Count me in for the prayer circle and positive vibes for Sho. Once his health returns he needs to stay
focused on himself and try not to let the pressure of the GPF being in his home town and possibly being the only
member of his team to attend GPF get inside of him. Sho does not do well with pressure remember his Nationals last season.
Prior to the competition he was saying he was relaxed and did not feel any pressure but he did admit after Nationals that
he did in fact feel the pressure get inside of him.

Shomita you can win this this event! (see I am starting my positive thoughts today)

Were there any photos from the Banquet? Or was there a Banquet?

he also carries veggie juice in his luggage for competitions but "forgets" to drink them

Japanese veggie juice is YUMMY!! It tastes NOTHING like vegetable, it tastes like fruit juice! I always drink and buy a lot back home when i go to Japan. PLEASE SHOMACHKA PLEASE DRINK THEM!!! 150mL per day is not hard!!! (definitely easier than landing a 3A;) )

The making of Shoma’s ‘Turandot’ costume by Satomi Ito

The Pyeongchang Olympics is this February.

“Because we are talking about athletes, I’m sure standings and records are important, but as an audience member, there is this part of us that wants to watch a performance that can only be done once in that moment. We develop a wish to see performances like that. I believe ‘Turandot’ will turn into an incredible program. It would be great to see it in that state at the Olympics.”

She awaits for the day that athletes step on the big stage and receive showers of applauses together with the costumes made with the heart and soul of the creators.

That's fascinating. They started to work on this costume in January, wow.
Also, interesting stuff about this Roman impressions, and a church with blue pillars decorated with gold. Why did not I think about this before, it all makes sense: blue and gold, and stars, all so typical for church decoration (particularly the vaulting). I tried to remember a church with blue pillars and golden decoration in Rome (visited quite a lot of them while being there), but alas. Something like that might have been an inspiration though (it's Santa Maria sopra Minerva): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Maria_sopra_Minerva#/media/File:Santa_Maria_sopra_Minerva_(Rome)_-_Inside_HDR.jpg
And, of course, this combination of colors immediately reminded me of one famous church in St Petersburg in Russia, the so-called Church of the Saviour on Blood (Спас на Крови) -- https://www.google.ru/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj1sbvgmtPXAhWEJJoKHcS6BVEQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcat-cat-cat.ru%2Ffotografii%2Fhram-spasa-na-krovi.html%2Fattachment%2Fsobor-voskreseniya-hristova-spas-na-krovi-13&psig=AOvVaw0MZH3q1AfLtAWNnzdUQwaI&ust=1511475229982012

Thanks for the links. Makes one want to travel to these places.

Honestly speaking I think this costume of Shoma's is the best costume of a male figure skater that I have seen in a long, long time. And it's clear why that is, it's been thought about, designed and planned for months. There was no rush. The only problem is the collar, and I hope they find a solution.

What absolutely amazes me about that costume is, that in my opinion, it is a work of art. A lot of things happen, and it's only just a shirt as the pants are pretty simple. Shoma is so small and so much happens in that costume but it still doesn't overpower him. It still doesn't feel like Shoma is masquerading around in something that isn't him. It's an amazing fusion and Satomi Ito is an awesome lady who just knows how to bring out the best in skaters. Great!

Satomi Ito will always be #1 in my book for having created the Loco costume! She is a genius, and I wondered how she would top that amazing work of art. And then she designs this beautiful Turandot for the Prince / Emperor. It's tricky with Shoma because he's so tiny, but these costumes make him look even more handsome (who would have thought that was possible?!?!) and give him an even better presence on the ice. When I look at some of the other costumes she has designed too, I'm in awe. https://www.instagram.com/stm_ito/

I was thinking that Shoma started to go on the ice again just one week before the competition. That means...he never trained on ice in Japan before arriving in France after SC. And to be on that unfamiliar ice when he just came back from sickness must've been hard. It certainly wasn't an advantage, that's for sure.

This is nothing new but it made me love Coach Fluffy even more.

She knew Shoma is disappointed with his performance so she gently pulled him for a hug.

And he still is able to muster up the tiniest of smiles. At least he wasn't crying! :clapper: I noticed when he came off the ice that he had a lot of the Japanese camera people right in his face!

"Now, here's the choice of most of the females here... Shoma Uno..." Is it just me, or do the BESP uncles say the darndest things?:laugh2: In a competition in Europe with Javier Fernandez and Gillaume Cizeron, that's quite a compliment! Of course, I don't know what evidence that was based on...

Beautiful pictures! By the way, am I seeing things, or is his nose a bit blue during both the SP and FS performances?
