You're right! I meant to write where it came from and was hurrying and forgot. I do LOVE Kenji's interactions with Shoma. It seems like you never know what to expect when they get together. And Kenji has a funny way of teasing Shoma.

Not just with Shoma, he's like that with everyone! He always loves to tease! I don't know, if you're familiar with them, but especially his interviews with Shoma's favourite uncle have been legendary, because these two have such a close relationship. But no matter, who he's interviewing - they're always a lot of fun, because Kenji often comes up with such random questions in the middle of a conversation.

Great interview! Sounds like a comedy routine when these 2 get together! I remember one tv interview where Kenji said something to Shoma about how he looked sexy. Shoma had this horrified look on his face as if to say, "OMG, no! Anything but that!"

Oh no, I don't recall having seen that! Is it on youtube? Was it Kenji's Room? I can totally imagine Shoma's face here as I'm sure he hasn't really reached that stage of having a strong concept of sex-appeal yet, let alone of seeing himself that way. XD He also looked a little uncomfortable when he went to watch Dai-chan in Love on the floor. It wasn't clearly shown in the TV coverage, but that was probably during one of the steamier bits of the performance.

Seems like it might have been Kenji's Room, but I can't remember. I do remember that LOTF scene. He's a pretty young 18, I think. That's ok though, it's actually kind of endearing! :luv17:

Of course it's ok! Sorry, if it didn't come across that way in my last post. He has plenty of time to develop that side in his performance or he might not develop it at all (or at least not very strongly) - that would be fine too. :) I can see him being a different type of skater with his own strong, distinct style.

Where is this? I have to see this!!!

this is my old post. it is one of the news clip of his watching Dai's performance(I dont know though, other newsclip may be there). Even i cant watch Dai's dance derectly.. :o:

It is about mainly SP. It includes some scean ive never seen.
Around 3:40 and 6:40, priceless KC after SP and his photo with children. And interview (He is so happy with the unexpected high score, at the same time, hope is sure there are more room of higher score or performance, so he wants to work harder.)
Further, from around 8:30, about his watching of Dai’s dance performance. Dai says is expression is what rises up from inside yourself and it cant be taught, so you must broaden your mind."

I might be wrong, but I think this interview was exclusively published in Figure "Skating Life Vol. 7" and not part of a Kenji's Room episode.

This is such a typical Kenji interview though, I just love his dry sense of humour! Some of these questions and answers still have me in stitches. Especially Shoma's detestation of vegetables (even comparing them to medicine) is so hilarious! :laugh2:

That's an interesting post with a lot of different topics. I couldn't remember if he was dancing with Cheryl Burke from Dancing With the Stars or Meryl Davis the ice dancer. I think the part they show here was with Meryl. I think I prefer seeing Shoma with all the stuffed animals and gifts!
Seeing the Rostelecom SP reminded me of how VERY nervous he was during his both of his programs in Russia. You can just see how tight his jumps are. It probably didn't help that it sounded like he had a bad cold, but I'm sure he didn't want to use that as an excuse. I think he's going to have a tough time controlling his nerves at the Grand Prix Final. I hope he does well. It should be an amazing competition.

Agree!
This is the moment of shoma which captured our hearts selected by ELLE.

his relieved face. He is only 18..

Yeah, GPS will be a wonderful competition. I wanna go, but I gave up since it takes me one day more from my town to Marseille and I don’t have enough confidence of travelling alone under no guarantee of safety. Instead, im going to an show “KINGS ON ICE” in Romania during that weekend with my GS friend. Luckily I can watch Stephane there. At NHK cup, a coach Stephane was so popular! My friend went to Sapporo and she says he got a lot of attention. It’s funny he feels shy when he works for coach.

Very nice photo of the relieved face of Shoma...Lucky you, going to Kings on Ice. I remember the show is scheduled for Bucharest and Cluj. You will have to tell us about it and cheer extra loudly for Stephane! While you are there, try some sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls), mamaliga (corn meal), and Romanian sausages. :otopic: (Sorry, getting "carried away" thinking about the delicious food!)

 I have a screencap of that "Greek God experimentation" dance on my desktop. I just adore his performance in that show!

I was actually thinking about this newsclip, which shows Shoma biting his lip around the 1 minute mark, but the one you posted is even better, because it also contains other bits!

Thank you so much for this! Interesting stuff. Could you translate that whole backstage part, if it's not too bothersome?

He danced with both of them (and with Kristi Yamaguchi as well).
Shoma with that huge pile of gifts is the cutest!

