Has anyone posted this before? Shoma crying long ago, and now laughing at it.

I can't find it anymore but I've seen a video where there are other people watching the same footage in a studio and all the ladies go "awwwwwww......"

My Twitter has been spammed with those Shoma on tiny tricycle pic--really curious what the full show is about. So cute I couldn't resist drawing it.

Happy birthday, Arriba! May you be blessed with more encounter with Shoma! :luv17:

I LOL'd several times at the 2015 Faoi video! Nobu and his Kansai-ness. He had such a great time teasing/bullying the easily embarrassed Shomita. The "sensuality" talk was hilarious! So funny that even they noticed that Shoma has a "sensual' face when he does the cantilever. Also, the half-hearted attempt at playacting against Nobu's Darth Vader, plus trying to escape twice from his exuberant interviewers! Nobu should interview him more. Maybe at Japan Open?

That interview is just pure gold! Especially when he's trying to escape. Also, some words of wisdom from Nobu: "Shoma, Shoma. The worst thing to be is to be embarrassed. If you’re gonna do it, do it. If you’re not gonna do it, don’t do it. Do you understand?"

Happy Birthday Arriba

Now THAT is a birthday present! :dance2: Yes Marin, there is plenty of room to sit there! How cute do they look?!

This is a bit off-topic, but I decided to add the subs to the video ^^ I'm on mobile, so I can't really paste links into words all fancily, plus I'm in a little rush, so here is the raw link! https://youtu.be/rngiSqJkGZo!

I hope you enjoy! :0

Also: Happy birthday, Arriba! Sorry I didn't get to say it earlier! ;0;

Thank you so much to everyone for the wonderful birthday greetings! :thank: :ghug: I have 12 Kit Kats left, so I took many people's great suggestion and ate one! I have to ration them out. Hope you enjoyed my one-day-only birthday avatar. In case you missed it, it was a picture of a purple, velvet volleyball. Uhhhh, maybe it was something else!?

While everyone is watching old Shoma programs to get them through the off-season, I've always loved his Kreutzer sonata. He has such a wonderful feel for the music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYF9j0fdlKE I seem to remember seeing him skate that in one of the ice shows with a violinist accompanying him.

iorii, you are really talented! I love your tricycle Shomita drawing! I think we are in for a treat on that variety show. This may be almost as good as Marin sitting on the mighty thighs! What did MaiKatze say? The whole Honda family could sit on Shoma's thighs!

ETA - since Japan didn't come here, I went to a Japanese garden instead. Very beautiful. www.andersongardens.org Great way to spend a birthday.

Love your drawing of Shomita!

Thank you! I'm glad you like it!! I haven't drawn for a long time, so I was actually quite nervous with the result. Shoma made me draw!

Thank you so much for your hard work! Shoma tiptoeing to escape is so cute.

Nobu : 'let's sandwich him with our kansai-ness' poor Shoma. They sure had fun doing this to him.

What a nice day to rewatch this program. Shoma's blue costume is strikingly good. His musicality is truly wonderful.

Thank you, I'm flattered! Here is a late gift for you. The tiny stuffs on his hands are kit kats, in case my drawing fails to convey it.

The garden looks pretty, glad to know you spent a nice birthday!

You're right Arriba, Sho performed to Kreutzer MOI 2015 (you can see the violinist play in some shots) Those interested can see the video here
unfortunately though, the video does not have the legend encore, but it's still quite good

Shoma skating to live violin is so nice--you can feel the intensity. Too bad the video is cut off during a gorgeous spin :(

:laugh2: Shoma looks happy and surprised at the same time. What, I have a girl on my lap? Well, maybe he will finally start showing interest to something else than just skating and gaming  Marin on the other hand, looks very happy! :hap85:

It's really interesting to watch his progress from junior to senior and see how fast and far he has risen in the Senior world and it's all the results of his determination and hard work. He also doesn't seem to struggle with stamina at all now, compared to when he first entered Seniors. It's amazing how he can still do that amazing last spin with such speed and quality after 4 and half minutes. From the video, I also learned Shoma only basically started doing proper warm-ups last season. He finally figured out they were good for him! This reminds me of Yuzuru basically learning that paying attention to nutrition was good for him last season too. Sigh. Are all Japanese men this hopeless? :palmf:  I also never noticed he used his blade slightly off-center. I didn't even know one could balance himself in a blade that wasn't centered; it looks hard enough as it is!

