I don't think Itsuki has missed school that much. Japanese school year starts in April and ends in March. Most students are on spring vacation now. Itsuki is four years younger than Shoma, that means he recently graduated from his junior high school. So, he has longer vacation. Also, they have about two-week winter vacation around New Year's Day.
His school is focused on international education. That might help him?

Hello to everybody! First of all, I am sorry for my English, it's my second foreign language.

About the school year in Japan - it is very different from most Western countries. Japanese school year is divided into several terms and it starts in April, so during these days the end of the school year is slowly coming. The holidays will be from the 1st of April till the 17th of April with the new school year starting right after that.

Itsuki is very good at hiding. As soon as he realized I was going to take Shoma's picture, he put his head down! I'm gonna get a picture of him yet!!!! https://pic.twitter.com/hf6FiWbJZB

ETA -- Yes xeyra that's his "off day" hair as opposed to performance hair! :laugh2:

Welcome to GS and Shoma's Fan Fest @Chuchoteri! Your English is great and thanks for clearing up the school year in Japan.

Lots of interesting thoughts from Shoma on competing this season, training, etc. He goes into more detail about what his Chicago training was like. I also KNEW that smol bean would have gone from Canada directly to the rink to practice for the ice show he was in! :drama: Oh to be that young again! :)

Thanks for sharing. He's amazing. I want him to podium so much. It's going to be hard, but I hope he can finally be satisfied by both his programs. I'm getting nervous. Last years Worlds is still fresh in my mind. Shoma, fortunately, doesn't live in the past and what-ifs!

I really liked his interview. But Shoma, quit putting yourself down so much. I guess it's a very Japanese thing to do.

It's kind of interesting to see how he had a momentary lapse on his goals about improving artistry over jumps when there was talk about him adding the 4S too, but I'm glad he went back on it and is focusing on just improving his layouts now so it increases his chances of going clean.

I leave tomorrow. That is, if I have my suitcase packed by then! I want to just blink my eyes and be there! I have a few flags but no Shoma-kun banner. I would love one of those that has his name with the orange sun for the letter "O". Too late now though. And I don't even have a gift for him. Oh well, next time!...I will be posting a few reports and photos, although it's hard to discipline myself when I get in the excitement of the moment. I think Shoma's first practice is at 11:15 am Monday. And the burning question -- what coat will Fluffy be wearing!?

At the airport about to board! I have a 3 hour layover in NYC but it's straight to Helsinki from there!

Arriba
& Danibellerika safe travels & have a blast at Worlds! Cheer as loud as you can for all of us, who can't be there with you (we're there in spirit!) :hap10: Hope that all of Shoma's plans come to fruition and he'll be happily fist-pumping after both of his performances. :cheer2: Will be sending him loads of good vibes from my sofa in front of the TV when it's time for him to step on the ice and of course I will be looking out for purple/lavender t-shirts in the audience - please wave at the camera, so we know it's you. ;)

Also, good luck with skater encounters. Guess you two know, that apart from Shoma reports I'll be very excited to hear about any Dai-chan sightings (maybe you're lucky enough to catch the two of them together)!:party:

a clean shoma is much more dangerous than a shoma with a 4s and some roughness.... go babyboy !

Hi everyone! Thanks for your information and updates! My terribly busy days kept me from stopping by here. Im so sorry!
I will go to Helsinki for men's events, practice and ex. I will bring my camera and pc, so I want to share my report and if possible photos. I really wish all skaters can show the performance which they want to achieve!

Go! Shoma!

Thank you! I'm here and getting settled. The room is nice and we're next to the skater's hotel so maybe there will be some sightings! If I met Dai I'd die :drama:. And no worries, I made sure to pack my purple sweater dress so it'll be doing double duty on Thursday!

Safe trip and enjoy Worlds to those going to Helsinki ! Waiting for your reports
Thank you! Reports are part of the job!
