That was a graceful performance in spite of the fall. I loved it!

Still room to do better scorewise. 4Lo looked fine but it got ur and StSq was level3 but I think this version of Turandot is the best of all the previous ones he has had. The changes were imo for the better, like the Nessum dorma part and the entry to 3A, also the hand up position in the first spin was really lovely.

Overall quality of Shoma´s skating is very high and I do hope all skaters like him would get rewarded of that more than what happens now.

Totally agree. I just watched his performance and loved it. Even with his PC adavantatge over Boyang Sho needed to be
clean to win this competition. I guess I am in the minority but love his new costume.

Just watched the program again. When he left the ice, I got to see the back of that costume. Wow! Typical Satomi Ito. Very beautiful. Still not sure on the color though. Just watched the gala. Sheesh, he was getting a lot of screams. He looked pretty happy and almost back to normal hair! So the power went out at the end of the gala?! That's something different.

KAKKOII! I wondered why he smiled! Ha! That was probably Latremu and Kanna yelling!!! :clapper: :dbana:

I think losses, at least in the heart of us fans, don't hurt as much when it was a good skate and someone else stepped up and was simply better. I feel no bitterness and I am super okay with it. Even going to 4CC deserves a lot of respect, in my opinion. I'm a bit sad that he lost the LP to Boyang, but it was such a step up to his last competitions, it can only get better.

Yes this performance was definitley a step in the right direction and I hope Sho is proud of himself. He needs to
embrace confidence and not doubt himself. He is in great shape and can do these jumps.

He is saving the best for last. GO Shoma!

Arriba are you still up. You must be exhausted!

Yeah I heard the screams. The ladies love Shoma and why not they have good taste.

Just got back from breakfast. Ok -- now it's REALLY time to go to bed. I get so wound up though that I can't sleep. Maybe a couple sleeping pills?! There are so many programs I want to watch again though! Very exciting competition. And besides what we saw today, imagine throwing Javi, Mikhail, Patrick, Yuzu, Nathan (did I miss anyone?) into the mix! :jaw: Go Mr. Kakkoii!

You're not. I think it's amazing. I'm sad to see it go. Shoma can wear new costumes in every competition, and you wouldn't hear a complaint from my side.

Aliev has an outside shot, and perhaps Vincent Zhou?

Am just catching up quickly and I have never seen so much on our fanfest! Thank you everyone for celebrating Shoma's Silver!!!

What’s a fight it was after the fall on the 4F. Moments like this that remind me why I love Shoma so much. Ganbatte Shomita !!!

I have only see his free with a lot of disruption in an uncomfortable position, but Shomachika's words is exactly what I feel!
I can't wait to enjoy it many times later. And the ex is This Town? Funny it fits my mood today.

My feeling is miss opportunity. Sho spent too much time on shows in the off season and not enough time with a tech training those quads. I think four quad is enough but the consistency is not there.

I like quads. But they're not my favorite thing necessarily. I only want him to achieve secure consistency so he has extra left to manifest his expressiveness always!

That was such a dead banana moment!! I was right in front of the big screen, and I heard someone scream (I didn't hear that it was kakoi), then he was distracted from his "switch on" mode and smiled like that! I nearly melted! I was smiling throughout his skate, he makes me so happy!

I was one of the screamers, but honestly, he (and Jason) got the loudest screams (other than the local skaters) both during the EX and competition, you wouldn't have heard my crazy loud screams anyway.

I did, however, scream for a less cheered for skater. Karne owes me. I wanted all the men to skate clean, but Max didn't look so good during the warm up and looked nervous before then, so I shouted "Go Max!" before he struck his opening pose. You can hear it on his FS video, lol. It seemed to work, since he skated clean after! I guess I should have cheered for Han Yan too (I think he jinxed Shoma a little, hmph). I definitely did the same for Shoma, no way was I taking chances!

The lights and music went off during Tarah Kayne and Danny o'Shea's ex, but they went ahead and completes the performance without music, to loud cheers from the crowd. People turned on their cellphone flashlights to light up the arena.

It's a good thing Shoma was silver, otherwise I wouldn't have seen him skate his EX!

Skaters do shows to earn money the Federation does not pay for all of their expenses which for a skater and especially
for an elite skater are quite high. I do not want to second guess his team decisions but I always thought that Shoma would
have benefited from having a jump coach on his team in Japan.

By the way, I only now found out that his 4L was deemed underrotated. It didn't like that to me. But whatever. It was still a really good performance!

Yes he took a real hit on his Tes with that call.

Imagine me with one eyebrow raised. But it's okay. As Charlie White said, "I almost want to say, it's better that he didn't skate 100% clean, because he wants to save that skate for the Olympics." To get such a score with 2 underrotated quads and a fall is quite impressive. Imagine if he was fully clean! And... ALL COMBOS IN SECOND HALF WERE DONE WELL! Combos are back in business!

I agree with Charlie White. He might have felt pressured with a perfect skate here. But he rallied after the fall, and that's the most important!!

Just stopping by to say how much I enjoyed Shoma last night - it was really beautiful despite the fall! I’m of the mindset that it’s good he wasn’t perfect here - now is not the time to peak; he’s a fierce competitor, and I’m sure he will pull out all stops at the Olympics.

I was really surprised at the criticism of his new costume- I personally think it’s beautiful and suits him very well. To me it’s very close to something you might actually see Calaf (hero of Turandot, who is a Chinese prince) wear -just adapted to the demands of skating (in the opera his top would probably be a full length robe). Love the embroidery detail on the back and the fade to blue at the waist.

Onward, Shoma!

Congratulations to Shoma for the silver! :clapper: :hap36: He's on the right track towards the Olympics. Nice to see that he got positive GOEs on everything else except the underrotated jumps :)
