-kun" is comfortable enough to tickle her)

Wow, that's very bold of John Coughlin. He thinks she's underrated and the best while other people think she's overscored and one of the worst. That's how you know you've made it!

haha she does make for a very polarized fanbase and it's really interesting imho XDD

He thinks she would make a fantastic ice dancer :3 You have to listen to the bit where he spoke about her jumps, you just have to.
I want to stand up and clap when he said it XD

Loved Satoko's FS, especially at Marseille, so fierce! It was the highlight of the ladies for me. I did not hear the BESP commentators and now I don't want to, WTH :frown: I watched the press conference and now I want to hear her english more :o:.
Good luck at Nationals!
