Glacier posted a nice photo of Shoma on their Instagram after he won SA. I have a feeling he will be back there in the near future! https://www.instagram.com/p/BL92YEzjlYx/

The other day, i watched his EX at SA. As for his EX, i prefer another by Stephane, but i realized how the cheer for him is huge and was moved so much. (BTW, how many men are there in American competition? ive heard men's voice for cheer. in japan, the audience of figureskating cometition is almost all woman.)

Maybe Shoma is working on his bowling?! :scard7: (No, not really!)...I was trying to find some news about him on the internet and looked many places and found nothing. Good for him! Hopefully he is training hard without anyone interrupting, and he knows how to disappear! He had better not be in Chicago, although I don't know how he would sneak out of Japan so quietly! Maybe I need to do some investigating. Surprised he doesn't have any CM. Even the Brit TV commentators were talking about how "marketable" he is. I notice he always has on New Balance gym shoes (I think) and he always wears that necklace which looks like Phiten (but isn't). He has been fortunate to win a lot of prize money this year too. And I wonder how much they get for doing the ice shows. He had 30+ shows, so he must get something from that...Seems like even those from wealthier families can use the support. It's such an expensive sport.

I didn’t notice his New Balance shoes. :laugh:Ive heard he just wears what his parents choose and his clothes are by his mom’s choice. Im also interested in his necklace, but didn’t know it isn’t Phiten. I saw them Phitens. His appearance itself and the ability as an athlete are marketable. But he isn’t talk so much.
About shows, he cant expect the guaranty so much. ive heard it defers depending on the result of big competition. he still doesn’t have big results. Anyway, if he has any CM in the future, what will it be?:drama:

Yes, I prefer the La Vie en Rose Ex too. When he came out in the white shirt instead of the striped shirt, I knew right away he was going to skate to See You Again. He does a nice job with the program, but I still prefer La Vie. He received very warm applause and cheers every time he skated his programs, during practices, after his interview with the translator, when he received his medal, etc. There were many Japanese fans, but he has a lot of Amercan fans too. It was such a shame -- overall, the crowds were very small because there was a big, important Regional competition that weekend (for people trying to qualify for our Jan. Nationals). So none of those kids (along with their families, coaches, etc.) could attend SA. There were a LOT of empty seats.

There are probably more women than men at the competitions, but there are quite a few men. The guy sitting next to me was really "into" the competition, and I could tell by the way he was talking that he was a skater...There was one really annoying "screamer" who could be heard in all the videos! :drama:

Shoma seems to have disappeared! I wonder if he would go all the way to Sapporo to NHK to check out the people who will be his competition! It's going to be a great one. Nathan Chen was at SA, no doubt he was looking at his competition! Just in case Shoma was able to sneak out of Japan, I made a phone call to see if he was practicing nearby, but the answer was no!...Maybe he will appear on the Japanese news soon.

That's probably better, especially if he doesn't care how he looks. Mom probably buys his hair wax too! I remember in another thread, someone said he and Sota should be tv broadcasters after they retire. :laugh2: Then he would really HAVE to talk!

I like the necklace he wears. Seems that Suzy Q said the brand, and I thought it started with a "C".

It's Colan Totte. The one he wore last season was also Colan Totte. I think Itsuki was wearing Phiten, though.

Shoma's interview (Russian)
http://other.sport.ua/news/326044

He talks about 4F, 4Lo (google translation says 4Lz, but I think it's mistaken.), working with Stephane and more. Shoma surely wants to add 4Lo, but he will when he feels confident. He thinks what he needs first is working on quality of jumps.

I read/watched Japanese articles/news clips after Rostelecom cup as many as I can. He didn't find the ones he mentioned 4Lo except for golden skate article. He just said he was going to focus on landing of jumps. He knows what he needs well. So we don't have to worry about 4Lo too much? And this season he really seems to focus on mental control. The article in Number Plus was quite interesting. I really love and admire his way of thinking.

:thank: Thank you for that. I knew it wasn't Phiten.

I think he has a very good understanding of what he needs to work on. And he was REALLY nervous before the FS at Rostelecom. (Who wouldn't be -- I would probably faint). He is still working on stamina too. Love the way he checks his competitor's score. That would have been Kolyada who skated before him. I loved at SA that Jason had to wait after Shoma's skate, and both Jason and Rohene were clapping for Shoma.

The designer of those costumes is awesome. The Swarovski crystals on Shoma's twinkle while he is on the ice. It's really beautiful! ETA - I would love to know how many duplicates do the skaters make of their costumes!

Excellent -- at least we know he's alive, and he's in Japan! :) Let us know if he said anything terribly exciting. Looks like a typical media day. Two weeks to practice Shoma!
Yes, the other day, he allowed his practice to be opened to media. he is concentrating on heightening the quality of his current techniques (jumps), not to master new technique. Im so glad. He gets on his feet and sticks to what he what he can do now.
Further, the accident of his off day! He understood that he should do something refreshing other than skating, but he had nothing to do, and finally went to the rink even though he must have taken a rest!

BTW, I don’t know the name of the brand of hia neckless beginning “C”. What is it? love his current hair!

Agree! Not just the ornaments, but the pattern of it is well done and fits for his body.

You are right:drama:. He is in Nagoya. Nathan is taken up by the Japanese media so much this time as well as Jason. He must be watching the competition live.

That makes sense that the focus is not on him right now. It was good to see him practicing. With Yuzu back home and all the excitement of the competition, there is a lot more important stuff going on this weekend. I subscribed to Icenetwork so will be staying up all night (again). :palmf: I'm sure Jason and Nathan are getting lots of attention - Jason because he's Jason and Nathan because of the media's love of quads. Good luck to everyone!

Hopefully Shoma is not thinking anymore about the 4 Loop. I remember when Mura was asking him if he wanted to work on the 4A with him. :noshake: Thank goodness he said no!...We need to have Uncle Dai talk to him about his rest day again! :)

The necklace brand is Colan Totte per 0smile0. It is really nice!

Happy Thanksgiving to any Americans who are here! Giving thanks for my many blessings, and today I'm officially giving thanks for Golden Skate for being a place where we can communicate about the skaters we enjoy and love!

I didn't realize the 23rd was your holiday. Hope it was a wonderful day...Just a few more hours until this amazing competition. I'm SO excited to know who will be in the Grand Prix Final!

Oh, thanks! it's Kenji's room (of this Septemeber)? i havent watched it. does anyone have the video?

I'm pretty sure it said Sept. 2016 in the off-season. Not sure about the video. I'll have to check.

I might be wrong, but I think this interview was exclusively published in Figure "Skating Life Vol. 7" and not part of a Kenji's Room episode.

This is such a typical Kenji interview though, I just love his dry sense of humour! Some of these questions and answers still have me in stitches. Especially Shoma's detestation of vegetables (even comparing them to medicine) is so hilarious! :laugh2:

You're right! I meant to write where it came from and was hurrying and forgot. I do LOVE Kenji's interactions with Shoma. It seems like you never know what to expect when they get together. And Kenji has a funny way of teasing Shoma.

Maybe Shoma needs a copy of my photo of this giant chalkboard. https://pic.twitter.com/jNLEbPOmJZ
