Hi guys, just a friendly reminder that here in the fanfest we have to avoid mentioning other skater. Some people already lurked here and uses some of the post about the GP assignment on twitter to hate on Shoma.

When will I get struck by lightning and get tarred and feathered? You know, we found a solution to this, and while I don't discuss other skaters here anymore, I don't think anyone (new member or old member) here in the Fanfest or elsewhere on GS should censor themselves because they are afraid of a vocal, but small minority whose hobby it is to ridicule posts on SNS. So mention him all you want. Because I guarantee you that Yuzuru is a much sweeter and kinder person than his 'fans' who project their own feelings of hate on Shoma and Shoma's fans.

You can mention other skaters if you like, but it is a rule of GS FF and not about censoring ourselves. In the end of the day the admin will probably delete them anyway.:thumbsup:

I know the guidelines. And mentioning Yuzuru or Nathan or whoever and speculating where they go for their Grand Prix and then adding your own opinion on who should go where and why is not bashing, or comparing or something else that is forbidden. If some new fan has to ask themselves, 'Oh what can I write here? Am I even allowed to participate at all? Am I perhaps stepping on someone's toes?' it's just too much and kills any discussion from the start, keeping people away. Who wants that?

Shoma and other skaters all interact with each other, so I think it is inevitable that we talk about other skaters in this FF, especially in relation to Shoma. As long as the posts are not disrespectful (and I mean objectively disrespectful, not "disrespectful" according to some who are too easily offended) or insulting of any skater (Shoma included), it's not forbidden. Don't let those who strive to ridicule and be offended by reasonable posts stop you from expressing your opinions. It's a free world, last time I checked.

Moreover, it's what THEY'RE doing that's forbidden. It's like they steal a few pieces of jewelry (your posts) from one country (GS), then fly with it undetected to another country (Twitter), and sell the jewels there under a different name so they can't be traced. Thieves. (Yes, I deliberately said the posts here in the FF are like jewelry. Take that as you will.) The crime was committed by the thieves, not the people from whom they stole. Will the thieves out there stop you from buying jewelry/posting your opinions? Heck, no! I'm rich enough to keep getting more, and intelligent and outspoken enough to keep saying my own opinions. If someone wants to ridicule my opinion, well, thank you for making my opinion worthy of your time. You just made me more relevant by quoting me.

I have been posting here actively for over 2 years and have mentioned other skaters frequently -- never in a derogatory or comparative way. I intend to continue doing so. It's part of the natural flow of the discussion. The usual people are in here every day as they have always been. Could care less.

The skaters get along pretty well and there wouldn't be any fun or competition if they skated alone so why some fans don't learn from their favorites? I'm a Shoma fan but that doesn't mean I dislike other skaters. So here as in real life: peace! eace:

Of course what I meant is mentioning other skaters in a comparative or complaining kind of way. If we want to praise or just mention then by all means but those skaters also have their own FF space.

And of course you are free to post your opinion here and we lose no sleeps if ridiculous people take it into a wrong context somewhere else. It’s fine when it’s all contained here but when it gets out to a more public social media it is easier for Shoma or his friends and family to find those post and this could directly hurt him. That’s all I’m concerned about, not because we have to worry or feel bullied etc.

Anyway, I’d rather remind everyone rather than report post as I don’t like doing that and when I saw a couple of risque post here and found it on twitter the same day that’s what I did. Hope that makes sense

Only piece that came to my mind is You raise me up. Sounds like a bagpipe version of it. It would make sense because You raise me up is also originally a song by Secret Garden.

Any comments about the medal ceremony?

“I was surprised to discover that there would be a medal ceremony after the victory ceremony (on-ice) The ceremony venue was a bit far, and honestly all I can comment is that it was very far and cold.”

Well all I can say about this is Shoma is all of us!!! The men's event ended at 2 or so and it took nearly the whole time aside from speaking to the press for us to leave the venue to catch transportation to the medal ceremony which was around 7, and it started late because of traffic!!

On the way to the ceremony on the train there were obviously a bunch of fans there from the men's event. We Shoma and Yuzu fans were getting along being very congratulatory, classy, and just celebrating their amazing achievements. And I guess taking into account the current unnecessary drama, my experience is pretty timely #CantWeAllJustGetAlong. It was definitely a happy day. I was so happy that I didn't care how far I had to travel or how cold it was or how much of a hassle it was to make sure we could get there and then get back to Seoul immediately afterward. We barely had time to eat the whole day, maybe a snack .

In the Oly seasons we see lots of music that are pretty much predictable, it's okay with me, too of course. But this past Olys we did see lots of recycled/repeated programs by top skaters. For me what stood out with Sho's programs in his junior days is he picked up very unique music with change of tempo which of course makes skaters a little uncomfortable/uncontrollable such as Tzigane.