This translation of his documentary was really fascinating, wasn't it? I felt like I learned so much more about him! His stamina is amazing. I remember one broadcaster remarking after he finished one of his programs that he looked like he could skate it a second time with no problem! What I also liked was that he seems to be getting into the mental game of things really well. It just seemed to me that he has the mind of a champion - strange as that mind might be sometimes!

I noticed in his junior spins, he seemed to lose speed towards the end of his spins. Not so now! Wow! He keeps the speed up throughout. Now if he can just keep the travel down to a minimum. Honestly, he is a winner!...I listened to this entire thing with no subtitles when it first came out, just because I love to hear his voice. But it was great to learn all the little details...I love that when he travels he wears shirts that fans gave him. Maybe he'll wear the Nessun Dorma shirt I gave him!

Uggghhhh - all that beef! :drama: :handw: We need to conjure up some kind of spell and get his diet on track! Glad to know he eats yogurt and likes milk. He needs all the calcium he can get for some of those falls he takes!

ETA -- Just re-watched Sho's FS from WTT. After he finished, Tanith White said "Look at him, he's not even breathing heavily after that!" Stamina to the max!

Annis seed just uploaded the 2015 MOI complete performance+encore + interview with mao asada!

https://youtu.be/6xOrWmh7cQ8

The difference in his stamina from the 2015-16 to 2016-17 season is remarkable! He's breathing so hard in the interview here, but so calm after his FS this year! I think the training in the US and afterwards did a lot of good.

It took me all day today to finish watching the subtitled documentary!! Sneaking views during work downtime. He's maturing so well yet remaining humble despite his growth and achievements. So admirable. I almost feel like a proud relative, haha. He needs to learn to eat those veggies again, though! His diet is sort of abominable (beef and rice all day long, wash down with milk tea, repeat).

On the "Marin-sitting on Shoma's lap picture", I can't decide what his face is trying to convey. Pleasantly surprised? Amused? "Oops, you caught me on camera?" I dunno. Whatever that happy face means, I'm just glad we finally have a picture!

Wow! You have a talent. We need to hire you for the Shoma thread. Love the drawing! I'm going to print it and hang it by my computer. What a great birthday present. Thank you. Love the Kit Kats! :laugh2:

The newest issue of International Figure Skating magazine published a Top 20 highlights of skaters who challenged themselves and, in turn, others; skaters who rose to the top of their game and the brave ones that soldiered on when the going got tough. No big surprise that Shoma was one of the 20 skaters they picked! Here are a few of their comments:

For the past two seasons, Shoma has been on the verge of something big. It was never a question of if, but when, he would achieve a major breakthrough. The most significant moment of Uno's season happened in Helsinki in early April. Considered a dark horse heading into the World Championships, the 19-year-old Nagoya native skated into second place and captured the silver medal.

But what caught everyone's attention was the 2.28 point difference that separated him and the winner, Yuzuru Hanyu, in the final standings. Uno backed up that silver medal with a win in the short program at the World Team Trophy and a second-place finish in the long program, again just two points behind Hanyu, who won the free skate portion...In one season, Uno shrugged off his junior style and developed into a dangerous competitor, armed with multiple quads and a rapidly improving artistry.

:hap10:  :clapper:

Thx for posting the subtitled doc, xeyra! :agree: Hope to get to watch it this weekend.

Is this an answer to the mystery of "where's Shoma?":

Seems he's in Montreal with ice dance coach/choreographer Romain Haguenauer, if this is recent. Maybe working on basics/SS? :scratch3:
