Satoko Miyahara

Happy Birthday Tiny Queen I can not believe that she is already 20 years old and one of the oldest of the Japanese women's team, for me she will always be the AS of the women's team she is the one who maintained Japanese skating in 2015, congratulations to her, it's a pleasure to see her evolving artistically, she can be small jumps but a big skating.

Happy Birthday Tiny Queen!!!! :hap10: may you have a long, successful career and give us a lot more splendid skates to remember :)

Happy birthday Satoko!! Thank you for giving us such beautiful programs this year and performing them splendidly so many times!:luv17: I can't wait to see what she will do next and hope she has a long, long career!

I really dislike his commenting. Sometimes I think he just likes to hear himself talk whether it is relevant to
a skater or not, he just babbles on. I think I know more about figure skating than he does. lol

I think he is particularly negative toward Satoko, never recognizing her qualities and emphasizing her little jumps. He also does not seem to know much about skaters outside US or what is scripted. I prefer Tanith's commentary of those on NBC.

Happy birthday Satoko!

I had the pleasure of watching her live at Worlds and although her FS was pretty rough it was good to see her winning another World medal and to watch the medal ceremony. That doesn't happen often. :) I thought the bronze medal here was a great reward for all the hard work she's done this season. Looking back to her Sayuri at THE ICE where she could barely do double jumps, and then NHK Trophy where a lot of people were saying she had no chance of going to the Olympics, it's been a miraculous season and an inspiring comeback story.

Regarding Satoko on video vs Satoko live:

- Her jumps weren't any better or any worse live, it was a case of what you see is what you get. They certainly didn't distract me in a negative way or anything. I can confirm she does get off the ice, contrary to popular belief ;)
- Her skating skills are sublime. While not the fastest or most powerful, she was the only one who gave me the impression that she was flying across the rink. It almost felt like her feet weren't touching the ice at all and she was just floating like a sparkly blue hummingbird :) Which is also the reason why her super fast rotational speed is endearing.
- She's a great story teller. In the past I've seen people say all the details in her choreography or interpretation aren't as noticeable live but I noticed everything and my seat was pretty far up. The way she uses her arms and hands is just beautiful and that made her stand out from the rest.
- As I said in another thread, the audience was very loud during the last group. Carolina was leading after the SP and the Italian fans were cheering all the time. While a supportive audience is generally great, I thought they made too much noise and the skaters could barely concentrate. I was observing Satoko in the 6 minute warm up and she had a lot of trouble with her jumps - a couple of shaky UR 3Lo attempts, some doubled 3Lz and 3F and ironically a clean 3S... so I was prepared for a rough program.

On the news about the 3A: she was already practicing it after 2016 Worlds, probably with the plan of including it this season for the Olympics. I remember posting about it here back in 2016 and the news getting the usual sarcastic comments. After all the injuries and almost a year away from the ice she stopped attempting it. But the fact that she wants to challenge it again makes perfect sense to me; after all it was work in progress 2 years ago and she was actually very optimistic and excited about it. So as long as she keeps taking care of her body, why not? Is the 2A-3T not the best jumping pass she does in her programs? I don't think 3A or even 3A-3T is impossible. If there's anything I've learned in the past 12 months, it's the fact that Satoko can make the impossible possible. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SATOKO :hap10: Congratulations also for the Worlds bronze and for lovely performances there. Love both of your programs of this season.

I have knitted socks for Satoko and would like to send them to her but can´t find the address of Kansai University Ice Skating Club anywhere. If someone here knows it could you please post it here, thanks a lot!!!

wishing the happiest birthday to our Tiny Queen!!! may the new year brings her happiness, health, joy and more success!! she sure gave herself a great present with the bronze medal :luv17: just continue you to be you Satton :love: now that the season is overi cant wait to see her new programs!! and upped tech, whether it be 3A or 2A3Lo that we saw in one of footages :dance3:

Love Jackie but I find he is a little biased towards US skaters nothing wrong with that but
I take it with a grain of salt. Bradie was not under scored anyone with eyes could see that
and her PC's were about right.

She did a good job and her placement was correct.

I have noticed that about Jackie. He did not call the under-rotations of Vincent and Nathan in sp during his play by play.

:luv17::luv17::luv17:

They are so cute sets really beautiful friendship, it was so moving when they crying together, shame that the next year they can not be together in Grand Prix.

I did not know she was doing 2A-3lo I saw it thanks to your messages, if she landed it in 2015 it can be solid now? it is very beautiful, I hope that Satoko next year will continue to surprise us with these beautiful programs and that she keeps a good health.

I had seen it on this tumblr it looks good, yes I think in fact that with his injuries last year it has not retried but it's already great that she tries new something to improve his skating whether it is arthistique or technique.

Welcome back Satoko I hope that Star on Ice next week will be broadcast so we can see his EX.

I know I am late, but - happy birthday Satoko, only the best for You!!!
It is more than a week now since me watching Satoko in Milan live - funny that she was the first skater I saw at practice when I arrived in the arena. I saw and I cried: from all emotions and the beauty Satoko gave, even by her practice performance. I was only at Ladies SP, but it was enough to realize why Satoko's skating has such impact and power of getting to the people. She projects BIG and really makes her body sing to the music used in program, she May have not the biggest, most impressive jumps, but she has carriage, speed, edge work, control of body movement, sophistication, elegance in presence that draws you in and keeps you interested. Like all Japanese skaters I saw in person, she confirmed my impression of their incredible musicality - there is also a consciousness, mature sensitivity in Satoko's movement, this attention to detail, ability to capture a moment and save it in people's memory. And the dress - boy, it was all sparkle in person, she looked beautiful, radiant, regal !!!
And watching her performances with commentary after being back from Italy... Well, she has no Kaetlyn's personality, because she is not her, simple as it is - there is different vibe, sensibility about both of them, but I personally am able to appreciate both for what they are doing, not criticizing them for what they are not like. Satoko represents way more than just small jumps to nitpick on - if someone is unable to get past that, it is his/her problem. I will be forever grateful for having that opportunity to see Satoko's skating live, to feel that emotional package, sublime vibe it carries. And her winning bronze, after all she has been through, was the most moving story for me.

It seems that Satoko made a new version of her Madame Butterfly, she also had the sublime black dress she had during the tour The Ice, it's strange that we have little video.
she also played Concierto de Aranjuez
