Happy birthday! :cheer:
Here's my small present for Fluffy. :luv17:

awwww this is so cute! i think it's really important for shoma to have someone like mihoko with him, especially when he doesn't do as well as he had hoped. she's always there for him, smiling, no matter how the competition goes. i just have so much respect for her.

oh also, found this on twitter, https://twitter.com/redgreendress/status/995389464296947712 i thought it was really nice to hear about how mihoko thinks shoma's maturing (in terms of input on his programs)

His taking more of an interest in choreography and such doesn't come as a surprise. I think it was just part of the process of him maturing as a skater and an adult. He's definitely on the right track...It was great to have this translation. Thx for posting, and many thx to redgreendress.

:dance3:  :hb: :points: :hap10: :hap93: :party2: :clapper:  :dance2:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HER ROYAL FLUFFINESS! And many thanks for always being Shoma's rock. Here's to many more happy birthdays!

Re: great spirit ex and costume.

I think for anyone that has concerns it is okay to voice them but it will be also more beneficial if you somehow try to send it to his team. I know there is a contact form on his website and the more people sending messages about the ex the more they will pay attention to it. Another option is to send message to SLB, she has twitter and facebook and I’m sure she’s willing to rely the message to Shoma’s team.

I completely agree with this, I really doubt Shoma would be happy if he knew that his costume or program was upsetting and or offending people. Honestly, cultural appropriation is such a western concept, I think it’s really unlikely that Shoma will change it unless someone tells him or his team about it. That said, if enough people do bring it up soon, there’s plenty of time to make changes.

Exactly. :rolleye: So much drama for a program we haven't even seen in its entirety. :drama:

Happy birthday and Mother's Day to the wonderful, multi- talented, nurturing, and beautiful Higuchi Mihoko-sensei!!

And a concept which is so shaky, and so often misunderstood and misused by those who don't really understand all complexities of cultural development.

Right. We all influence each other, no people or culture exists in a vacuum. Someone's always getting inspired by another people's culture. You don't see, for example, the Japanese being insulted when other people eat Japanese food or establish Japanese restaurants, or wear kimonos and hakamas, or try to learn their language, or imitate their tv shows.

Mihoko and Yamada's interview after IDF, where they talked about Shoma's skating and personality. https://twitter.com/redgreendress/status/995389464296947712?s=19

As someone that live at a country so diversity with hundreds of ethnicity/tribes/native language/cultures/skin colours (now i have at least 5 neighbor with different ethnicity and i have not more than 10 neighbours), we learnt to be respectful to other cultures since we really small. And when we try other culture (may it minority or majority) is not disrespectful to them on the contrary they feel proud, because is like we promote it and even if sometimes we make it more contemporer. So in Shoma case is obviously there's no disrespectful or cultural appropriation intend. The problem is lay in the history of this particulars culture. If such history never exist there will no debate over it. And if this is my culture, believe me i'll more than happy and proud. Because I'll rather make it contemporer and the world know that my culture exists rather than it gone to extinction in this modern era. If they interested enough they will look at the root, and if they not at least they know it exist.
Anyway it just my rant and believe after read that long essays  and just ignore this one.

let's be happy over shomita progress and happy Fluffy-sensei day! :celebrate:

^^^Ha! Ha! That photo would be perfect for a caption contest! Something about veggies would definitely be perfect!

More pic from sportsnavi, the last few ones showed the back of Shoma's Great Spirit Costume and he's going for a cantilever:

Btw, I was aware of Shoma's left palm:
https://twitter.com/kurayamini/status/995534595318673408
In English it is called...single transverse palmar crease (I can only trust wiki's translation...)

In Chinese's palmistry, in general it is a good sign for male :-)
Personality-wise, people will that palmar crease tends to be "Determined but sometimes very stubborn/ never give up"
