skaters to watch

Jessica Dubé / Bryce Davison
Meagan Duhamel / Craig Buntin - formed last June, progressing as a team in a very short time
Rachel Kirkland / Eric Radford - spectacular showing at German national, disappoint SP last night
Anabelle Langlois / Cody Hay - leader after SP
Jessica Miller / Ian Moram - will they try a quad throw tonight?
Kyra Moscovitch / Dylan Moscovitch - brother/sister, fun to watch, they can threaten podium spot any time, worst case, they should be in the national team.

And awwwway we go!!! :)

Many thanks to Fumie for doing the PBP. I honestly don't know how you do it. :)

D/D now in first with a score of 120.54 in the free.

The video player on CBC is driving me insane. It won't let me watch any of the skating. Grrrr. I sent a complaint to CBC.

So, Dube/Davison beat their LP personal best by a little over 5 points. Did anyone see the program? What did they land?

I've been watching it with no problem. I wonder why you can't get it to work.

...it just came back on for the final flight...

sorry for the folks waiting for pbp, I just came back from babysitting and I needed to keep an eye on the little fella. I didn't even watch the event. arrggh...

I will do pbb for the mens'.

I think it's more Skate Canada's way of placing a National team that will place well at the World Championships. Duhamel/Buntin have been together for such a short period of time and do not yet have the backing of international judges or the international success/track record of Dube/Davison.

LH

throw 3s to open the program, strong
sbs 3t-2t, good
3 twist, good
spread eagle to 3 s, both have problem landing, not fully rotated.
lift, good variations of position
sbs spin, a little bit out of sync
spiral, they floated
throw 3 lutz, boy this is huge
lift, a lot of variations in position, good centering.
program builds up in intensity
lift, another good one
step sequence using musical highlights nicely.
death spiral, cody had a slight problem, establishing pivot initially.
pair combination to conclude the program.

Yes, and?

That shouldn't matter. Megan and Craig had the better skate, they should be in first.

No way should Jess and Bryce be placed over them. I do agree w/them on the Podium and going to Worlds, but not as Two Time Cdn Champions. Which is what it looks is about to happen.

Wow, Langlois/Hay really SQUEAKED out that win, such a close margin! Congrats to them on their first National title together!

I don't believe it!!

Congratulations Annabelle and Cody!!!!

Loved Bella's reaction when she realized they'd won it.
