I can only imagine all the mail Yuzu must get. Yes, Shoma is definitely photogenic, even tho I don't think he likes having his picture taken. Totally agree that his Sonata piece is very beautiful. And he is finally holding his ending poses a little bit longer...About Helsinki,, there is a thread here on G.S. where people talk about buying tickets through a web site. I bought a package through Dash Tours that includes the tickets and hotel. I think my seats are pretty good - section 117, row 15. Only ten months and eleven days until I leave! :hap57:

yesterday, monthly tv program for figure skate was aired.
im serching for the video of shoma part now.

he got interview with mura at the show at the begging of the month.
mura is good at 3a, and they talked about 4a. shoma says he dislikes lutz, so if he trys another quad than current 4t, 4s, 4lo,4f, it will be 4a not 4lz.

further, about off season's plan, mura is going to us for coreo. his new programs are flamenco (sp) rachmaninov 2 ( fp)! then, the question is towards shoma and he says he must get his wisdom teeth pulled and he is really unwilling about it.

Is this what you're looking for?

Thank you for this info. Wonder who Mura's choreographer is. I think they like to keep us guessing! Oh dear, Shoma should do this :bang: :bang: :bang: before he gets his wisdom teeth pulled!

Mura's SP choreographer is Massimo Scali and FS is by Charlie White. Mura is quite open compared to others about his programs. We just don't know which flamenco music he'll be using and how ugly his shirts will be!

Oh, excellent choreographers! Hopefully he burned last year's Skate America costume.:eekn: He can borrow one of Shoma's deep Vs (except not the red one!)

Congrats Shoma!

-----------------------------------
His interview after SP (http://blog.livedoor.jp/hana0201402015-sub/archives/5713534.html#more, the 3rd video from the top)

(About 4 flip) I’m just feeling so good. I was able to do well with not just 4 flip, but 4t 3t and 3A and it was the best SP this season, I think.
Next year’s layout, provably I’ll put 4flip to SP at all competitions, so I want to work hard.
(About last Nessun Dorma this season) This program has helped me so much and have a lot of thought with it. I've had tears and smile so far. tomorrow I’ll try to get a nice performance so that I can finish with smile.
(About 4 flip in tomorrow’s FP) I want to avoid it (laugh) but I'm sure i'll challenge.

---------------------------------------------
Final Nessun Dorma, Go shoma! Put all of you thoughts on the rink! :hap10:Just hope your smile, not tears!

Ohhhh, stop you're killin me. :dance2: :thank: Great photos!

Shoma is photogenic. Year, he is not good at being taken, so his face or smile before camera gets a bit rigid, although he’s still nice. But on ice, he gets totally free and a camera captures each piece. He looks more stunning and handsome. There are tons of figure skating magazines sold here, and I always feel like sharing his photos in those magazines.

Thanks for the information about next World! Lucky you to take such a nice sheet! Next Worlds is crucial. US Men must recover 3 spots by 2 skaters. I’m sure they can (Hope Joshua will come back. Jason seemed all right at Worlds.):).

Oh, excellent choreographers! Hopefully he burned last year's Skate America costume.:eekn: He can borrow one of Shoma's deep Vs (except not the red one!)

Thanks! Like the commentator says the girls seem so relaxed than the boys (especially, Marin is funny. She seems to be hamming and doesn’t seem to get nervous at all before camera.)

His next show is FaOI in Sapporo(http://www.fantasy-on-ice.com/skaters.html) on June 3-5. I imagine he will bring at least one new program (Provarbly he will do 2 programs per show.) A show is a good chance to try something new.

Fantasy on Ice has so many wonderful skaters! I would love to see it! Seems that last year Shoma did his new short program for the upcoming season. Hope he does the same this year.

Luckily I could go to see FaOI for the past two years. The skaters and the programs were just fantastic! ( Yes, I could see Shoma doing his new SP!)
I remember mikaboo said Shoma’d watched Stephane and Johnny (Last year, he made a new program for Japanese fans. The Carmen was gorgous with his unique dress type outfit. Hopefully he will do so this year also.), although he had never seen performances other than Daisuke’s before. Show can provide him with the place to interact with other/retired skaters directly!
It’s a pity the broadcast schedule of FaOI Sapporo where Shoma appears doesn’t seem to be determined, but at least we can get information, news clip/images about his new program.

