Yes, but I am not sure we can trust any information coming from the infamous Didier Gaillaguet :disapp:
Another problem is that assuming that Yuzuru gets NHK and France, and the JSF wants to avoid having Shoma and Yuzuru at the same GPs that leaves Skate Canada and CoC for Shoma which are back to back and not in the same time zone... maybe NHK (of France) could get both ???
(I love speculating too :scratch3:)

Not that he can decide until ISU assigned them, but didn't Nathan said he'll go to France since that's during one of Yale's break? if that's the case good chance Shoma won't go to France. He can't go to Rostelecom either because Mikhail will be there so I think it will be most likely NHK or worst case CoC.

Basically I want Shoma to win every GP event there is, and he's won Skate America, Skate Canada and half of TEB (when it was still called TEB, it counted as a win). So he needs to go to NHK, Rostelecom (again) and Cup of China. I dislike CoC, because people like to get sick over there, but who knows.

I´ve seen two French articles about the press conference held already in February 27th where Didier spoke about the upcoming GP France. Both of the articles say only that maybe YH will be there. There were no further explanations why his name was mentioned though it is still not sure and the final decisions have not been made by ISU. Anyway Shoma has recently been there twice so maybe France is not in his schedule next season in any case.

One of the reasons I hope it is NHK because that is only one that Sota might be competing, with Japan being host country.

Oh -- let the speculation begin! We can think about it for 2-1/2 months! I am hoping for Sk Can, and I wouldn't mind seeing him at NHK if that is something he would be interested in. The only thing I don't like about NHK is that he has a lot of fans in other countries that I think would enjoy seeing him. His Japanese fans can see him at the ice shows. I know he can't get Sk Am because Nathan will probably be there. Too bad, because that would be an easy U.S. west coast trip for him (and his Japanese fans). He has done well at the France events, and the only other place he had was Rostelecom, where he got the silver...It seems weird to be thinking about it so early, since the GP events don't begin until the end of October. I have to occupy my mind with something though!

Not only ice shows but Japanese Nationals and that other competition....you, know bigger fish. :p

Oh, I can't even think that far ahead! I'm barely over this year's Worlds jet lag. Bottom line for me, he should go elsewhere. Maybe some voodoo will help bring him to North America.

Schedule:
October 19-21, 2018 USA
October 26-28, 2018 Canada
November 2-4, 2018 China
November 9-11, 2018 Japan
November 16-18, 2018 Russia
November 23-25, 2018 France
Junior and Senior Grand Prix Final
December 6-9, 2018 Vancouver, BC, Canada

I agree that I want him to win everything at some point :hap10:, but for this year, Rostelecom is highly unlikely (ideally, he'd get China and Russia and win both! Then only NHK will be left unwon.). Skate America is also not going to happen, but then he's won that, so it's okay. Although he's won Skate Canada, I do think there's a high chance of him getting that. They don't really have a big star among the men right now, so they're more likely to invite him (too soon after Skate America for Nathan, and Shoma would likely be a bigger draw than Kolyada). I think China will do their best NOT to invite him (even if Kolyada has won COC, they have a better chance of Boyang winning COC against him than Shoma). NHK is a big ?? depending on certain factors (I betcha they would have loved to take him this past season, all things considered, but it's probably best that didn't happen since he still had the flu then). So I think there's a good possibility that he may go to the same GP events again (Canada and France). This is actually a good schedule for him. Or Canada and NHK, depends.

Or... Kolyada can choose Canada + Russia, Shoma chooses China + IdF, Nathan goes to Sk America and NHK. This is the most convenient for them schedule wise, but we know there are other factors that come into play. Honestly, NHK is a relatively inconvenient event for Mikhail and Shoma (being smack in the middle of the series as it is), it really only works well for Nathan. Eh, who knows. We'll see.

So Arriba what about Worlds in Japan. I am seriously thinking about attending.

True confessions -- I would love to make it 4 in a row, and I think that's why I'm having a hard time convincing myself to buy the GPF tickets, because I should do one or the other, not both. I'm afraid the tickets would be impossible to get for Worlds, unless through a tour package. Whenever I look at tour packages, the cost is so prohibitive. I don't know, maybe I'm better off sitting in front of my computer and watching with Ice Network!!!! Ah, decisions decisions! I think it's awesome you're considering Worlds!

Wow

These assignments are tough. Would NHK do Yuzu and Shoma because if Yuzu wants it then it is his. I would prefer Shoma not go against Yuzu or Nathan before the GPF Finals

^He might go against Yuzuru, but not against Nathan in the GP, it's impossible, first three at Worlds don't meet each other at the next season's GPs.

Where exactly is Worlds again? Saitama? Is there a contingent for foreigners? No one wants to go through japanese ticket hell!

I doubt that Nathan would like to go to NHK either, so I think it's more likely that Mikhail will go to NHK from the three medalists. Then we need to know if Shoma goes to Lombardia again next season, or will perhaps choose another Challenger event. (I'm secretely hoping he will graze the Nebelhorn Trophy with his presence. Hey, it's the 50th anniversary, why not?) Isn't 4CC in the U.S. too? I think there are many chances for you guys to see Shoma next season without having to go to Japan! (But Japan is worth the trip, that's for sure!)

Oh no, isn't Saitama the one where you have to wear Depends because there aren't enough bathrooms (again!).

Hi @tikudzi. You're hilarious!

Yes tickets could be a problem. Like Arriba said maybe a tour package would include tickets but I don't want to have to cash in my 401K for a trip to Worlds. lol

Yes, the 4 CC is in US, it was changed from Colorado Springs to Anaheim, CA in early February next year

I actually think Shoma is gonna chose NHK. He is second to chose and Nathan has no reason to want to go to Japan so yeah i think Sho will select NHK to prepare for worlds in Japan. If Hanyu compete in the GP circuit, pretty sure he is gonna be assigned NHK too which will promise an interesting head to head. Japanese fed, doesn't really have any need to protect/prevent them from facing in the GPs

Oh, don't even worry about the bathrooms. It's Japan. They'll have enough toilets, and they'll probably be high-tech (with a bidet where you can choose to wash the front or back, a button to warm the seat, air to dry after washing, etc). [emoji4]

I think foreigners don't go through the lottery system like the Japanese. The link to buy tickets is different, probably on a first come first serve basis like with GPF last year. It might even be easier. But in any case, I think you need to get the tickets early to make sure. I don't know if a certain number of tickets are reserved for foreigners and how long they keep unsold tickets or what the system is, but better to be safe. So cool, I hope you get to go, demarinis!

Yeah, NHK is the biggest ??? for me. You're right that one of the medalists has to take it, and the logical one would be Shoma, but I also wonder if the Japanese Fed will agree with you. I also believe it would be an interesting head-to-head.