I was thinking about going to the GPF as well, because of the awesome line-up, but unfortunately can't afford it, because I'm already travelling to Switzerland in February for "Art on Ice". So just like you I will be seeing Stephane (and Daisuke). :luv17: They are so fabulous live! This year at "Ice Legends" I was also so lucky to see Mao, Carolina, Ilia, Brian, Deniss V., Tessa/Scott and Tatiana/Maxim in addition to Stephane and Dai. That was probably one of the best show casts ever! And there were so many japanese fans, who travelled all the way, it's crazy! I'm sure "Kings on Ice" will be spectacular as well! Who else is going to perform there?

One of the Tumblr accounts had the following information posted about LOTF, along with a similar video to what we saw. I think this is most of what was said. It seems to me Dai also mentions that Shoma just got back from the U.S. from his summer training and Shoma says something like the training was awesome. (Love the big bear hug Dai gives him. He practically crushes him!) :luv17:
Shoma attended a showing of “Love on the Floor,” Daisuke Takahashi’s dance stage show. Shoma says he wants to be praised for his artistry over his jumps. That’s why he learns from Daisuke. There’s so much he wants to take in when he watches Daisuke dancing and performing on solid ground. Daisuke asks Shoma what he thought of the show, and Shoma says it was really good. Daisuke laughs and tells Shoma he’s gotten good with the compliments. Daisuke says artistry and performing is something you can learn from a lot of different people. Seeing the show made Shoma want to dance, and overall, he had positive things to take from it.

I thought about going to Marseilles, but it's SO far just for a couple days. I also did not like the idea that originally they were saying the seats were not reserved seats. I don't know if that changed. I figured it would be too crazy if there were no reserved seats, and I didn't want to stand in line overnight to get a good seat! What a great group of competitors though! I'm so jealous that you will get to see such great Ice Shows!...This year, because Skate America and Skate Canada were so close ( one hour flying time between the two) I think many Japanese fans came to Chicago (to see Mao) and then went to Toronto to see Yuzu. Hopefully some of the people who came to Chicago wanted to see Shoma too! I already have my tickets for US Nationals and Worlds, so I can't complain too much!

Thank you! I guess I thought we were referring to something else. I've seen that one before but I watched it again because I like it.

I thought about GPF but the flight price was just out of the question for me. But it does look like I'm going to worlds now! Still can't believe it and am a little unsure of the decision atm, but then I think of all the talent that will be there and I'm really looking forward to a really good competition (especially for my faves, lol).

The airfare makes it a big decision. When I checked Chicago/Helsinki for Worlds it was $1,400. :jaw: I figured Plan B was to try to fly on a free ticket which is what I ended up doing. Now I am asking the skating Gods to please be sure that my favorites are there! I am assuming Shoma will be there. With Japan's 3 spots, I would certainly hope one of them would go to him!

Ah, I recall having read that translation before, but I thought it was incomplete. Thank you for posting this though!
That hug made me melt! (and jealous )

I wouldn't be worried, Shoma is definitely going to grab one of those spots! Especially now that the men's field isn't nearly as deep as it used to be, it won't be a problem at all. (But even in a deeper field, he would've had good chances.) The bigger question is, who will be the 3rd guy? Just a few weeks ago I would have placed my bet on Mura, but now I'm not so sure anymore...

Seems like it would have to be Yuzu, Shoma, and ?? Question for everybody -- Whom do you think will be the mystery 3rd man? Mura? Tanaka? Murakami? How about Oda? Others? :clapper:

Oda doesn't compete anymore! Japan Open was a one-off for him.

who is Oda?

I'm sure she meant Nobunari.

also question : do you guys think Shoma has a bit of a crush on Daisuke?? ;)

You mean in a romantic sense? Doesn't everyone have a crush on him? Ah, no, I don't know...no. lol
I mean it's no secret, that he idolizes him, but I'm sure there are no romantic feelings involved. :noshake:

ok thanks! Yeah Nobu is retired and Daisuke Murakami is badly injured and won't take part in Nationals :(
I think Mura should have this easily but again, he is not what I would call a reliable competitor.

For the crush yeah I meant romantic. I have always wondered because growing up idolizing and loving someone so much as Shoma as done with Daisuke, i think the lines between idolization and crush are extremely blurry (at least in my personal experience) and it is difficult to differentiate, especially if you don't know them, building this kind of fantasy person.
I guess now that they know each other better and seem to interact more, I think their relationship is something more tangible like a mentor-student thing but initially yeah, I have always thought of Shoma having a bit of a crush on Daisha (especially as you say since any sane person actually has a crush on Daisha)
