Whoa, so much happened while I was on a mini-vacation for just a couple of days! Eight new pages!

Hello! I’ve been away from the thread for a while. I promised new photos from Worlds before and finally, they’re here! There's not much (unfortunately, no empty seats for the FS closer and no open practice either), but still: https://www.flickr.com/photos/asveri/sets/72157683984029996
It's the FS + a little bit from the Victory Ceremony after, so enjoy some Loco!

So well-put. Thank you!

Thank YOU for the compliment, Verit! Throwing that one right back at you: your photos from Worlds are fantastic! Thank you for sharing them with us. :agree:

Hello everyone!
I am a new Shoma fan. When I searched more information on him I found this place. This is such a lovely and encouraging place that I had to join in on the fun! :hap10:

Super belated welcome to the forum and to Shoma's thread, Bel! Make yourself comfy! :) And thank you for the Finnish commentary translation! Kiira and Jere were so vocal about their adoration for Shoma! Love it when commenators don't hold back!

Shoma will be at Skate Canada and in France according to this list.

Shoma being assigned to SC and France seems to please a lot of people. I'm happy for everyone, who gets to see him at one of these GPs! Now the question is: can I make it to Grenoble? Always wanted to explore that region anyway, especially Lyon... maybe Pika can show me around? ;)

Re Shoma's "Winter" SP:

I actually like that the edit and element placement are going against the current! If you're going to skate to a warhorse, make it different! That's what Mihoko-sensei did by replacing the "built-in" step sequence with two spins on the crescendo. I like this concept! There are a few empty spaces at the moment, but more importantly the program has a lot of potential to become a classic when Steph adds his magical touch (Or did he already have some input? Placing two spins at the end seems like sth. he would do.) and Sho becomes more comfortable with it and gets a feel for the nuances and accents. We all know his programs always need a bit of mileage to reach their potential. Can't wait for its next incarnation! :hap85:

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm actually glad there's no cantilever in the SP. It's a very impressive element, which not many skaters can do as well as Shoma, but I think it's at risk to lose its wow-effect, if its used in every program. As several others here, I'm convinced it's going to be the highlight of Turandot again!

Finally: Yay, Arriba, our on-site reporter is on it again! So happy for you that your worries were baseless and you didn't only get to "spy" on Shoma's training, but also had an opportunity to interact with him! :hap10: Can I have one of those KitKats? :p It's remarkable and extremely gracious how Sho and his family are so adamant about showering friends and supporters alike with gifts to show their appreciation. Soon you'll be considered family yourself! ;) Would've loved to listen in on your "conversations" with him and Alex. Did you ask Shoma, if he received your tie? Keeping my fingers crossed you'll get an exclusive preview of his new Turandot! Btw do you know/can you ask, if he intends to present it in the foreseeable future as well?

They were working on jumps when I got there -- mostly (let's see if you can guess!) the edge of the lutz (and the mechanics). How about that?! He's trying to improve one of his weaknesses. They reviewed the 4Lo too, and he did some beautiful ones. I heard that before I got there, he put on the music and was going through bits and pieces of the new Nessun Dorma. Hope he'll do more of that tomorrow.

Didn't doubt this one bit! He's surrounded by a splendid team, who knows what needs to be done (like working on that bloody Lutz edge!) and who to bring in to make things work. Maybe because Shoma sometimes learns new elements almost inhumanly fast (like the 4T, 4F and 4Lo), some people seem to forget that not all improvements can happen overnight! I'm sure his team has all sorts of mid- and long-term plans in place. Thank you so much for sharing and looking forward to further updates! :2thumbs: (As long as it's ok to share - don't want you to get into trouble!)

Hard to believe it's off-season. We got so many news this week! :D

I agree about Winter, love the final spin to the crescendo. Ah, Shoma will reach new heights next season, I can feel it! :yahoo:

Be still my heart! Guess who's baaaaccccckkkk?! I was beginning to wonder what was going on and why he wasn't here yet! But yes - the Winter Prince is here! When I walked in the ice rink, I heard the music from "Your Name" (the only music he claims to know!) playing, so I knew he was here.

