Oda doesn't compete anymore! Japan Open was a one-off for him.

I'm sure she meant Nobunari.

I mean it's no secret, that he idolizes him, but I'm sure there are no romantic feelings involved. :noshake:

Yes, I'm just dreaming with Nobunari Oda. His Japan Open skate was just so WOW! I was so excited to meet him at Skate America and to tell him how much I loved his Open performance. I think he will stick to his tv work!...I think it will be Mura for the 3rd spot. And like I've always said, I would LOVE to be a spider on the wall and hear how the federations make some of their decisions!

I think Shoma just idolizes Dai and admires his versatility. I think he respects his advice. Seeing the two of them together is 100+ on the cuteness scale.

You met Nobu? How was he? Was he as bubbly as he comes across in his reporting?

Well if Shoma has a crush on Dai, I wouldn't blame him, lol. But I think it's merely admiration as well and I do want to see them work together more. Just not trying to be sexy. That was hilariously bad. Dai has it in spades. Shoma in all his "baby-Dai" tendencies, does not have it yet, lol.

Very nice photo of the relieved face of Shoma...Lucky you, going to Kings on Ice. I remember the show is scheduled for Bucharest and Cluj. You will have to tell us about it and cheer extra loudly for Stephane! While you are there, try some sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls), mamaliga (corn meal), and Romanian sausages. :otopic: (Sorry, getting "carried away" thinking about the delicious food!)

Thanks! i write them down!
about other post of you, have you got your Wolrd ticket already? im going to, but havent yet get prepared. i must consider the rate between yen. US$1,400 is flight fee?

 I have a screencap of that "Greek God experimentation" dance on my desktop. I just adore his performance in that show!

I was actually thinking about this newsclip, which shows Shoma biting his lip around the 1 minute mark, but the one you posted is even better, because it also contains other bits!

Thank you so much for this! Interesting stuff. Could you translate that whole backstage part, if it's not too bothersome?

He danced with both of them (and with Kristi Yamaguchi as well).
Shoma with that huge pile of gifts is the cutest!

I was thinking about going to the GPF as well, because of the awesome line-up, but unfortunately can't afford it, because I'm already travelling to Switzerland in February for "Art on Ice". So just like you I will be seeing Stephane (and Daisuke). :luv17: They are so fabulous live! This year at "Ice Legends" I was also so lucky to see Mao, Carolina, Ilia, Brian, Deniss V., Tessa/Scott and Tatiana/Maxim in addition to Stephane and Dai. That was probably one of the best show casts ever! And there were so many japanese fans, who travelled all the way, it's crazy! I'm sure "Kings on Ice" will be spectacular as well! Who else is going to perform there?

Not at all. i also their talk here is interesting. Please await for a while. together with yuzu's thread, i have a lot of informaion in Japanese to share with the members here already and im a late writer.:drama:

I looked up the word, crush in a dictionary! I don’t know the nuance, but I think shoma has nothing for Dai other than respect and admiration.

And back to the topic of the Kenji’s word “sexy”, it is the one in Kenji’s room? Now I confirmed the text of Kenji’s room. Kenji says “変に色気のある動き“. Im not English speakers, so the detailed nuance of the word sexy. But in Japanese word, “色気”, it has more diverse nuance other than something sexual. I cant put my fingers on though… I think to even Marin (Honda) this word would be used. Actually, dai said Marin has “艶”which is similar nuance to “色気”. Actually, “色気” is difficult word to be translated into English. Of course, most of the translation is “sexy”. But I always something different to “sexy” about the translation of “色気” . Actually, last summer, I translated yuzu’s talk about manly “色気”. I had to use the word sexy and sexuality, but it was a bit different.

Nobu was awesome, and his English was SO good. Here is my post from his thread so I don't have to hijack Shoma-kun's thread again. https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?41909-Nobunari-Oda&p=1513709&viewfull=1#post1513709

Poor Shoma having to try to do the sex pot thing in the ice shows. He was so cute, especially with that "I can't believe I'm doing this" look on his face. It was really very endearing and really makes me laugh just thinking about it. But can you imagine Scott Hamilton, Paul Wylie, Grant Hochstein (just to name a few) skating like that. It certainly is not everyone's style. But Shoma did better with Jason Brown in the Saturday Night Fever dance -- although he still couldn't get rid of the beautiful fluidity he has to his movements (which doesn't work quite right with the disco movements). :scratch2: I give him credit though. He certainly tries!

who is Oda?

also question : do you guys think Shoma has a bit of a crush on Daisuke?? ;)

Like the Yuri-Victor bromance? :luv17: I remember in a show with Yuzuru and Nobu, Shoma said he won't get married in the future so maybe it's because same sex marriage isn't allowed in Japan~ lol maybe I'm being delusional
also I am just guessing but Taka Daisuke has started pinging my radar lately, he attended lgbt pride in NY and instagrammed it proudly, the way he looks at his male co-skaters is very fishy, and the way skates is... very aesthetic and sensual :biggrin:idk

So cute! Dai and Tatuski roomed together in Sochi. I remember Dai saying in an interview that they both consoled their disappointment at their 5th and 6th placement in the
LP by eating lots of MacDonald's French Fries.
lol french fries are life but I think it should be a taboo in athlete's diet especially a figure skater, I guess it shows how emotionally crushed they were.

