Wow - that is definitely the right red for him ( the orange-red). I'm dying. Looks like the jackets from Asian Winter Games. Makes me hear the music for Winter in the background.

Off season made me watch this...braced-Shoma is adorable, hehe. And that program was great! Competing with Daisuke and Nobu, and Yamada making him bow...ha, precious youth.

What a great job considering he had just turned 16. I love how Yamada can't stop hitting him! Probably my top favorite kiss and cry. That brought a smile to my face.

My favourite part of the interview is when he doesn't answer the question, head tilts and thinks so long that the interviewer helps with an prepared answer, haha.

Oh, I hadn't seen Shoma's programs before his 2014-2015 season (I need to remedy this), so I didn't know he'd skated to Irish-ish music. Loving it! I then also checked his SP and noticed he kind of had a theme that season. The K&C scenes were great. Yamada and Higuchi were so effusively happy for him. And the interview after, he looks so cute and tired and his voice is kind of different than what I'm used to now.

While I was in a Shoma mood, I found myself finally watching bb!Shoma's Tzigane program I'd seen recommended before. He's always been so musical, even as wee one. The way he used his hands and wrists was already quite lovely back then.

Puberty hitting him right at that point. The change in his voice over the past few years is fascinating, plus the braces! Considering he wasn't even doing quads or triple axels at this point, it's quite impressive that he landed 7th overall in that year's (2013) Japanese Nationals. Now I know why the older skaters (Misha, Yuzuru, and I think Keiji as well) take his hand and make him wave at the crowd- they're imitating Coach Yamada!

@Xeyra: Magical eggplant on Tumbler had a post not so long ago regarding a list of Shoma's junior programs that she liked (it seemed like almost all of them in recent years!). He had a lot of good programs. I really liked the Tanguera (2011-12 FS) Jr worlds, blessed spirits (2013-14 SP), and bad boy good man (2012-13 ex medalists on ice)- this last one I think was mentioned by Arriba some time ago? I haven't watched everything yet. The "bad boy, good man" program was really fun (which I hope he'll do more of in his exhibitions), while the Tanguera was more of what you'd expect a tango to look like than Loco (I loved Loco, though). It's pretty good tango movement, considering his age and lack of ballroom dancing lessons. You can see more of Shoma's versatility from his Junior programs, actually.

So I just woke up to find a new Shoma and the ladies picture from FaOI. He looks quite amazing with a scarf-choker... Also one more with Marin and Deniss.

And then there's some promo pictures of his participation in an episode of Gutto! Sports on July 4th, 09:25-10:15 JST (NHK-G), where he will learn tips on socializing, how to do magic and play darts. The tiny tricycle one, I can't....

Edit: Have also found this new translation of the moment with Shoma, Nobu and an interviewer at FaOI 2015, where poor Shoma gets no word in edgewise but gets praised on his sensuality. I love how Nobu and the lady put Shoma in the middle of the two of them so he can't escape again!

Today is my birthday, and I was thinking it would be a wonderful present if he were here! There is a big enough gap in his schedule, but no. He has such a busy schedule this summer that it seems that the next free "chunk" of time is in August after The Ice in Nagoya. :sad4:

Aww, happy birthday, Arriba627! You did see him a few weeks ago and he gave you chocolate, so maybe it can be considered an advanced birthday gift? Plus you got to take a picture with him! (Which Kanna might not be allowed to do in the Yokohama event, despite buying the expensive Shoma necklace). I hope you have a good one anyway! I LOL'd several times at the 2015 Faoi video! Nobu and his Kansai-ness. He had such a great time teasing/bullying the easily embarrassed Shomita. The "sensuality" talk was hilarious! So funny that even they noticed that Shoma has a "sensual' face when he does the cantilever. Also, the half-hearted attempt at playacting against Nobu's Darth Vader, plus trying to escape twice from his exuberant interviewers! Nobu should interview him more. Maybe at Japan Open?
