That's my observation too. With other skaters, even if they make big mistakes, the fans don't really make a big deal about the mistakes and instead compliment their program or other things about their performance. With Shoma, we (myself included) tend to be a little nitpicky, especially considering that it's quite early in the season. Maybe because we know what he's capable of, maybe because we've seen these programs in the shows and so we not only have expectations of him but also of his programs, or maybe because he himself has high expectations of himself. Whatever the reasons are, he's certainly held to a higher standard.
With other skaters, it's "It's his/her/their first competition, don't expect too much, it'll get better". With Shoma, "Well that was good, but this/that can be better, he needs to improve this" etc. It's a form of compliment though, that people have such high expectations of him.
