Hooray! Programs announced almost a month earlier!

^^^:hap85: :dance2: Vivaldi Winter https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=TZCfydWF48c. (9 minutes long, so I'll be anxious to see how they use it for the SP).

Regarding Turandot, "There will be some challenges and joy in skating to it again, and I would like to show everyone the growth I've experienced since the last time I skated it."

omg... i cannot change my avatar now... leprechaun is back.... i loved that program of Shoma's cannot wait to see it again

You HAVE to keep your avatar...Too funny! That was my first thought is what will the new costume be?! :hpull: I can imagine him saying, "Oh no, do I have to wear the green velvet pants again?" They'll definitely need new pants - his fat butt would never fit in the old ones!

How do you feel about Winter? And how do they cut that down to an SP? I know Deniss Vasiljevs used that this year, but I think it was for his FS. Even so, 9 whole minutes.

hehe i was kidding ;) i am sure they will get him a new costume but to me, he will always look like he is in green (fave colour)

regarding vivaldi... easy music to cut... either way... all pretty regular in structure... i just am not sure because the 4 seasons have been so iconic at o games already... but i am sure that in a sp it's less of any issue and his turandot is quite a trademark for him... saying this because i believe it's important at olympics to shine as an iconic, special skater to be competitive.

I must admit I'm a bit disappointed he's not bringing something new for the FP, I was full of hope after the Loco program. But anyway, I love his Turandot.
I'm excited about the SP as Vivaldi's Winter is one of my favorite music pieces. A while ago, I did a dance routine to it and it's a very good memory. I'm sure Shoma can pull something amazing

+1

I adore the Four Season. And Winter just fits, couldn't be happier with the choice for the SP, as I can already imagine Shoma doing this piece justice. Maybe Lambiel will help out, with his experience here?

BUT...Turandot again? Reusing old programs never sits well with me. I think I know, what they are aiming for, skating to Nessum Dorma. For once, it is epic until the last pose, it can become a true Olympic moment, and with the added tech he has since he last skated it that can work well. He is comfortable with it, it is not as screechy as LOCO and he does have time to concentrate on different things in the Olympic Season. I swore to myself not to be disappointed, but some part of me is. I wanted something new and different. Well, it is what it is.

well the footwork section will be awesome... i see it already in my head

And I'm crying! Please North America, and if not for the GP events, how about at least a Challenger event. :console:

Well let's hope we can both be satisfied :agree:

And MaiKatze that would be great ! At least I won't be the only one thrilled if that was to happen! :haha:

^^^Salt Lake City would be great -- Sept. 13 to 17. Not sure when J Open is. Sounds like it might be a loco schedule which would probably suit Shomita just fine.

I must admit I'm always a bit intimidated when it comes to travelling to France. I've never been there, only travelled through Calais to get to the UK. There is this image that French people will hate you if you don't speak in their language...and well, my French is almost non-existant. *help* That kept me from going to Nice in 2012, when I really wanted to. I got to get over that fear somehow, for Shoma. :) Still I don't think he will do both European stops. NHK and CoC we can rule out. Maybe Yuzuru will go to France this year instead of SC? But then I don't know if Orser wants Yuzuru and Javier in the same competitions, and I'm almost positive that Javier will stay in Europe, too. And I think Skate America is still likely. Who knows.....

What do you think of Shoma announcing his programs that early? Is it protection, if someone also wants to use this music, so they know?

hehe... do not fear... the GP won't be in Paris anyways... i have been to France... they get too many tourists and get impatient.. but it's not worse than being in other places where there is one language that is so dominant...

my advice.. just say a few words in french and then apologize and switch to english or something ;)

shoma clearly doesn't speak french and would he be invited to france would still go ;)

Oh no that's too bad! But I totally understand you... French people are not the most friendly ones. I always try to be nice to strangers, because I hate that reputation we have. If you come to our GP, I would be glad to show you the Frenchies' bright side ;) (+ it's no longer in Paris and we all know that Parisians are the worst lol).
I was screwed when I saw that NHK and France were back to back, because it totally destroyed the chances to see Yuzuru in France, but I wondered: don't you think it's possible JSF will choose Shoma, as the National Champion to compete in NHK ? Hanyu is a safe money maker but Shoma's popularity has grown so much he could fill the arena too... Or is he too much of a rising star, and would become the "Hanyu post 2018"?

As for the programs, I've always seen the early announcements like "I'm skating to this music don't you dare touch it", especially for those known as warhorses, whereas the late disclosures are often more uncommon choices. But there may be other reasons. Perhaps it's also meant to send a message like "I'm already preparing myself to kick your *** y'all"

It's a prejudice for sure. I don't know this from my own experience, but it's the image that France has in Germany, oh they will hate you, if you don't speak french and won't help you, deliberately send you in the wrong direction if you're lost. Stuff like that. Even worse when they find out you're German. I hope that's not the case. I don't know if you remember, but in 2015 a plane crashed in the french mountains that was headed to Düsseldorf and many of the victims were German. It was a horrible tragedy but so many family and friends of those who died travelled to the mountainside and the people in the village have appearantly been so nice and kind, it really impressed me, how sweet they were. So, it certainly depends on the area.

Where is the GP, if not in Paris? Is it decided already? I don't think Shoma will get NHK. Not yet. And not pre-Olympics when Yuzuru is reigning World Champion and defending Olympic Champion. But since the schedule this season is so different, I'm not sure what to think. Because the GPF is also in Japan.
