I was thinking about going to the GPF as well, because of the awesome line-up, but unfortunately can't afford it, because I'm already travelling to Switzerland in February for "Art on Ice". So just like you I will be seeing Stephane (and Daisuke). :luv17: They are so fabulous live! This year at "Ice Legends" I was also so lucky to see Mao, Carolina, Ilia, Brian, Deniss V., Tessa/Scott and Tatiana/Maxim in addition to Stephane and Dai. That was probably one of the best show casts ever! And there were so many japanese fans, who travelled all the way, it's crazy! I'm sure "Kings on Ice" will be spectacular as well! Who else is going to perform there?

Sorry to be late!

Are you going to Art On Ice? Wow! The show is very unique and it never bores me. Ive checked the site. Stephane, Dai, this year, Ashley? Nugumanova will be there.
I repeated the videos of Ice Legends. Exciting you were there! Fantastic! I didn’t know there are some Japanese who goes around the worlds for shows? Dai fans?
About Shoma’s FS this year, Stephane’s work polished this program so much. Arriba says his work deserves the title of co-coreographers. He is a gift of figure skating field.

Kings on Ice has plushy, Brian, etc. further, im looking forward to Edwin Martin, Plushy’s violinist. His violin is one of the most precious Stradivarius made in 17C, which costs about 800 million us dollars! im going with my friend whom I made friends with through GS, but I may meet up other GS members there.

Thank you so much @Lunna! Gorgeous photos, very professional! Love the video of Shoma in K&C!

But are Viktor and Yuri officially a couple though? Because there are many anime where they give a lot of yaoi fanservice making two characters shippable for fans while not actually putting them together officially. I find it annoying, but it's been a trend for as long a I've watched anime, which is like 20 years, lol. I've not watched YoI yet but I've seen some gifs here and there.

Interesting to know! I'll just say nothing about him will surprise me then if something is ever officially declared. I just hope he can be happy in life.

I'm going to reply to this in Dai's thread as I'd feel bad about derailing Shoma's even further.
Sorry about all the OT stuff! :slink:

I think figure skating is so unique sport. Only one before a crowd and camera. He may needs some time to adjust his mental though, he shall keep moving forward little by little. His 18 year self shall never come back. Including nervous shoma, lets enjoy now!
I like that -- "nervous Shoma" :luv17: Maybe because he is not favored to win (or even make the podium in the eyes of many) it will take some of the pressure off of him. I guess we'll find out next week!

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful photos and videos. I like that -- "a couple of pics". That is the first time I have ever seen the view that they see from the Kiss and Cry, so that was really interesting! You have a lot of patience to take all those photos! I will definitely look at them all again!...One of my favorite photos / videos from CoR was where the kids "buried" him with all of his gifts and flowers that were thrown on the ice. So cute!

Guys, I'm scared for GPF. Please tell me everything is going to be okay, Shoma will skate his best and I won't have to read through another thousand comments about his lack of transitions, mediocre jumping technique and two footed skating. *sniff*

Fluffy Higuchi to the rescue! Bring your fluffy coat sensei!

And don't forget the "too many crossovers". I'm already getting a stomach ache and it's a week away! Each experience is so good for him, and I really hope it will go well. I know the predictions mean very little, but many people are predicting the same podium as last year...Yes, please Mihoko sensei -- wear the good luck fluffy coat, por favor! :yahoo: (I think she owns 100 coats / jackets to choose from).

Shoma will be fine at GPF. He has proven what he can do on the ice, Gold at SA and Silver at Rostelecom
As a fan I will be rooting for him to have 2 clean good skates and fingers crossed that he makes the podium.

There will always be criticism not only of Shoma's skating but others as well. I just glaze over those
posts and usually I do not respond. I have learned over the years that this approach is much better for my
blood pressure. I like what I like and feel that I don't have to defend what I like in this sport.

That said I have no problem with other folks posting their opinions even though I may not agree.

GO SHOMA!!!!:cheer:

@MaiKatze :ghug:

eta: I just noticed that I originally put COC. I have corrected it.

You have the best philosophy and I will remember that! :thank: I'm sure I will still have a stomach ache though when he skates. That being said, I hope they all come out and have a great skate and may the man who skates the best that day win!

Tara often remarks on how wonderful his crossovers are.

This and the comments of commentators around the globe actually make me not believe the things people say about Shoma's skating. I must admit, I'm really not an expert. I've never skated and beside watching the sport and being a fan I don't know much. So I'm always unsure when people start to criticize so much about Shoma's skating, and I don't know how to respond other than, I don't feel that way, which isn't really an argument. I just get confused, but then - when I listen to the experts on TV I never hear these points being brought up, no it is the very opposite, they even praise things that are seen as weaknesses on GS. Very strange indeed.

I think shoma will be fine at GPF, if he skates well. He has been skating well so far.... I have enjoyed his programs, particularly the long, all season. When I read that people critique his skating, or parts of it, I just remember the great things experts have said about him, I.e. Kurt Browning, who has praised his skating this year. If Kurt is impressed, it is good enough for me .... he knows a tiny bit more about skating than most.

Your posts reminded me that we were very fortunate to have a lot of translations of broadcasters' comments regarding Shoma's skating, and I went back and looked at a few of them again. I wrote some of the Sk America comments (done in English) on p. 135 - post #2013, MaiKatze posted some German comments on p. 137 - post #2042, Nagini translated Tarasova's comments on p. 143 - post #2138, xibsuarz translated Paloma and Susana's comments from Spanish on p. 144 - Post #2152, Winnie_20 posted Dutch commentary on p. 133, Post #1991...I hope we will be able to have a lot of translations from the GPF too. It's so interesting!