Thanks, Arriba! I need to look up this Jason and Shoma thing. I just can't see him doing disco, lol.

That's not always an indication though. I would go to a parade to support my friends/family and I've been to some clubs before and I myself am not gay (but the drinks are good, the music is good, the drag shows are fun, and the guys are nice since they aren't trying to hit on you ). When Dai returned to Japan I watched a documentary and they asked him if he found a girlfriend over here. His answer was "no unfortunately" that asians aren't popular. So if he is, he is probably not out about it officially. I know Japan is getting better about that kind of thing but I'm not totally sure how socially acceptable it is yet. As for Shoma, if he is not out and open about it I will respect that wish and not make assumptions. He's still so young at 18, who really wants to think about marriage? Even still I think gay couples there are getting more rights there, so if that's why he says he wouldn't get married maybe he'll consider someday if he meets the right person.

Ah ha! I knew I would find it! This was posted in Jason's thread. I was looking for a You Tube. I just LOVE this! Shoma just does not look like John Travolta. He just doesn't have the hoppin and boppin thing quite right. My two favorites on the ice at the same time! Darn, I miss that beautiful red shirt he first wore for his tango! :sad4: https://twitter.com/yuzuporuko/status/764719009493233664/video/1

I just started watching the Anime and love it...To be honest, I don't think about Shoma's preferences too much. I know that interview you're speaking of where he is sitting there at a table with Yuzu and Nobu. It was pretty old, and I'd guess he was maybe 16 years old? I don't know how many guys are thinking about marriage at that age - to either sex. When I saw him up close, I couldn't believe how young he looks. He looks like a little kid! He has plenty of time to figure all that out. The less distraction from his skating, the better.

French fries? I'm in! What about the chocolate shake?! I think I read somewhere that Jason said after his skating was done at Sochi, he couldn't wait to go to the McDonald's in the Olympic compound and get a shake! :) These poor skaters have to watch their eating so their tiny frames don't get too big! I think I saw something that said Shoma has 10% body fat. Can that be for real?!?!

All of them have to skate at Nationals first and it's very likely that this year all podium finishers will get to go, so no difficult decision making like in 2013 for JSF this time.

Shoma no but Tatsuki Machida definitely yes. At least back in the day.

ETA: Between us, I think it might have been mutual. :sarcasm:

lol I think their personalities would clash badly in a relationship. (Now Kenji and him on the other hand...it's too bad Kenji got married recently ;))

Oh, thank you so much hamaguri! :thank: But please look at the translation Arriba627 posted in post #2276 before you do. It might very well already be most of what they said, so you don't have to do all the work. :) (And please take your time.)

I actually think, that a lot of skaters can't pull off the sexy. And it can't be taught either. Either you have it or you don't. The french skaters seem to take it in with the breast milk. I think Dai is a rather unsusual japanese guy in that respect. Look at Taka K. trying to be sexy.

Shoma still seems so innocent and pure and that's his charm at the moment.

I don't think you're delusional. Dai has hinted at his sexual orientation being different from straight more than once. He often does it kinda subtly, but still noticably enough. (He's possibly bisexual.) I don't think that the bolded part has anything to do with it though. I'm sad for him and for other japanese LGTB people, that Japan is still so conservative about same-sex relationships. And it's one of the reasons why I think Yuri on Ice is doing a pretty brave thing!

In regards to Shoma, I honestly think that his interest in relationships has just not awoken yet. I really wouldn't want to speculate on his orientation at all and I actually think it's inapproriate at this point.

Thanks, Arriba! I need to look up this Jason and Shoma thing. I just can't see him doing disco, lol.

Yeah, the disco thing with Jason was a little awkward as well, but they were so cute together. :luv17: Can't find the video at the moment, so have a gifset instead: http://eggplantgifs.tumblr.com/post/149006058253/shoma-uno-jason-brown-saturday-night-fever

Edit: Arriba has found the video!

Couldn't agree more with the second bolded statement! :agree:

Yes, I have my Worlds ticket already. I bought a package of ticket and hotel. Section 117, Row 15, Seat 1 -- I'm there! The $1,400 was the airfare price, which is absurd. Luckily, I had mileage in my frequent flyer account and am flying on a free ticket.

You need to take a rest! You do a lot for all of us here on the Forum! We really appreciate all your efforts.

I looked up the word, crush in a dictionary! I don’t know the nuance, but I think shoma has nothing for Dai other than respect and admiration.

The word CRUSH reminds me of how difficult English is. Like I said that Dai gave Shoma such a big hug it looked like he would CRUSH him. In that sense it's like hugging him really tightly...But if we say we have a CRUSH on someone, that's completely different. I don't even know how to explain that. Maybe when you have really strong feelings for someone but it isn't really love. I'd better not even try to explain! :drama:

Could Kenji have been saying something like "star quality", or "very strong appeal" -- like someone is extremely pleasing to the eye (for example in the case of Marin?)...Wow - we are really language geeks here aren't we?! :dance2:

In regards to Shoma, I honestly think that his interest in relationships has just not awoken yet. I really wouldn't want to speculate on his orientation at all and I actually think it's inapproriate at this point.

Well I was just making harmless speculation regarding his remark, and I don't it's offensive to anyone, we are all in light hearted conversation about our favorite skaters after all ;)
