Congrats to Shoma for winning the FS and for having the highest PC's. . I won't congratulation him on the Silver because he
should have won the Gold. Very disappointed in the scoring not only of Shoma but Marco and Charlene as well in the Ice Dance Comp.

Good fight Sho! You are the class of the field! Whew, the stillness, silence, and strength that goes into that second half is mind-boggling. I don't know how he does it! I understand that people love when a skater goes flying around the rink like a runaway freight train (didn't see that today), but Sho's skating has evolved WAY beyond that at this point! The free skate has always been his strength, and he really showed it today...So in the review, 12 GOE points were taken away? Um, ok! And Judge #7, you might want to make an appt. with your optometrist ASAP!

Couldn't watch live and have only watched Sho and Yuma. And congratulations to Yuma for holding up so well under huge pressure. He has a lot to be proud of. Now to enjoy watching the rest.

Still, LOTS to look forward to. Can't wait for the GPF. It's going to be (as we say!) a barn burner!

I also believe that Shoma should have won this event, but at least he lost to his rinkmate and classmate Yuma. I don't think he could have had anyone better to lose to in this tournament. 🥲 I'm attempting to look on the positive side here, so I'm glad Shoma qualified for the Grand Prix Final. I definitely feel like he will move on easily and see this as a learning experience.

Maybe if Shoma changes his free skate costume, it could help? 😂 I really dislike how the upper and lower halves of the torso are so different from one another and it just seems too dark somehow...

This could have easily gone either way. Yuma still has a ways to go with projection and performance, but he is a very good jumper. I still think Sho is the most well-rounded skater right now. There are a lot of positive things to take away here. First of all, this is the first season he has ever gotten started so late -- no Challenger, no Japan Open, very late GP. All that was his choice of course, and he did that to have the experience of OPOI. He's not sitting at home crying. He knows how this goes. I'm sure he has seen Yuma in practice. He knew what he was up against.

Funny with that costume. When I've seen it up close, it is BEAUTIFUL, and it has an incredible amount of detail (and probably cost a fortune).. I don't like it out on the ice though. I agree it is too dark for him. Dark makes people look smaller. Is that really what he wants? And the dark is so harsh against his pale skin. (BUT he's still beautiful).

Interesting remarks from Sho. He rarely says anything like this. Hopefully this will inspire his preparation for the GPF. He doesn't seem upset though. He's been at this a long time. He knows how things work. Was the time violation that he ended after the music? That's what I'm assuming. Adding: Watching the whole men's FS now and see that Camden ended after the music. No time violation. ?

I’ve got a message I wanted to post here for Shoma because I believe he and his team check in on the forum.

Konnichiwa Unosan,
I heard your thoughts after NHK Trophy finished. I’m sorry that you feel that you might withdraw. You have time to decide what you want to do so no need to rush. If it’s expression that you want to keep showing then I think you have your answer, but you are the one that makes the final decision. I think you skated phenomenally 😊 You seem satisfied with what you have done this season. There are so many questions to think about isn’t there? Whatever you decide, it’ll be the right decision. Whatever you decide, I’ll be there to support you 100% you’re an amazing figure skater and person Uno Shomasan. I think the only expectation I have for you is that you keep your heart and mind open to possibilities both in and outside of skating. Just do what you think is best and what makes you truly happy. You have Marin, Kazuki, Stéphane, your family, and so many more there for you. You’ll be okay Shoma.

I was refreshing my memory on Sho's accomplishments during the GP series throughout his career! Wow! 8 gold, 6 silver. Figuring the GPF separately - 2 bronze, 2 silver, 1 gold. So 19 medals in total. Not bad. I'm sure some skaters would give anything just to medal once!

Today definitely improved as it went along. What a wonderful "pick me up". Feels like Christmas a month early. I received a package from Japan from a kind friend. It was full of treasures!!!! I will be waving my cheer towel (at home) during the GPF!

Hmm, I don't necessarily think it's the darkness itself that's the issue. The original Sholero outfit was black, but had some beautiful gold details that were consistent across the entirety of the costume and accentuated Shoma in a positive way. With the Spiegel costume, it definitely feels more like getting swallowed up by a void because the design just isn't bright enough, isn't a consistent design, and doesn't accentuate him enough...
It probably cost thousands of dollars...but I still don't like it. 😂

I am also thinking that it might benefit him to wear something a little brighter because it seems like most men are wearing dark shirts... he could stand out from the crowd even if he wears dark green! 😁

well... i love him in all colours but i will never forget Shoma as a leprechaun. Since then, I chase rainbows.
Listen, that costume was unforgettable! :laugh2: And I can say I was there in person to see it in the flesh as he made his Grand Prix debut. I remember everybody kinda goin' "What WAS that?!" Black is absolutely not his color.
