Score Sheet Comparison - Sasha and Irina

Sasha skates much better at cheesefests than she does at mega-important events, when her competition nerves kick in and make her more tentative. Irina sometimes suffers from nerves too, but she sure didn't in Moscow. Irina is a better competitor than Sasha, and that counts for a lot.

Does Irina really have the advantage with consistency on her jumps? Irina doesn't regularly churn out 7 triples programs. Even worlds - the third loop didn't count so that was 6 triples. Europeans was what 3 triples? How did she do in the GP? When was the last time she did a 7 triple program? While I agree that falling for Irina is quite rare she does tend to pop the jumps the might otherwise fall on - triple flip at SLC notwithstanding!

nah, actually she hasn't been very consistent.. but has delivered before in 2002 with 6 clean triples during her free skate. she can do it but she's not near as consistent as she should be to be a virtual lock for gold of course... but in comparison to sasha, then yes, she is more "consistent."

Well, if you check out Sasha's competing history, she is getting more consistant now than before....she said it herself that now she is able to save the jump that would be fall in before.....IIRC, Peggy used to say her supper hype flexibility might contribute some to her unability to landing the jumps, now conjunct another post I across today in another board, he/she said he/she notice that Sasha's superdup flexibility is not as outstanding as she had first come out, may be Peggy was onto something. "Less flexibility, more able to hold landing edges"?

Both Sasha and Irina will likely see their PCS scores go up and the season progresses. I will say one thing I noticed about the Campbells scoring, is that Sasha's GOE marks for her jumps are higher than she will get anywhere else, I gaurantee it, and that is one area Irina will beat her overall on the jumps both do cleanly.

Hopefully any given judging panel will be consistent across the competitive field in either being generous, stingy, or "middle of the road" with GOE. But under any given judging panel, I completely agree that Sasha has low odds to beat Irina on jump GOE unless Irina melts down. (and I think a Sasha melt down is statistically more possible, considering history)

I would like to say more, but then I would be treading dangerously close to Spoiler turf. So I will save it for the Events Folders.
