He should be pleased with that. Beautiful one foot skating too. Level 2's don't thrill me too much, but they were pretty tough on everyone. Gotta check the protocols. The things I care about the most -- his condition looks better and his stamina seemed back to normal. As in he's not gasping for air at the end of the performance. Hopefully the effects of the flu are long behind him at this point. Maybe he's lucky he got the flu out of the way already!

Just got back home but I was following live result and managed to watch him live with my phone during dinner. Shoma, what is the level 2??? But spins were very good though, and at least he did enough to just sneak into first place. But that is tie. He still needs to do perfect on Saturday.

It's all fine, something to work on for future competitions. I'm glad he really wanted this one. By the way, that newer costume is really very sparkly and eye catching in person! Love it. I didn't feel nervous at all before the 4F, but slightly at the 4T-2t. He looked slightly nervous but really determined during the warm up and before performing, and his jumps were pretty good during the warm up, but somewhat off kilter during the performance. I'm hoping this performance motivates him for the free. I'm also glad he's feeling all the pressure now- as MaiKatze said before, he needs to get used to it. I feel his step sequence was not as good as in Nationals or GPF, but again, something to focus on.

Also, I didn't realize how you'd really cheer on everyone and feel so bad for any mistakes live! And feel so happy when everything is clean!

I cheered extra hard for Shoma for everyone here, and of course for myself! Also had to laugh at all the food plushies that got thrown on the ice!

It's such a different feeling seeing skating live, I agree. You just want everyone to land their jumps and do their best, no matter if they are your favourite or not. At least I always feel that way, when I watch live. I can only be more critical when I watch on TV/stream. Somehow it feels more real in the arena, and like these are really people who do their best every day in their sport, while it's easier to watch at home with a bag of snacks, playing armchair judge and saying "Well, that sucked." :)

At a Nationals and at Sk Amer, I've seen the females of two pairs SLAM into the boards after a fall. I can't even tell you how bad we felt! I think when you're sitting there so close, you realize how human they are! And also how incredibly hard all this stuff is that they do...I wondered if anyone would throw food plushies. That cabbage from IdF and the massive chicken leg pillow at Sk Can are still my top favorites. Did you bring anything to throw? Maybe some CKs?!

Exactly! I couldn't help but groan and feel bad when someone falls or pops their jumps. And when the skater is so disappointed after their performance, I felt especially awful.

Well, I think at least I was the only one who reacted strongly when Shoma did the 2T. The Japanese lady in front of me (who had flags from so many countries on her lap and would wave the appropriate one artery performances) didn't react that much, but she was cheering "Ganba Shoma! Ganbare Keiji!" during the warm up.

Figure skating fans are so supportive (well, at least the live audience mostly were). [emoji1]

Yikes, that was probably hard to watch. Ouch.

No, I didn't. [emoji30] I didn't know what to give and its been a busy time (plus wow, the distance to throw those things, it might as well be a moat between the audience and the rink, several people almost hit cameramen and cameras and other audience members, lol). I'll have to plan for Worlds though. I need to get ideas from you! (No CKs though, I don't have the guts to throw that!)

We can meet up at Worlds and throw something together!

I would love that! [emoji38] If I'm with you, I might even get the courage to throw some CKs for him! [emoji16] or maybe a pillow reminding him to use lip balm, at least. Looking forward to it!!!

My favourite moment was Fluffy and Kobayashi-san sprinting over to Shoma, while he is bombarded with Dino plushies. That audience really loved Shoma, it was heartwarming! Thank you for cheering, Latremu!

Wah, I didn't get to see the Dino plushies! I was seated behind the scoreboard (a mistake never to be repeated again) and couldn't see the scores or what was happening at the K&C! Also, when the audience would see the scores and cheer loudly, I didn't hear them, so I had to look it up (I didn't know Shoma's score until it came up on the delayed "livestream", because the audience cheered so loudly when it came up on the scoreboard- at least I knew he was first, based on the cheers). Fortunately, I'll be on the other side during the FS.

Really enjoyed hearing Charlie White's comments on the Olympic Channel:

Dynamic use of the music on the last spin. I am so impressed with a skater at such a young age – the maturity he shows, the confidence, the precision, the musicality, every movement is completely under control. It just creates an aura of power and expertise. He is so young to be able to bring that to figure skating in preparation for the Olympics. Again, I can’t say how impressive it is.

The quad flip – he can often times swing his upper body and it comes around to get him on the landing of the jumps. You can see his left elbow coming around, as he’s landing. So he has to put on the brakes a little to manage it – but he manages it very well. He Is so strong.

Wonderful use of intricate steps. Here we see a set up into the 4T – 2T, planned to be a 3T. He probably could have done the 3T but he was playing it a little bit safe.

The 3A – so easy and the spread eagle in and out so impressive. The quality of this program and the choreo is so well thought out. There is a reason why he is going to get the monster score he’ll get. Everything that he needs to compete (here and at the Olympics) is there for him.

Didn't realize they've had the draw already for the free skate. Sho is 3rd from the last. So it goes Sho, Keiji, and then Jin.
