Does anyone have the link to just his music? Not the cut version, but the pieces used(instrumental and vocals) separately. Thanks!

I thought it was interesting in the B.Esp commentary at the end that they were saying that 'he doesn't jump at the jumps, he jumps through them'. I think that is why I enjoy watching him so much- his jumps are part of the flow of the dance, not separate parts. Say the combo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om8qR9AY67Y#t=1m28s The surge of the music is his movement.

They were also saying that a sign of his good skating is his ability to land the jumps that weren't there, 'the bad jumps'. It was true that he saved three jumps that I think some others would have fallen on!

I don't like to compare Shoma to other past great skaters like Dai too much even though he idolises Dai and I can see some similarities- the use of his whole body and head in the movement being one- as it is unfair to him, but I find it interesting that the sheer joy and awe that Dai used to engender in the B.Esp team is what I'm starting to hear in their commentary for Shoma. I found that really endearing and I'm so proud of Shoma and his effect on his audience.

Yeah I think you are pointing out why people who were fans of Dai (like the Besp commentators, bless them) are naturally drawn to Shoma's skating. Both do have similarities in their skating but I think the main one is that they share a similar vision of skating and that they envision programs as a whole and not as elements that constitute a choreography. The jumps are completely incorporated in the program to reflect the music and enhance the interpretation, they are not technical elements but a continuation of the dance.

So glad Shoma got silver at SA. I was at the practice where it seemed that Menshov was doing his best to intimidate him. Haha, instant karma for Menshov!

also, rink exploded when Shoma did his cantilever!

he tried to intimidate him? how so?

When it was Shoma's music (other skaters are supposed to get out of the way) and he was setting up a jumping pass, Menshov deliberately got in his way, wrecking his entrance. And it happened more than once! I say Menshov got what he deserved - 5th place when he was basically tied for 1st (all top 23 had 86+).

So good for Shoma for showing him who is the new boss!!!

Oh :( that's disapointing to hear about Menshov. I always only heard nice things about him and when I met him he was really cool. I wouldn't have thought he would pull out those kind of moves, especially against a sweetheart like Shoma.

Oh, dear. I hope it was just a mistake and not deliberate. :-(

Still, well done to Shoma for taking control of his own destiny with that FS. He really went out and attacked it.

He is in so many ways a descendent of Daisuke. That same sense of command and stretch and arrogance-that-draws-you-in and is not offensive.

I was there for the OP run through for his FS too, and remember it being a frustrating one for him because whenever he was getting ready to do something, another guy would be in the path. It was the only time I've saw him looking a little annoyed and frustrated. However, I did not think it was only one person or that it was intentional.

I saw his similarity with Dai a lot more before, but now more and more I am seeing Shoma developing his own style.

Leaving Milwaukee I was a few people behind Shoma in the security line at the airport! Yes, I get to see him without his shoes going through the body scan and being adorable and all, but no, I am not a stalker.
