Hello, I am a fan attending a skating competition for the first time to see Shoma. I have a letter and a few items that are not stuffed animals or flowers that I would like to give to him. I was wondering if fellow Shoma fans here could help me with advice on what would be the best way to make sure he receives the gifts and any other advice for attending a competition. I'm very excited and happy I will finally get to see him skate in person but also quite anxious about making sure my experience goes smoothly. I appreciate any advice and look forward to seeing everyone's reactions and love for Shoma. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the forum, 3A3T, unfortunately I cannot give any advice since I have never attended a skating competition live.

Hopefully other members of the DBC with more experience can help you :) I wish you the best for your trip!

TOYOTA just released a great interview and article on Shoma, both in Japanese and English :luv17:
It's an interesting read and there are some new photos as well of Shoma in his beautiful TOYOTA Jacket :)

Japanese: https://newsroom.toyota.co.jp/jp/mobility-for-all/blog/25379422.html

English: https://newsroom.toyota.co.jp/en/mobility-for-all/blog/25509196.html

I'm sure it has been discussed a lot, but I really admire how driven Shoma is, but at the same time, he's so aware of his own capabilities in order to make decisions he needed. His desire to improve is boundless, but at the same time he feels so grounded. Hopefully he'll be able to conquer his challenges one by one, with having clean satisfying skates at GPF and showing what he has practiced the closest one to date.

Also the post-script of the article  you think by now everyone already knows Shoma has a lot of wisdom behind his cute face, but I guess people continue to be surprised.

The best way to get it to him is probably to throw it on the ice. It will most likely be impossible to give it to him directly. As far as I know, we will be allowed to throw things on the ice. Sometimes it is not allowed and there are boxes in the lobby with the skaters' names on them. I'm not 100% certain how this arena is. I would recommend bringing some snacks in your jacket pocket (not in your bag or purse). The arena food gets tiresome really fast. Dress in layers. Other than that, I don't really know what to say. Cheer really loudly for the Prince (and all other skaters too). Do you have an all-event pass or are you going only for the men (and Shomajesty).

Welcome, 3A3T! Don't be anxious! Enjoy yourself, watching live is a lot of fun. It's much more exciting than watching the videos. Bring a warm scarf or shawl that you can place on your lap if it gets too cold, and make sure to have some gloves around just in case. Arenas vary in temperature- the one in Taiwan was really cold, while the one in Hiroshima was very warm, so be prepared for cold and adjust your clothing in the next days as needed. As Arriba said, bring some food and water, because arena food is pretty bad (sometimes there isn't even any). If the arena doesn't allow water containers with cap/covers to be brought in, bring your own water cap. [emoji23] Bring some tissue too, in case the arena runs out of it (they will).

As for getting your gifts to him, throwing it on the ice or putting it in available boxes is the only way (as mentioned). Just make sure to wrap it well so the contents don't fall out. As far as I know, the skaters go through all the gifts before giving stuffed toys or whatever away for charity. Shoma has said that he wears shirts given to him by his fans (some of whom have recognised the shirts they've given when he wore them), and he's also posed with stuffed toys given to him (that he displayed on his bed). Don't worry about him getting your gifts and letter. Oh, and make sure your gift is wrapped in paper or placed in a paper bag that is NOT WHITE. Makes it easy for the flower girls and boys to see and pick up.

Have a fun time! [emoji1]

Thank you for your advice on the food. I will make sure to bring some snacks to munch on throughout the day. I will be attending all events this weekend.

It's been quite some time since Shoma last posted any photos with his stuffed animal gifts. I hope he'll do it again one day soon. I also plan on giving him a shirt and a few caps that I thought he or Itsuki might enjoy. Thank you for your advice.

Hi 3A3T, FYI, please also remember skaters WON'T accept FOOD as gifts.
Enjoy and have fun!

Thank you!

The simple reason why he's not using the black blades:

One of the many things I like about Shoma's personality is that his answers are simple and direct, no further explanation needed, case closed.

When he wore the yellow costume at 4CC's last season instead of the blue it caused a media and fan hoopla. When Shoma was asked by the media about the change he
looked surprised and said "well the blue one has to be cleaned". Simple and direct as that.

I’m not too sad about the black blades tbh. They’re cool but unpopular opinion (with Sho’s exception apparently) - I like the silver ones better because of how shiny they are on the ice, they look more elegant

The black blades are cool but I think his answer and that he does what he likes is even cooler. Simple, direct answers are so honest because he's like that.

Love the costume answer, Demarinis! Thanks for reminding it to me.

Hello, I am a fan

Welcome to the ShoSPAtal, 3A3T. I hope you're the one that got +3 GOEs in the old system. ;)

Please don't forget to register in the shospital upon arrival. You're very likely to catch the extremely dangerous infection called Shomatitis.

I wonder if he would like Marin Honda's pink blades! :eeking: They wouldn't match his costumes too well.

Hooray, I made it to Vancouver. Just took a walk over to the arena just to be sure I can find it tomorrow. Typical first / travel day. Seemed like a LONG flight. Think I'll spend the evening preparing skaters' gifts and rest up for all the excitement. Lots of skating fans here at this hotel. Can't wait to see Shomajesty!