The most fun -- 4 of us were sitting in the bleachers, and all of a sudden Shoma came walking up the stairs and gave us all a bag of candy as a present! Oh my gosh, I'll treasure my Japanese Kit Kats! https://pic.twitter.com/sJQwyAy5sr Then I asked if I could take his picture. Someone took a picture of me with him and of course I cropped myself out, but that's my arm! https://pic.twitter.com/VU7wKOC8PI Wow, when I'm so close I can see the teeny beauty marks on his face, I'm too close! Ha! We were trying to talk with him for a few minutes, although that didn't work so well! But you get the sense he is SO nice and SO polite. He is surprisingly at ease considering his lack of English! Alex told us not to eat the candy and was joking around that it was probably poison. I don't think so!

I'm so. Happy. for. YOU ! It's amazinggggg ! The Kitkat things is priceless. And the picture is lovely.
Good to know his working on that Lutz that often makes me close my eyes :hopelessness: And hoping for a great improvement on the success rate of 4Lo.
Thanks for the report and looking forward to another !!

It's always nice to see a post from you too, TTM. Idk what the Shoma thread would be without Arriba, I totally agree. She watches over us and Shoma, hehe! :o:

Thank you so much, Arriba627 for this report and letting us know Shoma arrived safe in US!! So kind to give you and friends candies as present. Shoma is quite a nice and sweet boy.

So glad you have the chance to spend some time with him. Enjoy and be happy!!! and be our spy!

And "thank you" to all fans who post and share their feelings and cheers for Shoma. Unfortunately I have very little time to spend on the web so I'm mainly lurking here. Anyway I really enjoy reading how passionate and dear fans you all are!!

I already love this new Short and - as many of you - I have the feeling that it will grow both on technical and emotional sides with any new performance. Love the way Shoma moves his head, arms and hands. With a look at Uncle Dai, but with a strong personality of his own, not just a void copy.

That never-ending final spin..... as soon as he manages to perform it with the right amount of stamina.... it will be a masterpiece

So happy for you Arriba!! And thanks for the report! :hap57: If you have the chance to speak to him again, please tell him how many people are rooting for him :hap10:

The KitKat thing is adorable, indeed :) He always looks so happy. I guess that is what you look like when you do the thing that you enjoy the most!

All this talk about the final spin made me want to watch the Winter again, so I did. Oh, who am I kidding... I need very little encouragement to watch it again  :luv17: And again...

 SAMURAI SHOMA-KUN--PART 2 -- Loved seeing Shoma's 2 EX's See You Again and This Town. Those of us present agreed that the cantilever with the hand on the ice and those beautiful butterfly moves in This Town were our favorite moves! After all this time, I'm still just so impressed with his effortless gliding across the ice. He did a gorgeous spread eagle right in front of us, and it's hard to believe how far back he's leaning on that move. He did a (very) few bits and pieces of Winter and Nessun Dorma. I had to leave during Nessun Dorma so don't know what was going on with that.

As always, jumps, jumps, jumps. Don't know how he does it. He has to be in incredible shape. He is amazing and is a joy to watch.

ETA -- I want to write other stuff and answer some questions that people asked in previous posts, but I don't have time to do it right now. Sorry.

Don't worry about that! You'll answer when you have time. So exciting!

Hand on ice cantilever and butterfly moves are my favourites too 😊.

I have adblock on so I don't see adds but I think the (invisible) adds may be pushing the quote tables to occupy less space since they look smaller.

Seems like those ads appeared today because GS implemented a new system that can make you a 'supporter' for 40 USD per year. Unless we pay, we have to live with it, I guess. I hope the mods know what they are doing.

Arriba, are you going to both shows tomorrow? Maybe Shoma will perform both This Town and See You Again.

^^^Yes, looking forward to the shows tomorrow. For any local people, there are still tickets available at https://www.tututix.com/glacierskate for $14. The $14 is worth it just to see his amazing spread eagle! No purple pants, I'm sure. :sad4:

Have fun at the Show tomorrow Arriba! Give a cheer to Shoma and the other skaters from me!😊

What is with these adds showing up in my posts?????? Is this going to happen all the time?
