Open armpits and a slightly curved body are always two decisive factors.
Sorry, I think I crossed the line here. :slink:

Oh no no you are FAR behind the line ;) Imagine him doing that pose when he is showering (did i cross the line? lol)

Yey, thanks for all the translations and pictures, hamaguri! Thanks for the video, demarinis! Kurt and (was that Carol?) are super complimentary of Shoma. Nice to hear. "Both an athlete and artistic, a skater's skater"... Just warms my heart.

Some mistakes and nerves, but otherwise a really good performance! The step sequence was a level 3 but still a great score!!

Im wondering how much he felt asleep...[emoji23]

He got up at 5am, and came here on 6am bus sleeping several times (reporters laugh) , he did hardly warm-up and thought it was good if his body wouldn't move..

Someone tweeted, For shoma,
Vegetable=Sleepiness >>>>>>>curse of olympics
Haha, yes. Let's overcome the nerves with some mild sleepiness. [emoji23]

So relieved and happy for our Winter Prince! So happy he is smiling! The ending face is :dbana::dbana:

I loved Uncle Kurt's comments above. He also said Shoma is one of the most artistic committed skaters to his music he has ever seen. Nice to hear his words...Not a perfect performance by any means, but he did all he could for his team and had a chance to get out there and get the feel of the arena. I couldn't tell when he went into his final spin if he was smiling or grimacing. Did he cut his hand (again?!)...We were commenting a lot on the ice in the competition thread, but the other day I remember the skaters and commentators saying that the ice was in good condition. I suppose today is a different day and conditions could be different. I guess the men just screwed up. I'm waiting for my friends to ask me (the ones who rarely watch skating) "Why do they fall so much?' :palmf:

Thought you guys would enjoy this tweet.

I'm so proud of him for putting out an awesome first performance:hap10:. Although it wasn't perfect, it was still quite stunning. This program is perhaps my favorite men's short program of the season and I want him to perform the heck out of it during the individual event. Go Shoma!

did someone watch Eurosport?? what did they say? so annoying that all the videos are blocked :dev2:

Hello everyone!! It's been a while since I came here, I missed everyone :ghug: my puppies have grown, they don't need to be fed all the time anymore so I have more time to come here now. I still update myself with news about Shomachka daily! (Please be proud of me)

I woke up early to watch the SP today and while the others' performance shocked me, I'm so proud of our Shomachka!!! His happy smile brings me joy. I'm amazed that he said he wasn't actually that nervous compared to Japanese Nationals. I hope he can keep up with this and nail that 4F!!!! :yay:

I watch from NBC and I wish Tara/Johnny could--talk less--I just want to watch in peace--but someone from blocked country can't be picky...

Congrats Shoma on winning the SP for Team Event. He seems to be in good shape to me. The first half of the program is not very good with the landing of the flip and the downgraded step sequence, but in the 2nd half he was amazing. I hope he and his team will fix whatever problems with the flip and step sequence because he has struggled with them in the programs this season.

But, props to Shoma for keeping his cool and fighting till the end.

Congrats to Shoma! I was hoping for this result, and seeing my hopes confirmed lifted my mood today. It was in bad need of lifting anyway, as when I got up this morning to watch the Men's event on Eurosport (just TV, I avoid online watching whenever I can), what do I see but Shoma's SP in which both sound and picture kept failing. I gave up after the first quad. I don't know the problem was with Eurosport itself or the local provider, but it was a disgrace to Shoma's skating. Not to mention the onslaught of commercials after, it seems, each skate. Selling exclusive rights to Discovery was a bad, bad, bad idea.
Anyhow, I hope this outing boosts Shoma's confidence for the individual event!

He never says anything bad about anybody, and never makes excuses for himself. Good for him.