Oh you were so lucky to go to those shows! I am always curious if anyone from Shoma's family attends his performances. We never hear too much about any of the skaters' families...Looking forward to details on his new programs. I like his new exhibition.

Shoma's father and brother has appeared on TV with him in the past but I've never seen his mother. I think she goes/or used to go to local competitions because some fans know what she looks like.
This must be his little brother.
1 2 3

I think the PIW shows are good for him too because he's forced to interact with fans. It seems like he's getting more comfortable with it too.

I think I've seen these pictures of his brother (Itsuki?), and I remember the really OLD video where they went to his house and met his father. Also there was someone at his graduation with a huge camera, and I thought it was his father - but he was only in the video for a split second, so I couldn't tell. You could see his agent was there, so maybe that was a professional photographer...Oh well, just curious and hopeful that his family is supportive and proud of all his efforts and accomplishments.

I have a hard time believing he is SO shy, but then again, I have family members who are the exact same! He is already so much better with his interviews, so he is improving. He seems like a very young 18.

Yes that's his brother Itsuki in the pictures. Shoma's mom has a social media account where she posts personal pictures. She travels with him at competitions.

Oh I'm so glad to hear that. Was just curious and also wondering what she looks like.

Since it's a personal account I won't post it here but she was at Skate America and took a picture of Shoma and Satoko after the gala. Shoma was wearing his white shirt and Satoko was wearing her white "Wings To Fly" dress. Shoma's mom captioned the pic with "they look like bride and groom"

:luv17: Maybe she is hoping! That's funny - I was at that Skate America and probably saw her and don't even know I saw her! Maybe next time! Thx for the info.

Regardless of who is skating, I will buy the Skate America tickets on June 3 and then find out who will be skating on June 29 or 30. The stadium where it is being held is only about 20 minutes from my house. We had many good skaters at Skate America last year including Jason, Max, Han Yan, Gracie, Evgenia, Satoko, Shoma , and Takahito ( in THAT costume). I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. I hope it is well attended.

Wow! You can get immersed into figure skating this year! Further, skaters may walk around there. JP TV will air the town and i'm looking forward to seeing it!
Mura's costume must have had much impact for you!

Yeah, when the assignment was announced last year, we thought, "Wow, how hard for shoma!". But he did it well thanks to the warm audience. Seeing live reports favorable to Shoma made me delighted and relieved!:) The debue was important.
BTW, which point did shoma impress you at SA last year when you first saw him? In my case at JP Nationals 2014, he was Junior, but he was sooo fast and his performance felt like thrilling and chilling. I cant forget that excitement. Further, he didnt look tiny on ice!

I had so many first impressions of Shoma at Skate America, but my very first was "Who is this little Japanese firecracker?" I thought he looked like he was about 12 years old! But he stepped on the ice and skated BIG! His speed and charisma were very impressive. Yes, I did think the leprechaun costume was just a little strange - but still, it was much better than some of the others where the guys look like they just reached in their closet and grabbed an old t-shirt and said "I think I'll skate in this today!" I remember thinking on his triple axel, he looked like he was shot out of a cannon! It wasn't so much the height, but rather the distance he covered on the ice. And of course when he ended with the cantilever, the audience really started cheering and many people were on their feet before he even finished. He really won the audience over. I think that if he hadn't fallen on his quad in the short program, he would have taken the gold. He was so cute when he took his bows. He had such a big smile, and he waved at the audience which struck me as very cute, since most of the other skaters didn't wave. Later when I was able to watch him on TV, the commentators were very complimentary of him and saying that he was causing quite a "stir" during practices before the competition. Kurt Browning from Canada was pretty much the same and called him a little "pocket rocket" which I thought was really funny...So what really happened was that I went to Skate America to cheer on Jason Brown, and I left a Shoma (and Jason!) fan! Loved the pairs that were there too and was so happy I got to see Sui and Han, whom I really love!...All in all, a great Skate America. I can only hope that this year's is as good. 2014 was great too. Machida was fabulous!
