You will notice her skating skills more, and how she's so effortless and flows over the ice with ease.

Stephane Lambiel talked about Satoko in an interview with ITL podcast:

Of the few programs that you haven’t choreographed this season, has anyone stuck out to you in particular choreographically? What have you enjoyed?

Stéphane: I really really enjoy Satoko Miyahara, I think she is a very refined skater. What I love about her is that she’s not only executing but she’s really feeling the music and that’s something that is quite rare nowadays because, like we said before, we have so much to focus on during the program that sometimes, the music is kind of next to the program. When I see Satoko, I can feel that she’s connecting with the music, connecting with the audience, connecting with herself and that’s something I really enjoy when I watch her. When we choreograph together, she’s always very receptive; it’s the way she applies and the way she puts the movement in action, [it] shows me she’s a really fantastic artist and a fantastic skater.

Same here! I've been to several skating events over the past few years and kept missing the chance to see her, so I'm excited! Gooo Satton! :hap10::hap10::hap10::hap10:

Cute pics of Satoko, Rika and Kaori after practice in Vancouver. Seems like they've been practicing at a rink in the suburbs.

Oh, it‘s so great to see them so happy. Really cute pictures. I love all three of them so I‘m really excited to watch the final. And of course I‘m wishing Satoko lots of luck!! :cheer:

It surprises me that they are there already, though. Is jetlag from Japan to Canada worse than from Europe (Russia) to Canada? Because I know that Alina and the rest of her team as well as the junior girls are flying today.
How many days has Team Japan been in Canada already?

I think the girls arrived yesterday, but Shoma arrived even earlier. Satoko and Kaori don't seem like they are affected by jetlag, since they competed at Skate America not far from Vancouver, in Everrett WA and both skated extremely well. We'll see about Rika.

Pretty sure they were at Canlan Ice Sports in North Vancouver. We think Shoma arrived last Friday. The ladies looked good in practice today and certainly didn't look jetlagged.

Satoko's statements after practice

"Although there is no big difference in terms of feeling, I am in a particularly good physical condition this season and I was able to practice firmly for this competition. I want to [skate] with confidence."

"My condition has improved considerably. I'd like to improve it even more, but I've got a good feeling. I've been practicing my steps clearly and I want to reproduce that in competition."

Jackie Wong tweeted that she wasn't looking as sharp as she was in practice at Skate America, hopefully she can adjust in time for the competition.

Satoko's statement after the SP: "I replicated in competition the bad jumps I was doing in practice. It's not that I lacked confidence, it's just that I jumped badly and so I want to change this and give my best in the FS tomorrow."

Seems like Jackie Wong was right in his practice observation that the timing of the lutz was wrong. I also think she may have felt pressured to skate after Rika's WR. Hoping for a comeback in the free and hopefully she will keep tweaking her technique in time for Nationals.

She looked uncharacteristically nervous :( But if anybody can give us a beautiful free skate, it’s Satoko. Looking forward to the tango!

Jumps aside, Satoko is the only skater who moved me to tears in practices. Here's hoping for a strong, exquisite free program!

Probably a combination of the lutz trouble in practice and hearing that massive score just before her program. :sad21: The field is so deep in Japan, she's probably already thinking ahead to Nationals. Maybe now that the pressure is off, she can skate a good tango. I felt both tangos at Skate America and NHK were a bit nervous due to her having to defend after the SP.

This wasn‘t her best and I‘m sad she‘s in last place but I hope she will come back in the FS and fight. She is still the most beautiful skater out there, her SS are sublime. Her interpretation suffered a bit today but still... Satoko is special. I hope she will do well in the FS and wish her all the best.

I wish for Satton to come back stronger in the free. I know she can do it. :hap10:

During the live translation I was heartbroken after seeing her scores, worried look and overall standing. But now I re-watched it in calm state and it wasn't actually so bad! So I don't like pcs they gave her (in comparison to others) even more.
I believe she can do great fs. Go Queen!
