^^^Thank you sayaka. I just asked a Japanese friend of mine why some translations call Itsuki Tree kun. She said that's the kanji.

Welcome [emoji4]

It’s interesting that the character reads differently. Tatsuki Machida also has that kanji. 町田 樹

an article about theory of shoma as a god of fortune ? 😅 (just read with google translate soo..... someone please help!)

It says basically that he is regarded as God of Luck because the company Toyota has done very well financially since Shoma concluded a contract with them; the basketball team Alvark won the tournament league, the plushy Luke gained popularity, and Toyota vehicle won the Le Mans 24 hour race.

Thanks, Sayaka, it’s so good to have Japanese speakers among us to save us from google translate.
They should add that Nagoya Grampus won yesterday with 3-0  Shomita really is a lucky charm

Feimeicheng translated a short interview from yesterday’s match if you haven’t seen it: https://www.instagram.com/p/BmrhzIbgiYK/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=nj8qq879nxlf

Also if you didn’t watch yesterday’s broadcast of H&F you didn’t miss much, we had already seen most of the footage. In this thread there are some new bits with Shoma:

My pleasure!

It sounds like our Shoma has really been working hard on speaking to the media, not only in what he says but in clarity and tone of voice. He is more confident. I was impressed with his interviews in Chicago, for example.

Sayaka, thank you so much for all the translations and explanations! Thanks for clarifying the Tree. [emoji16]

Yes, he has been lucky for them! I looked up the standings of the Grampus- they're #14 in the league. Near the bottom. So it's great that they won and got 3-0! Toyota might insist he attends all the games of the other sports now. [emoji23] let's hope not.

Thanks for all the links!!

Let’s hope yes  I’m so selfish...I want baseball next please

I think God of Fortune will be a good occupation once he retires (not too soon please)
Welcome jerrymouse333 !! Thanks for sharing your experience :) Post long and often !

tree kun and chang polish  (sometimes Shoma's name is also translated as Masaki Uno for some reason but chang polish is my fav)
the football pics were lovely but i feel Shoma was criminally underused at that match. They had him and Itsuki in full gear and were selling joint merch, they could have had him do a few kicks during half time!!

Ow but I wouldn’t want him to trip over the ball and hurt his foot or anything ...

I would enjoy Sho doing penalty kicks. With Tree-kun as a goalkeeper. :slink:

Chang polish!?

I don't know if it's been said here before, but Shoma's name actually means something like "brightly polished". Very appropriate for someone who frequently wears sparkly costumes! When I first saw his name written in Japanese, I was like, ":jaw: Are his parents psychic, picking those kanji!?" Such a perfectly elegant name for a figure skater.

I agree, I always like the chang polish translation
