It wasn't his worst season, result wise, it was his best season ever. It's often forgotten, but in the prior seasons, Shoma wasn't clean all the time or got on the podium at every competition he entered. So success wise 2017/2018 Shoma had the best results in his entire senior career. He also got two new personal bests at the beginning of the season.
 
I love that photo of him with Alina in Post #8263 where he has his arm around her but doesn't touch her. It's so cute! :dbana:

I think Shoma is more frustrated that he didn't do his best and that he didn't manage to bring both of his programs to their full potential (even Lombardia wasn't perfect...) than that he keeps getting silver... and especially he has his performance at Wolrds fresh in his mind where he did the worst of his season, and he cannot except the boot problem as an excuse... :S and then it's the problem that he lost to himself so I understand his frustration. I really hope next year he manages to win to himself and to get better results through the reason and then maybe he'll realize that his best self is able to beat the others ? ^^

I'm completely agree. He does not care about titles, but the quality of his performance and people's expectation are another story... and yes, maybe after he beat himself again he will gain confidence

You are right, I was talking about the hardest season I guess I used the wrong word... and the WC was the most difficult part. I don't know if it was the hardest either. This seasons have a good part as you said and he was happy at the Olys but too many things happened

Hasn't Shoma said he doesn't like attractive colours (for his customs)? So those colours...umm, one purpose of ice show imo hahaha

Btw I always like shoma doing cantilever and his pic with Alina really looks nice :-)
 
I wish Shoma would wear bright colors more often, I'm assuming I'm in the minority here, but I really love those group skate outfits :laugh:

This is probably one of the best things about the ice shows. We get to see Shoma (and the other skaters too) in costumes and colors they would probably never even dream of wearing for competitions. As always, your descriptions of Shoma is without equal; this is Shoma I always think!

And strange that you close with the very verses that have always echoed within me as I watched Shoma’s “This Town” for over a year now. I sometimes gasped at the thought, how true those words were… when I found myself crying with this skate, even the first time I saw it.

Your attention to detail is so amazing! Thank you for sharing this with us. I read through it once and am definitely going to read it again. I especially appreciate you doing it in English too. Sometimes David Wilson's choreography can be hit or miss, but "This Town" is definitely "hit". If I'm not mistaken, the first time Shoma skated it was as his 4CC 2017 EX. I was stunned at the beauty of it and how "into" it he seemed. :thank: :points:

First time i seen a picture of him so close to a female that's not his coach.

(Btw I didn't know it was choreographed by David Wilson, did Shoma go to Canada to learn it? I probably missed it)

Awwww Alina is such a sweet girl! And this is the first time I see a girl having physical contact with Shoma and his face is just everything!

Unfortunately, every athlete or public figure has their own set of haters, regardless of how inoffensive they are as an individual.
