lol I think their personalities would clash badly in a relationship. (Now Kenji and him on the other hand...it's too bad Kenji got married recently ;))
Not at all, quite the opposite. They were a great support to each other in Sochi and, well, pics like these speak for themselves.

Have you ever seen Dai looking at someone like that

In all seriousness it's not even speculation; Tatsuki was rooming with Yuzuru at first but moved in Dai's room as soon as he arrived in Sochi and they talked about having "McDonald's picnic in bed" and "dancing together" :sarcasm:

Later when Tatsuki skated his "Je Te Veux" program, they had a press conference at PIW and he was asked if the program was really dedicated to someone and he just gave a sly smile, made eye contact with Dai who was right beside him and said "it's a secret". Once again, these are actual reports from the fans who were there, I'm not making it up. The fans talked about the message of the program and several people agreed on "letting go of the loved one". The ending pose definitely looks like that.

Back to Shoma - I agree with everyone saying he's simply not thinking about love and relationships at this point in his life and Dai has been his idol since he was a child so it really doesn't come off as a crush to me. When I think about that kind of relationship between two persons, it's definitely Tatsuki and Dai.

Gee, all this talk of love made me think of brotherly love. I used to think that Shoma and Itsuki looked a lot alike, but they look pretty different to me now, except for the noses. There are definitely good genes in that family! :cool14:

I can only hope that my Spanish is as good as your English! :scratch2:

Aw, thank you. I still feel like I'm struggeling to express myself properly sometimes though. :drama:

If you don't mind, I would love to take this to the Tatsuki thread, because I think it's an interesting topic, but it doesn't really belong here. :)

I just started watching the Anime and love it...To be honest, I don't think about Shoma's preferences too much. I know that interview you're speaking of where he is sitting there at a table with Yuzu and Nobu. It was pretty old, and I'd guess he was maybe 16 years old? I don't know how many guys are thinking about marriage at that age - to either sex. When I saw him up close, I couldn't believe how young he looks. He looks like a little kid! He has plenty of time to figure all that out. The less distraction from his skating, the better.

French fries? I'm in! What about the chocolate shake?! I think I read somewhere that Jason said after his skating was done at Sochi, he couldn't wait to go to the McDonald's in the Olympic compound and get a shake! :) These poor skaters have to watch their eating so their tiny frames don't get too big! I think I saw something that said Shoma has 10% body fat. Can that be for real?!?!

you may get surprised! this interview is held on June 2015, during FaOI. shoma has grown sharply since he turned senior.

Oh, thank you so much hamaguri! :thank: But please look at the translation Arriba627 posted in post #2276 before you do. It might very well already be most of what they said, so you don't have to do all the work. :) (And please take your time.)
:

You need to take a rest! You do a lot for all of us here on the Forum! We really appreciate all your efforts.

Thank you both for the kind words. Actually, im so happy that I can be a kidn of help to non-Japanese speakers here. My English isn’t perfect, but members here are really warm and kind-heated persons. I always feel gratitude to them.

Further, the jobs are so fun! Actually, I do translations only for sources which interest me! I love to discuss someone’s words. Those who have results in a certain area surely have interesting words.

Yuzu and shoma
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsWqhHaYxnw (4min)
Shoma does 4t practice mainly, since at Roc(please let us know the short word of GS at Russia!) his GOE for 4T was low.
Shoma says he feels confident that he can go to the competition where only 6 skaters are allowed of the world. But he hates to lose to any competitor, so he makes an effort to catch up them.

Nobu was awesome, and his English was SO good. Here is my post from his thread so I don't have to hijack Shoma-kun's thread again. www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?41909-Nobunari-Oda/page14 (Post #204)

Poor Shoma having to try to do the sex pot thing in the ice shows. He was so cute, especially with that "I can't believe I'm doing this" look on his face. It was really very endearing and really makes me laugh just thinking about it. But can you imagine Scott Hamilton, Paul Wylie, Grant Hochstein (just to name a few) skating like that. It certainly is not everyone's style. But Shoma did better with Jason Brown in the Saturday Night Fever dance -- although he still couldn't get rid of the beautiful fluidity he has to his movements (which doesn't work quite right with the disco movements). :scratch2: I give him credit though. He certainly tries!

thanks for sharing your experience with Nobu. this is priceless! Pity you missed your camera at that time!

The word CRUSH reminds me of how difficult English is. Like I said that Dai gave Shoma such a big hug it looked like he would CRUSH him. In that sense it's like hugging him really tightly...But if we say we have a CRUSH on someone, that's completely different. I don't even know how to explain that. Maybe when you have really strong feelings for someone but it isn't really love. I'd better not even try to explain! :drama:

Could Kenji have been saying something like "star quality", or "very strong appeal" -- like someone is extremely pleasing to the eye (for example in the case of Marin?)...Wow - we are really language geeks here aren't we?! :dance2:

Thanks! Now im planning about Worlds!. I may keep trip here!

