He would be able to slowly learn English, but again, it is a VERY humbling experience and requires a lot of time and practice. His "thank yous" on the video clip when they gave him the hockey jersey actually sounded pretty good! :agree: That's a good start.

Do you have the video or know where to find it?

Actually it’s David’s knee that’s been taped. According to Yawning Shoma, the new movement is repetitive throughout the program so it might not be something very visible. Good on him for trying something new! So excited to see it!

that was what I thought that I read too. also said that PT assistant had to give him treatment before and after training because his muscles were stiff in learning the new movements/choreo

Hi everyone. I am a newbie in GS. As a classical music lover, I am attracted by Shoma's Winter, especially the srep sequence and the double spins in the end of program. His movements not only hit the notes and melody but also expressed the vision of winter such as snow, cloudy sky or chiily wind. it's very impressive. Initially I just seach shoma's performaces on Youtube, and find out that he is very good at interpreting music. Then by google I find out this forum and shoma's FF. After lurking for months, finally I registered. Thanks everyone for posting interesting and useful information in this thread. Hope soon we will know shoma's music choices for new season programs.

Welcome evacances! Isn’t he a wonder with music? Credit also goes to Mihoko and Stephane for the choreography but yes every movements was well thought of and Shoma executed them with incredible flow that it became such an amazing masterpiece.

Welcome Envacances! One of my favorite things about Shoma is how he is one with the music.

After the pictures from working with David Wilson I can hardly wait seeing his new program! :hap85: Sounds like we'll be seeing something different than before.

Hello everyone.I am a newbie in FF too
(I'm sorry for my poor english)

Choreography by David Wilson...
Wilson 's work with team Yamada' s skater (Shoma), whether it is a competition program or EX, makes my heart warm.

A Japanese newspaper Yomirui simbun article (2012) and an old photo(1990's? David Wilson, Machiko Yamada and her husband, Mihoko Higuchi).
https://web.archive.org/web/2012080...p/column/shirota/news/20120723-OHT1T00163.htm

David Wilson and team Yamada have a relationship for about 20 years.
(It is a well-known story to Japanese figure skate fans)
In the mid-1990's, Machiko Yamada noticed young Wilson's talent and potential, she invited him to Nagoya.
At that time he was not a famous choreographer, Yamada was able to say "Can you come to Nagoya?" "I hire you cheaply because I do not have much money, is it okay?"
Wilson accepted that amount (probably), stayed in Nagoya for about a month and did choreography works for Midori Ito (pro skater) and team Yamada's Junior Skaters.
The artist Wilson was whimsical, she often scolded him.
"If you want to go back to Canada with a lot of money, do your best!"
He taught skating from kids to Midori Ito.
Wilson came to Nagoya every year, liked Mihoko Higuchi coach who worked together and said, "I want to take her to Canada and work together."
Wilson worked for them until the early 2000s.
Then they did not work together, but Wilson said in an interview that "Machiko Yamada is my mother in Japan."
I think he still likes Ms Yamada and her team.

Now, Wilson is one of the world famous choreographers.
Does anyone scold him?
It probably will be expensive to hire him, and skaters who want to work together have to go to Toronto.

Wow, very interesting! Thanks for sharing and translating neroline, your english is great.

David Wilson, I sort of have a love/hate relationship with his choreos. But since what he did with my favourite skaters is mostly 'love', I have a high hopes for Shoma! I think we'll get to see it very soon!! *can'twait*

Welcome neroline and thank you for the interesting information! I never knew Coach Yamada had a connection with David. I can just see her sending Shoma to him and telling him "I'm sending you one of my favorite, prized students!" If he choreographs something that is even half as good as This Town, I'm sure it will be wonderful!

Welcome to the Prince's FF. His Winter program and his intensity were so amazing. Which costume did you prefer -- the gray or the blackish / lavenderish? I was a big fan of the gray.

wow i am shook

Thank you for welcome messages to me.
I wanted to get more knowledge of figure skating from global perspective, so I registered GS four years ago. :)

My favorite is Shoma.I have always supported him.
He was well known as "Genius Kid Skater" in Japan , and everyone was looking forward to his growth.

First 3A landing, first 4T, first world junior champion, first GPS, first worlds, first 4F, first J-Nats champion, first Olympic games... and first silver medal.

Especially the growth in the last four years was unimaginable and amazing.
It was like a dream. A wonderful dream.
As you know It took time for landing 3A, sometimes I get tears when I see his beautiful 3A and 3A-1Lo-3F on beat.

I want to see the continuation of dream. So I will continue to support Shoma.
I thought that there was someone with the same dream in Shoma FF and I posted.

Thank you.

I can understand well. His choreography mixes both good and bad things.
I think that Wilson likes Shoma. Because he likes artistic skater. He has done a wonderful job with Dai ("In the Garden of Souls").Mihoko coach knows Wilson well, so I guess it is probably okay. If it does not match Shoma, she will ask Wilson to change choreo.
Shoma likes to challenge, so we will see something different.

If I can get a ticket, I am planning to go to PIW in Otsu.
(Probably I can not get a ticket...)

Yamada coach found Wilson.Mao found Shoma.Team Yamada's scouting ability is amazing.
If Wilson gives Shoma a terrible choreography, Yamada coach will scold him.
