MOSCOW, September 11. / TASS Veronika Sovyetova.
Against the background of his colleagues in the game that aren't the most stable, Russian skater Sergey Voronov remains the most reliable element of men's single skating in the country.
This opinion was expressed in an interview by TASS with the famous Russian coach, Olympic champion Oleg Vasil'yev.
Last weekend, Russian skaters for the first time demonstrated their programs in public at the Open Test Skates in Luzhniki. The majority of our leaders of men's skating could not accurately execute their programs, with the exception of 31-year-old Voronov.
"Voronov relies on experience, he knows how to deal with stress, keeps his calm outwardly. Although he is not very competitive in the fight for medals at the World Championships, his experience is the support of our men's team. Stability and stress resistance of Voronov are very valuable qualities for our male figure skating, I think", said Vasil'yev.
“There is hope that Alexander Samarin, due to his willpower and desire, will cope with the difficulties at the beginning of the season - he is a fighter who gives all his best in every jump, concentrates morally, even without such a brilliant technique as Mikhail Kolyada's. I don’t know what is happening with Mikhail, whose jumping technique is almost close to ideal, nothing has changed since last season, despite changes in his personal life”, the specialist emphasised.
Kolyada's past season was not marked by major successes, Samarin won the silver in the European Championship in Minsk, Voronov reached the final of the Grand Prix series, where he took sixth place.
