Satoko Miyahara

Yes, she did say her jumps get smaller when she's nervous. Which is very costly for her, she cannot afford that. The 3Lo already got better and in my eyes was more rotated at GPF than at Skate America and didn't raise much of a question so I'm hoping the 3Lz-3T and 3F will follow. It is, however, impressive that she doesn't seem to have trouble with the flip edge anymore and it makes me wonder whether that's an additional worry whenever she jumps the flip.

Agreed. Imho, if she skates with less nerves at nationals, she could look more impressive. I also think that she can surprise us later in the season (haters will go crazy but I'll just laugh at them). Unfortunately the gpf in Jpn was probably her best chance to shine internationally, but she wasn't bad in any way, as a whole she had a medal worthy performance.

Congrats to Satoko for her beautiful SP at nationals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNHYXcnlWFc Second place for less than 1 point

Her program is so exquisite, and wow, she has become in a really gorgeous girl

And a programme that deservedly received the highest PCS. Satoko’s interpretive skills and choreo here is really peerless and her combo on slow mo surprisingly looks a lot less pre rotated. Certainly a good shot for the olympics just for her solid competitive nerves.

Gorgeous skating from Satoko! I know she has had problems with her jumps but in every other aspect of her skating imo she is the class of the field!

she is just exquisite! close up of the opening during replay is everything:love: hopefully she will be more relaxed during LP and will jump better (and still hoing for 2 2A3T  )we sometime criticize Lori for being too generic or repetetive but this program truly is one of Lori's masterpieces :luv17: and it keep getting better and better, she uses every note of the music brilliantly

I don't think I've seen Satoko as nervous as she was today. She even had to save the 2A with a deep knee bend. But everyone was very nervous and I have to remind myself not to judge her jumps harshly because she couldn't jump at all until October and now her practice time is still less than 50% of the amount she used to do before getting injured. As always she tends to underrotate when she gets nervous but I'm glad the judges called it. It's very interesting how the TES box turned pink whenever an element was reviewed by the judges. In Satoko's case, both the 3Lz-3T combo and the 3Lo were reviewed.

Hoping that she can relax enough to deliver her free and keep at least top 2 so sending her can be an easy decision. Still crossing my fingers for her and Wakaba to be top 2.

Satoko showed today for me that she is willing to step up and focus under pressure - yes, those jumps were nervy as heck, but it takes a great champion's mind to keep the integrity of whole performance intact and still managing to capture the spirit of the music and character to mesmerize audiences. Her big weapon for me is the fact that her materiał feeds off so much from her artistic skills and makes people to focus on the performance as a whole, integral unity, how separate elements are put together and interpreted by Satoko herself. She makes You be in this very moment and makes You remembef it, giving it 'lasting power'. Another value for me is how 'transformative' her programs are - she gets transformed and the programs themselves are evolving. And there goes this outstanding quality of Satoko's skating in general: how she operates blades, how she integrates it with upper body movement, how she gesticulates, works with choreography and music... I am simply glad that PCS score reflects that, despite so much vile poured over her jumps, it is the easiest to dismiss skaner using criteria that are against him/her...

And my mom is also a Satoko fan, apparently, as we watched SP together while baking in kitchen

Congratulations on the second place for SP Satoko.
I'm proud of her coming back after a difficult season with injury and can be the Olympic team after missing out on her chance in 2014 this is a great example to follow.
well it does not matter for the call URs I think it will catch up for the LP.

I send you waves possitive tinyqueen

According to this article Satoko's left leg has been bothering her again. She took 2 days off after GPF so there wasn't much time to prepare for Nationals like she might have originally wanted. She went to the hospital to get an MRI and the doctors told her there was no abnormality found.

its a relief that there isnt a problem, maybe its because her body is still getting used to training since she is increasing the time little by little, at least i hope thats the case

What a solid and emotional FS from Satoko! Very happy for her! Looked like she was enjoying there, could still focus on the interpretation and forget the pressure of the important skate. The joy of skating was there inside her all through the program. She is in a very good shape now and hopefully the injuries won´t bother her anymore this season.
She still has time to work with her jumps before the Olys.

Satoko delivered a great FS, and sealed her place at the Olympics! Well done! It takes a lot to bring a coach to tears...

Along with Kaori, the only one who managed her nerve and enormous pressure of the event and stakes in it. My deepest admiration a do respect to a tiny skater with love for skating and soul for it bigger than any obstacle and opinion. A true triumph of the spirit above physicality - she told the story not only about Madame Butterfly there, but also her own, full of appreciation of where she is now. The skating felt delicate, intricacy of movement captured attention, but what made a centerpiece for me was raw emotion expressed by her eyes and face - the moment, pause after second 2A and close - up on her face reached deep inside of me, she truly was so into performance, dedication/affection so visible and palpable... Also, so rare to see nowadays attention to detail both in music and movement, so much care and thought put inside every movement and expression. For me, this was a celebration of Satoko's return to competition in finest way possible. Mie Hamada's reaction mirrored my own, but I imagine her emotions were much more intense - she was with Satoko on thick and thin during the most difficult person and this was a Victory today in more sense than one, for more people than just Satoko herself.

Yay, Satoko in the olympics!!!:yahoo::dance::hap93::yes2:. After this difficult year she is even more admirable :luv17:

bravo tinyqueen for your 4th crown and your ticket for the Olympics after having failed so close to the goal in 2014. shows us a beautiful Sayuri in Korea.

I keep watching his programs especially step step sequence, I'm proud of her. it will silence its XD haters:love::yahoo:

i am Mie Hamada after her skate! she couldnt stop crying, and was cute wearing matching scarf :luv17: never saw Satoko so emotional, what an inspiring person she is (all of these ladies really, what an immense pressure it is!), never gave up when everyone else did and proved them wrong time and time again :luv17:

PS: hey ioanna, one of your favourite part is back!
