Yes! Yes! :yes2:  LOTS of good stuff here! Looks like Stephane gave good advice on sharpening up the movements. The violin screech with the jumps was awesome, as was the cantilever with the arms. Liked the spins at the end, although he omitted his usual A spin. Steps are looking much improved. Can see that he's working on improving his tango face, and he is not relying on the gaping mouth :drama: (ick!) to convey emotion. Really hope he keeps the red shirt and black pants look. That red shirt looks great with his beautiful hair. Can this music really be growing on me already?!:eekn::agree2:

I want to see this on a big rink. His speed is one of the things that makes his programs and his jumps awesome. There is no chance to get up the needed "full head of steam" on these show rinks...Think he should eliminate the move where it looks like he's trying to pull a bug out of his hair...Flying snow is never a good thing on jumps, and I saw a pretty good amount of snow. He has said he is doing at least one clean run through of each program a day in practice, so hopefully he's on the right track. This has already come a long way since he first performed it in Sapporo on June 3..

Anyone going to one of the Nagoya shows?

The programme has come a long way already. Much more panache and attitude. Still has a way to go, but he seems to feel his way at the start of a season. I really love that jumping pass in the silence. And the use of arms in the cantilever! Much more choreo to this. I am looking forward to how it moves on. Might be my imagination, but the jumps he did land felt steadier. Hope he can solidify the rest.

Agreed. These summer shows really benefit someone young like Shoma who is learning to project different styles. He's already brought more attitude and sharpness to his movements with this performance and with more mileage he's going to own this program when he needs to really bring it. Working with a seasoned performer, (and fantastic musical interpreter), like Stephane is a really good move. I was iffy on the program at first, albeit recognizing it needed time to develop, but now I think I am already sold.

I am so impressed with the work Stephane did with him. And you can really see in the training video clips that Shoma seems to really enjoy working with Stephane. I remember when he first started out with his SP last year, he had a hard time getting the feel for it. He really grew into it though and learned how to "sell" it. I hope the same thing will happen with the tango. It's going to be an interesting season!

Shoma’s interview that I was too lazy to translate has been translated on his fan blog as I hoped it would be

Can't believe I missed the part where it said KEEP READING when I originally went to that page! That was a great, long interview. Glad they saved you some translating time! Looking forward to seeing some posts on Twitter from Mirai and Tarah Kayne/Danny O'Shea. The Americans who are there for The Ice are having a great time! I loved their photos from their sightseeing in Kyoto. Jason Brown posted that he has already arrived in Nagoya.

Shoma's FS from The ICE Osaka.

On YouTube now.

Thanks for posting! :thank:

I can see Lambiel-esque movements here, such as head rolling and arm movements. :luv17: I've never imagined Shoma at 18yo can be that sexy on ice, tbh. Now he's transforming to a great performer! But second 4F in the second half? Just hoping no injury...

Looking to forward to seeing how he will 'age' this program as the season deepens. :)

ETA As for collaboration with Dai. Shoma triyng so hard and channeling Dai makes me smile.

Poor Shoma sounded defeated by Dai in the interview afterwards :p

According to the official twitter, Shoma seems to get practice of SP also.
we are wondering if he will show his SP at Nagoya before Mao!

He did skate to his SP :hap10:
And Jason did Dai’s part afterwards with the collaboration dance.
I hope there’ll be a sneak peek from the local Nagoya TV.

Reports from today’s show in Nagoya:
Shoma and Kanako were the dance instructors. Kanako was the only one doing the talking so she kept on telling him to say something and that there’s no point in him having a microphone. But he did whisper “Open, make a heart, open, make a heart.”

Shoma got Lombardia Trophy as his Challenger Series with Wakaba and Kanako.

ETA: His SP costume was a lavender color (deep V?) with sparkles and the same black pants he's been wearing for the FS.

Thanks mikaboo!

How exciting! We can see his SP at THE ICE against the initial plan!
Please air his SP at local TV!
At least we can see his new SP shirt! :hap93:

I thought it seemed very strange that he would wait until Friends to debut the SP. Better to do it now and get some experience in front of audiences. Hooray! A little surprised at the lavender color for the shirt, because I was thinking it was too girly. Noticed though at THE ICE that he looks good in pastel / light colors. Oh heck -- he looks good in any color! :yes2:

I don't understand the comment about "defeated by Dai". Poor Shoma. To be so painfully shy and yet have to do all this stuff where he has to talk. He has to hate it! Hopefully he'll improve with time.

Really anxious to see the lavender shirt. Hmmm. Still the suspense of whether it is a deep V! Look forward to seeing Jason skate with Shoma! They make a good pair! :hap85:

I remember something about him addressing Dai as "Takahashi-senshu" a few times until Dai interrupted him and told him "I'm not senshu anymore" i.e. he's retired now. They call retired skaters "-san", not "-senshu".

Friends on Ice has started in 2006 by Shizuka Arakawa, right after she won Torino OGM, with help by her agency Universal Soprts Marketinghttp://usmjapan.com/, which is also Daisuke's agnecy, and now Shoma's. Dai used to debut his new programs (mostly SP) at FOI every summer, and for reasons; e.g. ticket selling and media attention. Shoma seems to do the same, maybe? That's my guess.

That does make sense, although in Post #1731 above, Mikaboo says that Shoma did debut his SP. Other people are commenting that they hope they see news clips of it on TV. The reasoning behind using Friends sounds like a good marketing technique. Maybe Shoma had reasons for changing his original plan. Perhaps he realized he's "tortured" his fans long enough , and we NEED to see it now, along with the new costume! Hopefully Mura or Rohene Ward didn't help him with the costume!:noshake:

Haven't seen or heard much about the new SP. Was trying to find something--anything!:scratch2::sad4:

Most of the reports I've seen have been about what jumps he attempted on that day although I did read someone say that his SP has been improving while his dance instructor skills have stagnated. I hope they give the job to someone else this week and release him from this torture.
And to noone's surprise, the shirt seems to be a V-neck. I’ve seen it described as “using the same pattern” (as his other shirts). Apparently it looks like his white Don Juan shirt, only it’s lavender color. There’ll be a broadcast of the show on a local TV in Nagoya this Sunday so someone will surely upload videos. I hope they include his SP.

Glimpses of Shoma on Mura’s fan FB page if you scroll down a bit.

I did another search on his SP and I got the impression that responses from fans are divided. It might be because he hasn't had enough time with it yet though.

Thx for your search. I found a few photos but not much else, and of course if it's in Japanese I have no clue. :palmf:
I think with everything else going on (Mao's new EX and SP), Jason's craziness, and the Olympics, Shoma's SP probably isn't high on the priority list. Wonder how ready he was, since the original plan was to skate it at Friends...Right now my main concern is that the Americans in THE ICE remember to come home. I think they are having so much fun they might not want to leave!

Yes!

US boys truly seem to enjoy the shows and stay in Japan. Glad to see them! About Jason, he comes here with his family, and we hope his family trip to Japan for summer shows will become his annual event as long as he's healthy!
