It’s interesting that the character reads differently. Tatsuki Machida also has that kanji. 町田 樹

It sounds like our Shoma has really been working hard on speaking to the media, not only in what he says but in clarity and tone of voice. He is more confident. I was impressed with his interviews in Chicago, for example.

tree kun and chang polish :biggrin: (sometimes Shoma's name is also translated as Masaki Uno for some reason but chang polish is my fav)
the football pics were lovely but i feel Shoma was criminally underused at that match. They had him and Itsuki in full gear and were selling joint merch, they could have had him do a few kicks during half time!!

I don't know if it's been said here before, but Shoma's name actually means something like "brightly polished". Very appropriate for someone who frequently wears sparkly costumes! When I first saw his name written in Japanese, I was like, ":jaw: Are his parents psychic, picking those kanji!?" Such a perfectly elegant name for a figure skater.