That’ it! Strong appeal! “appeal” is a good word for “色気”. What Kenji wanted to say is shoma has a strong appeal which feels a kind of adult in spite of his young age. Dai is the same. He says he has somewhat such feelings about with Marin. When Dai said about Marin, I and mikaboo discussed the suitable translation of his words, like “it factor”. Star quality is also nice. I added this vocabulary to my list.

Hi Arriba!
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! We are all indeed in deep sorrow here in Brasil.
I really appreciate your kindness!
Lots of love from Brasil to everyone!

No way! I can't believe that interview w/ Yuzu and Nobu was from June 2015! Shoma looks like a little kid. Check out this photo that was taken after SA. I guess he looks like he's 12 (or maybe 14?) here too. Maybe it's the Bambi eyes that give him that look. https://www.instagram.com/p/BL7IkWkAhiY/?taken-by=shomauno_fans

Here are Jason & Shoma skating to Saturday Night Fever. Pretty funny. https://pic.twitter.com/CZyVQLlQdh ...It's always nice to see the latest news clips! Glad he's working on his jumps. I feel like I know he can do the jumps, but if his nerves get to him all the bad habits will come back -- especially not getting good flow out of the jumps which makes the jump curl around, is bad for his knees, and his free leg is low to the ice. But what do I know?! I would probably faint if I had to get out there on the ice and skate in front of a huge crowd!

Good luck with your Worlds plans. Hoping to meet some GS people while there. It would be fun! :)

Let me see if I can find it. I think it was during The Ice show, maybe the one in Nagoya.

Ah ha! I knew I would find it! This was posted in Jason's thread. I was looking for a You Tube. I just LOVE this! Shoma just does not look like John Travolta. He just doesn't have the hoppin and boppin thing quite right. My two favorites on the ice at the same time! Darn, I miss that beautiful red shirt he first wore for his tango! :sad4: https://twitter.com/yuzuporuko/status/764719009493233664/video/1

Thank you!! This was...special :p We all have our strengths.

I don't think you're delusional. Dai has hinted at his sexual orientation being different from straight more than once. He often does it kinda subtly, but still noticably enough. (He's possibly bisexual.) I don't think that the bolded part has anything to do with it though. I'm sad for him and for other japanese LGTB people, that Japan is still so conservative about same-sex relationships. And it's one of the reasons why I think Yuri on Ice is doing a very brave thing!

In regards to Shoma, I honestly think that his interest in relationships has just not awoken yet.

But are Viktor and Yuri officially a couple though? Because there are many anime where they give a lot of yaoi fanservice making two characters shippable for fans while not actually putting them together officially. I find it annoying, but it's been a trend for as long a I've watched anime, which is like 20 years, lol. I've not watched YoI yet but I've seen some gifs here and there.

As for Shoma. I think you're right on that. It's not uncommon that skaters live in a bubble and miss out on being able to make certain connections. Sasha Cohen recently got married but she actually talked about how little experience she had of the world and life because of skating, and this is despite travelling the world herself for competitions. It just takes sooo much commitment when you're at a certain level.

He seemed to have had an affair with a thai girl though while he was in NYC. (That's one of the reasons, why I would say he's bisexual.) He just didn't wanna talk about it publicly (which is understandable).

Interesting to know! I'll just say nothing about him will surprise me then if something is ever officially declared. I just hope he can be happy in life.

Thanks! Now im planning about Worlds!. I may keep trip here!
It'd be wonderful if you could go to Worlds!

Good luck with your Worlds plans. Hoping to meet some GS people while there. It would be fun! :)

I feel like I'm hearing about more people going to this worlds than I heard were going to Boston. It'd definitely be great meeting several of you guys though!

Predictions time for the Grand Prix Final! :drama: What to do - what to do! It's only for fun, but it's so hard to know what to do with 6 great competitors in the Men's! Out of 36 people giving their predictions, here's what people are saying so far for Shoma: 1st place - 0; 2nd - 6; 3rd - 17; 4th - 9; 5th - 4; 6 - 0

Maybe I'll just roll the dice and give my prediction! I hate to jinx anything by asking the question, but WHERE DO YOU THINK SHOMA WILL FINISH?!

Shoma is 3rd? hmmm… I haven’t seen the prediction site, but from my gut feelings, 3rd.

I have not words…
The news was great shock also to me. My deepest sympathy.
(Further, football is my favorite sport and I’ve seen South American and European football scene from my school days. Through football, I came to know your country. The accident happened to the players this time is truly heartbraking…)

Love his bambi eyes. I don’t know why this adorable face guy captures audience once he get into his performance.

Haha! I know Jason is a born to be dancer, but shoma did well with him!

I think figure skating is so unique sport. Only one before a crowd and camera. He may needs some time to adjust his mental though, he shall keep moving forward little by little. His 18 year self shall never come back. Including nervous shoma, lets enjoy now!
